Exceptional staff. Reception was very helpful and patient with me. Showed me around and took me to the room. The room was very clean, and the bathroom smelled like flowers. The housekeeping team, together with their manager are doing an amazing job. They should get a pay rise. Definitely will come back and will take my school group next time, as the girl working with the group was sooo nice to me when I was taking my luggage down and helped me. Great team.

Such a welcoming and friendly place to start your stay in Melbourne! Most people staying here are solo travellers which makes it so much easier to meet people. The staff are great and so chatty and eager to get you involved with all the events. Connor at the bar helped make me feel especially welcome from my first day. There’s lots of events and also welcome drinks where all the newbies can meet new people. I booked a stay here for a week and after a couple of days I booked another month here as I loved it here so much. Most of my friends I know in Melbourne now after two months here I met at the village so am a big fan of the place. I no longer stay here but come back almost every day still!
The washing can be a pain sometimes. You have to wait for someone’s wash or dry to finish before one is free a lot of the time but it’s manageable.

The staff are cool. The building has big potential but needs investment. The common areas are very fancy and the is a pool table, the kitchen looks great and the parties are cool. As well, the are normal people, variety. You have a plug in each bed (but not support to put your phone)
The beds are noisy and the old mattresses with springs give you a bad sleep. No ovens! And no lockers!!! (thats ridiculous) if you want a locker you need to pay for it because it's in the luggage room. A few small lockers in the room will be good starting. The bouncer on sunday night is really uneducated.

I moved here when I was new to Melbourne and it was the most welcoming place ever. The staff are all so friendly and chatty and make being alone in a new country easy. Connor at the bar chats to everyone and makes sure you meet lots of new people, I know all of my closest friends now from this stay. They have lots of events, and welcome drinks for all the newbies to meet everyone else. I booked just one week here and after a few days I booked again for another month as I loved it so much.
It can be hard to do washing sometimes, you sometimes have to wait a little while for other peoples washes and dries to finish before you can use it.

Pretty much everything: - The people working in there were amazing and heartwarming. - They have a bar and lounge with pool and ping pong tables! - All 4 levels had their own kitchen. - They made parties at the lower ground and the sound didn’t affect the rooms when it came to sleeping. - Each room had its own bathroom, with housekeepers cleaning it everyday. - Elevators to go to every floor. - Couches were pretty much everywhere and were really comfortable. There was always a place to sit. I had an amazing time. I’m definitely coming back.
Nothing that I can think of.

Great place to start off in Melbourne, meet a lot of people moving there and it was nice to meet people who had the same mindset as you. The weekends are packed because of the beer pong touny so I recommend booking in advance because this place does fill up fast. The rooms are cleaned daily and the beds are fairly comfortable nothing too special. The kitchen is big and they ave one on each of the four floors. The first floor does get a bit noisey but tolerable. Would recommend this place for anyone looking to meet some friends and have a good time.
As a backpacker leaving Southeast Asia and coming to Aus to price for hostels hit me like a brick 30-40 bucks a night for a shared dorm kind of floored me.

The people, staff, gym and ping pong I met really lots of good friends in the village. The price is really valued, simple but cozy 6-bed room, with enough space for store my stuff and if my roommates are all good, so the bathroom is always clean. Kitchen and dinning room are all large, they have many staff clean it every day, is well organized. My favorite is the gym and the lobby ping pong desk on the ground floor, where I do yoga and stretching everyday and also met and played ping pong with many many friends. I wish I could stay there for a long-term duration. (actually I stayed 7 more nights) Will definitely be back when I go back to Melbourne.
Kitchen is closed at 11 pm a bit inconvenient, but this makes us have a clean kitchen to use.

A 6 Bed Dorm - One loud snorer and two German Backpackers who insisted on having late night phone calls and conversations ... Two lovely and friendly Spanish female Travelers - In other words when you stay in a hostel it's like the box of Chocolates ... You don't know what you're going to get
Snorers - Loud conversations in the common areas - Not sure why people have to shout at each other... The design of the community room seemed to amplify the noise

The Social feel of the hostel Friendliness of others and staff everyone takes responsibility Free gym! Excellent location
Some of the security staff, although they have a very important job, take it too far. I have seen people thrown out and banned for very small incidents, I think the power has gone to the head of some staff and they forget it is a hostel not an MI5 base. They have no banter and often look for trouble

The venue has free table tennis, pool tables, trivia night, beer pong and a very basic fitness centre. It has a fantastic kitchen with lots of cutlery and crockery. There are lots of backpackers from different parts of the world there and it was interesting chatting to them about their home countries.
The only thing I didn't like was that I found some people sleeping in the common areas just outside of the actual dorms because I didn't know if they were meant to be in the facility as they should have been sleeping in their rooms/dorms if they were.
