The hosts. Both Bernie and Lily made a difference in our staying at this otherwise namesake budget-friendly motel. Due to the tropical rain weather, we had to adjust our travel plan to Port Douglas a couple of times since we had a rental car and were unsure about driving the first time on an Australian coastal road. Bernie was so accommodating, to the point he messaged us while we were on the way about the local weather and road condition and offered us the flexibility to put us at ease. Upon arrival we found our room was extremely clean and nostalgically decorated. We were also pleasantly surprised by the fully equipped community kitchen they offer to all guests. We ended up staying two full nights as originally planned. Our experience was nothing but wonderful. We will for sure stay here again if we ever come back to Port Douglas.
None.

A really great value for the town. The owners do a good job of making this older facility cheerful and comfortable. The bed had a medium firm base, but enough cushion at the top to support the curves of my lower body. The kitchenette is well-stocked with a toaster, cutlery, and dishes. I appreciated the fridge with separate freezer that had ice cube trays. It was great to have air conditioning and reliable internet. It is only 1-block off the main downtown street. An easy walk to everything the town has to offer. The front desk staff was helpful getting oriented to the sites of interest for us.
No complaints.

Location: close to the beach and the Main Street Room size is okay. Internet is also fine. There's a swimming pool and BBQ in the motel. Beach towels are provided.
Reception: like most of the hotels in Port Douglas, the reception does not open 7/24. However, the opening hours of this Motel is shorter than the hotels nearby. Our SIM card cannot be used to make local calls. Without the reception's help in calling Laundry: expensive ($6 washing + $6 drying + $1 washing powder). The same thing in a hotel in Cairns cost $10 in total. Cleanliness: literally a very big cockroach was in the bathroom when my baby girl was showering. She was frightened. Cleanliness: The water pot was very dirty. So we got a new one when we finally managed to find someone in the motel.

The Port Douglas Motel is in a perfect location just off the main street, Macrossan Street, so close to all the lovely cafes and restaurants and shops and just a few minutes walk from Four Mile Beach. Our room was large, clean and quirkily furnished and decorated in a colourful, "fun" and stylish way - eg two ceiling height palm trees painted on the wall either side of the bed, a colourful, tropical flower throw on the bed and a colourful sofa. The staff/owners (?),Bernie and Jenny, were extremely helpful and friendly and gave us a warm welcome. In terms of value for money, comfort and location, the Port Douglas Motel would be hard to beat. I would definitely recommend it.
The shower in the bathroom was not very powerful. A power shower would have been better.

This gem was definitely our favourite accommodation during our trek up the far north coast of Queensland. From the moment we arrived, it made us happy. The rooms are bright, cheery, beautifully decorated and immaculate. The location is superb, a one minute walk to the beach, shops and cafes. The pool area is lovely and has a spotless outdoor kitchen., This little motel is so much nicer than the big resorts, which we thought would be our holiday treat. We soon worked out they are all the same, whilst this is a one off which we will return to as soon as we can. Jenny and her staff were amazing and could not have been nicer or more helpful.

The motel is cute and hip and located right to one side of the main part of PD, so event is completely walkable. The front office staff was absolutely terrific, helping me get the local shuttle to Habitat, the fabulous zoo, find the entrance a block away to the beautiful walking trail around the tip of the peninsula, giving me a clean beach towel each day, and brainstorming things to do when it was too hot for me. They even let me keep access to my room through my check out day until 5pm so I had a place to cool off after enjoying the Sunday market and local non denominational church service on Easter Sunday. Felt totally at home!

Excellent value hotel in the centre of PD, 5 mins from the beach and 2 mins from the shops and restaurants. My room was very large with 3 beds, a table and a sofa, a kitchette and nice bathroom. All was very cheerily decorated. Bed was very comfortable. Air-conditioning and also ceiling fan so no worries about suffering the heat. Parking inside the motel. Staff are very welcoming and helpful.
You might want to check if you are ground floor or upstairs. I had heavy luggage.

In summary everything went well - it was a wonderful experience overall! Firstly the vibe of the place - this is not your standard cookie cutter resort in PD. This has a very unique style with massive murals, funky coloured furniture, and all the comforts. Uniquely, in the pool area there's the facilities of a standard kitchen providing guests the option to prepare their meals (Coles is just a short walk) and relax in a shaded dining area poolside. The pool area had a calming waterfall and it was great to hang out and experience peace and tranquility. As a solo traveller it was great to meet other guests of all nationalities and enjoy each other's company. Staff were very friendly and helpful in arranging my return transportation to Cairns at very short notice - Ruth you're a superstar! The ownership has transformed a standard '60's vintage Motel into a truly unique property - hats off to them!
Perhaps due to a miscommunication at check in it was not clear to me if its standard practise to have to request the room to made up? I did it myself - this was no hardship to me. I had a very irregular schedule due to my scuba diving and recovery, and I think it would have been difficult for staff to work around my schedule anyways.

Motel was handy to shops cafes beaches and the marina Having a communal kitchen and pantry was handy especially beside the pool and under cover. I was able to sit in small back garden among the native flora. It was handy to be picked up by shuttles whenever you needed one!!! There was a gate into parallel street at bottom of drive so meant an alternative route to main road.
Noisy neighbours some nights at Hotel next door but settled early!!!

The location was phenomenal - convenient and quiet. It is only a block from the main strip in Port Douglas and a block from the 4 Mile Beach walk. It is also only a few blocks from the marina where most tours leave from. In addition, the staff were super friendly. They let me store my bags after I checked out and were flexible with me checking in late at night. Lastly, there is a fridge and microwave which is handy to have. I highly recommend this place!!
