The staff was friendly and helpful, the location is great everything is in walkable distance. I had a two women shared room and was lucky with my roomates. The building itself is old which I personally like. I liked the wooden floors and old matching doors. Even though there was only one women’s washroom per floor I could always take a shower or use a toilet when I wanted or needed to (was concerned about that at first). A few people complained about the rooms beeing to hot since there is no ac. I‘m always cold so for me personally the open window plus fan was fine. It was also not very hot outside even though it was august. So probably in 30 celsius weather the room would have been too warm to sleep in. I liked the common area and kitchen on the first floor. Met nice people there and the staff cleaned it every morning. You can also store your food there. They provide tape and pens to put your name on your groceries and lockers and 3 big fridges for storage. Also the kitchen has anything you might need to prepare food. The room itself is very sparse but does have a mirror lol (I liked that). You can also borrow a hairdryer which I thought was neat and a towel (I think that was $2). The beds and sheets were comfortable and clean. Even though there is a bar downstairs I did not find it noisy (wasn’t there on a weekend though) but with the open windows it‘s probably always good to bring earplugs.
The room did not have many ways to store/put your belongings (there are lockable cages under the beds though, bring a lock) and also only two plugs not close to the beds (luxury problem but some people might not like that or you could bring a multiplug thingy or a longer cord for your charger if you need your phone close to your bed) and like I said only one bathroom with two showers and two toilets on each floor. But it‘s manageable.

The staff were friendly and welcoming and the location was great for our needs. We enjoyed wandering around gas Town. The building is very old but charming, you can easily see and feel the sloping on the first floor. This hostel is noisy at night as there is a very busy bar downstairs so if you can book for the second floor, much quieter. Perfectly fine place for one night stay. It is a 2 storey building but the stairs make it more like 4 flights of stairs, if you have large luggage, the staff will help you carry it up.
Did feel a bit over priced for the state of the property Very much a heritage building

Very convenient location. Surrounded by great restaurants and main attractions. 2 minutes' walk away from Gastown steam clock and 10 min away from Waterfront station. Easy to commute.
TOO MUCH NOISY at night. I couldn't sleep for 2 nights due to VERY LOUD DJs. The 6 bathrooms/toilets are NOT sufficient at all for 100s of travellers in two floors. The kitchen+common area TOO SMALL. The hostel should consider investing more in adding bathrooms and expanding the kitchen+common area. More frequent cleaning is recommended.

Perfect location for sightseeing in Vancouver City. Really nice and extremely helpful staff at the reception! - thank you so much - clean kitchen, nice people around, save and helpful luggage storage. The sound level is clearly part of the deal and ends round midnight. Cafe JAM was the perfect breakfast recommendation - thank you - and don´t worry: they can handle the queue there...
No earplugs at the reception, so you better bring your own. The bathroom can become pretty poky in the morning

The hostel is centrally located in Gastown, not far from downtown Vancouver. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The accommodation is clean, comfy bed with bedding. The rooms and the bathrooms are cleaned every day. The common area downstairs was great for watching tv, playing games, chatting with other guests or working. There's a huge kitchen with everything you need, storing cabinet and fridge. Everything was super convenient! I enjoyed my stay and will gladly come again :)

The location was really convenient. There were a lot of restaurants and shops around and close bus stops. The hostel itself was pretty quiet and the rooms each had a locked door that helped feel like the facilities were safe.
The women’s restroom wasn’t very clean and the lock sticks so even if you have a key for the lock, the door itself doesn’t close all the way. So it’s easily accessible for anyone to come in when someone is in the shower or using the restroom.

I loved the hostel, its great for the price, the Cambie is located in one of the coolest areas of Vancouver, Gastown is definitely the best place to stay if you want to party, go cafe hopping, vintage shopping. The hostel is cleanest one of its kind, the staff super friendly and it has a bar/pub restaurant that’s always full of people with different things every night. Guest are respectful and there is a really good vibe. I’d definitely recommend it!!
The only thing that was uncomfortable, but I think it depends on the room, is that there is no plug close to the bunk beds to charge your phone and the outlets where kind of broken.

Great and perfect location. The bar is perfect and vibrant. That it has a kitchen with spaces to interact with the rest of the users. Comfortable beds. I really love the catttt she was amazing
The bad hygiene in washrooms, I know it’s not their entire problem cause I saw many people are to dirty both in the kitchen and in the men’s washrooms. Beds should has protection in the second level.

Value of price and location was best.
Rennovating guests tv/lunch room was done exactly same time as stay. No notice given. Again bar attached plays music til 1pm nightly so didnt get sleep til late after.. bar guests lingering outside and as surprise, surprise entering sleeping quarters predictably after in .. drunken stupor.

I really enjoyed the location, Vancouver is so nice and it’s right in the heart of a beautiful area. I like how only residents could go into the living area, it made it feel safe. Sharing a room can be intimidating but I felt good there. There are lock boxes for your things in the room so you can feel comfortable knowing your things are put up. Bring your own locks! I bought some at the nearby dollar store. I also made some good friends during my stay, I can’t complain!
The bathroom is small but it gets the job done.
