very pretty great location

when u arrive the entrance is up a huge stone staircase. you drag your suitcase up then lift it over stone entrance to walk in. No one to assist anywhere. only one lovely girl working at the desk. looks like it’s closed! no air conditioning, and it was hot. windows only open a small amount, no screens. room newly renovated and beautiful upon leaving you can take an elevator down two levels then drag your suitcase out and down a stone staircase

The breakfast was a very high standard and the Union Club provides a variety of foods for all tastes. The location is excellent with glimpses of Victoria Harbour. There is a very good library and reading room that has a broad range of books. The Club was quiet and serene but close to all amenities and attractions. The beds are big with quality bedding.

My room could have been cleaned a bit better. The carpet had not been vacuumed thoroughly.

Such a convenient location. Bed was the best I've ever had at a hotel or bnb, shower was roomy and lovely. Loved having the reading room with free tea and coffee to hang out in.

A bit old world stuffy vibe. Couldn't believe that they still have a men's only night at the bar!

The traditional standards which were commonplace a couple of decades ago are still evident at the Union Club. The extensive library and the lounge were havens of peace where we could enjoy quiet periods to ourselves. The fine dining and excellent wines served by excellent staff were a pleasure to experience.

The dress code is a plus point for me but I was a little disappointed that there were several times during our stay that it was ignored by some of the guests.

The building has been well maintained, such a great experience to be able to stay at a historical location. Staff were very friendly and the reading room and library were excellent quiet places to work and enjoy a coffee. Size and comfort of the rooms was amazing and a great view to the harbour.

Hotel is a bit stuffy in terms of atmosphere - caters to rotary club and what seemed to be an older client group. Entry wasn't welcoming as you're basically locked out without being buzzed-in. Restaurant had lights off most of the time and wasn't inviting with high visibility from the lobby. Noticed mice in the lobby and reading room - it's an older building so I suppose that's character. For a high-quality location the toilet paper was 1/2 ply and they had a number of room fans from the 90's cluttering the room - maybe get some new fans and put one in each closet. Nothing provided in fridge - other quality locations have water bottles or snacks.

The location was superb and very convenient to the harbor and local shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed drinking tea and reading newspapers and magazines in the reading room and library.

Our room had a fan but was stuffy on a hot day. The room was tastefully decorated but was cramped for two of us with all of our luggage. The bathroom also had little storage room and was functional but cramped.

The location was terrific--close to the museum, parliament building, harbor, shopping area. Rooms were clean and simply furnished. Loved that there was an onsite laundry that guest could use. The dining room was a wonderful place to have breakfast. We unfortunately never had an opportunity to dine there for dinner. Staff were very helpful.

If you have vehicle over a certain height, no garage parking close by. Staff took the initiative and time to research/lookup available parking facilities for us. We scrambled for on-street parking which had time constraints. Taking luggage in/out of the building on a trolley was interesting. Got to see a lot of the building most people don't go!

old charming building, tastefully decorated rooms, wonderful staff. very cool old elevator,Ike the ones you see in movies! We got takeout and ate out on the patio overlooking the ocean and watched the sunset. very close to restaurants and museums and all the fun stuff.

no air conditioning but they had some fans going which made the room comfortable. no screens or safety features on the windows which made me a little nervous with our toddler but can’t say another bad thing about this place. really lovely.

We didn’t consume breakfast or lunch at the club. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the lounge were enjoyable. Our evening dinner was terrific, as was the service. As we sat near the fireplace I noticed a mouse scramble underneath the table next to us. I did quietly mention it to our server. I thought you may be interested.

Overall, the experience was enjoyable.

Location is ideal - right across from the Empress Hotel, waterfront and at the south edge of the downtown restaurant/entertainment area. Facility is old and charming, harkening to a different era were British class structure was supreme (even if it is no longer relevant or excusable). Pictures of Churchill on the wall, hushed conversations, etc. Elevator that is older than this senior. Breakfast was from a limited but very affordable menu. Nightcaps in the lounge were from the most extensive whisky menu anywhere. Serving staff remembered our selections from one evening to the next - that kind of service. We found the mouse running around the perimeter of the room was quaint and entertaining; might be off-putting to some.

Parking is a bit inconvenient - 2+ blocks away, inconvenient after hours and weekend access. Definitely not handicap accessible.
