In summary everything went well - it was a wonderful experience overall! Firstly the vibe of the place - this is not your standard cookie cutter resort in PD. This has a very unique style with massive murals, funky coloured furniture, and all the comforts. Uniquely, in the pool area there's the facilities of a standard kitchen providing guests the option to prepare their meals (Coles is just a short walk) and relax in a shaded dining area poolside. The pool area had a calming waterfall and it was great to hang out and experience peace and tranquility. As a solo traveller it was great to meet other guests of all nationalities and enjoy each other's company. Staff were very friendly and helpful in arranging my return transportation to Cairns at very short notice - Ruth you're a superstar! The ownership has transformed a standard '60's vintage Motel into a truly unique property - hats off to them!

Perhaps due to a miscommunication at check in it was not clear to me if its standard practise to have to request the room to made up? I did it myself - this was no hardship to me. I had a very irregular schedule due to my scuba diving and recovery, and I think it would have been difficult for staff to work around my schedule anyways.

What a top spot. Retro fitted tropical room. Super clean and great atmosphere. Full size refrigerator, microwave and kitchenette. Even the plates and cutlery were tropical retro. Jenny at the office was super friendly and had our room ready for us for when we arrived. Our car was rather large so she had a special parking spot reserved for us near our room. We stayed on the ground floor which had a quaint little courtyard that was shady in a rainforest type setting. The room consisted of a lounge (retro) a large round glass table with two comfy (retro) chairs and a decent size wall mounted TV., apparently they had DVD's in the office for use, but we arrived too late. The bed was extremely comfy and i slept like a log, and woke feeling great in the morning. All the bathroom fixtures were new and modern and to be honest, I didn't want to get out of the shower, it had great water pressure and I'd love to know what bathroom products they used, because they smelt awesome. Even the coffee was a fancy blend, not the regular cheap stuff you would find in other accommodation. A lot of thought and effort has gone into these rooms with comfort and tropical holiday feel in mind. We took a glimpse of the pool, which had a lovely little barbeque area. The complex is close to town, 100 metres through the back gate, and an easy walk to restaurants and bars. The beach is also a short stroll, which we did in the morning for a swim.

The we only stayed one night. I wish we could've stayed longer.

Staff were amazing! Really friendly, helpful and nothing to much trouble. They went above and beyond to look after us! The room was great, was really big, The bathroom was great, good size ands toiletries provided. Pool area was great and kitchen area was really good with everything you need to cook your own meals if you wnanted including an oven! The location was perfect, right near everything but very quiet at night.

Only thing that would have helped would have been clothes airer in the room as there was no balcony or outside area (which we knew) but because of the humid dampweather it was impossible to dry anything.

The owners have clearly gone to a lot of effort recently to redesign the whole place. It's not my not the aesthetic I naturally gravitate towards, but it is undeniably cute with all the bright matching furniture and wall murals. New wooden floors, very comfortable bed and puffy feather pillows, nice bedding, great low lighting options, TV connectivity to streaming services, frosty AC. The full-sized fridge and kitchenette with sink made light meal prep easy, and whilst I didn't use the barbecue or the stove hobs in the pool area, I appreciate it that they were available. The availability of a coin laundry was also very welcome. I liked that they don't wastefully come in and clean your room every day by default. The motel is walking distance from absolutely everything. I would really stay again.

I found that my first upstairs room in the rear block let in more noise from other guests than my second room at ground level, towards the front of the building. The trade off is having occasional noise from cars parking, which I was happier with.

Spacious rooms and great shared area. Had the pool to ourselves for most of the time we were there. Great cooking facilities. Fantastic location right by the main street so walking distance to everything.

We asked for an early check in and were told they would try. However, we arrived and were told it wasn't possible. As it turned out, we could see in the room we eventually were given and it was ready when we arrived. For some reason, they wouldn't check us in until 2pm despite it being ready. Laundry not cheap at $6 a go and there wasn't a huge area to hang things out to dry (we didn't have an outside space) so $12 if you use the dryer.

It was a spacious room with a cute vintage decor. The location was super convenient to walk to beach and restaurants. Parking right in front of room on ground floor. Thick walls didn’t hear neighbors.

The streaming didn’t work on tv. The bed was soft. A rusty screw was found between sliding door and patio on ground and I almost stepped on it. More attention to maintenance is needed.

A completely amazing, one-off unique gem of a place. the owners have done an extraordinary job sourcing furniture and decor to fit the 70’s retro style and vibe. everything is in pristine condition and immaculately placed for an extra dose of class! The pool area os set up with everything you need to prepare and cook a great meal for family, couple other solo traveler. I honestly couldn’t fault it. my only regret is not finding it earlier. The woman on the concierge desk was absolutely spectacular. 25 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nothing except wish I’d stayed there for my entire trip.

Check-in was super easy and we got to park in the front of our room. The room itself brought us instant joy simply by being so colorful and positive. The positivness from the room itself is what made it memorable for us. The place is super close to the main street where all the restaurants are.

Parking situation was a bit tight, but I guess it depends of what kind of cars other guests happen to have. We had a three people room and there was no door between the main room where was the queen bed and the smaller room with one person bed. It was not a problem for us, but mentioning just in case.

It had a bright, clean, happy, and relaxed atmosphere, matching the online description given. Handy to everything, especially when you don't have a vehicle. As for the staff, excellent. Jenny at Reception is so bright and bubbly and was very welcoming upon my arrival and always most helpful. I had less to do with Lilian and Bernie, but they also were great. Thankyou to all who made the stay for my daughter's wedding just that much extra special.

I recommend Port Douglas Motel. The main benefit was a great value of price, location and comfort: I’ve got for the reasonable price clean room equipped with a fridge, a microwave, TV. A bathroom was tidy, equipped with a fan to dry my hair, shampoo, soup, body wash detergent. But no body lotion. So if you use it then bring it with yourself. The main benefit was a location: if you turn to the left from the motel there’s 1 minute to the beach, to the very beginning of the beach. So you can take a walk along the beach. The length of the beach is 4 miles. Or from the beach to the left you can take a walk through the bush along the shore. Another benefit of allocation is a walk for 30 seconds to the Main Street with all restaurants and cafe. And there’s Coles on that street. If you turn to the right from the motel and then again to the right to the next street it takes around 5 minutes to get to the Marine where all boat trips start.

May be provide with a body lotion.
