Parking is right at the back of the hotel, pay by the hour or day but very easy and the staff sent a note about that in advance. Subway & bus terminal, an actual building not just a stop, is right next to the parking lot. We drove to Toronto in the morning, parked and took the subway to watch an afternoon blue jays game and by the time we rode back it was ready for check-in.

Traffic getting to this area is busy so if you are driving allow extra time to get there, the GPS will likely under estimate. The bed was not the best but the room was quiet. Not sure if there is an elevator but we were on the 4th floor so check in advance if that is a concern.

The location is perfect. I was able to walk everywhere. The room was cozy and the bed and pillows very comfortable. I enjoyed being able to make tea in my room. The temperature of the room was perfect.

There was a lot of noise from the pub next door. Normally this would not be a problem because I wear ear plugs and sleep soundly. But the windows in my room didn't close completely so the noise was a bit worse than on my previous stays.

Location excellent as right on two subway lines and subway/ streetcar station right behind Mansion. Housekeeping excellent. Unique building Super clean. Character. Staff don't mind the front desk too long but a simple phone call and someone is there in a minute. Lots of signs to guide to help. Pub next door serves simple breakfast good pub fair great staff. BUT Pub is packed on weekend night with college kids yet offer entertaining crowd watching. Egads if they are this country's future I'm moving : )

The noise of ajoining Pub of boisterous College kids on weekends.

Staff were very easygoing and friendly, and at time of booking the hotel was by far and away the cheapest available in Toronto that didn't have terrible reviews and wasn't a hostel. The rooms were nice and tidy and were cleaned every day we were there. Facilities a bit dated but everything worked really well. It's a bit of a trek from downtown Toronto, however it is only 5 minutes walk from Spadina subway station and is also not far from Casa Loma (which is worth a look, but at $40 pp is probably a bit much for a full visit!).

It is still quite expensive for what you get, especially considering there's no breakfast and facilities are somewhat dated. We were located below ground level so the rooms were a bit dingy; not a problem if like us, you were just using it as a base for days out in Toronto, but one to be aware of.

My wife and I had a great stay here. We were going to show at the Velvet Underground so it was only a 15 minute Uber ride away which was nice. The room was clean and cozy. We had a king size bed in our room with a balcony which we couldn't enjoy since it was November but it was still nice to have. So if youre staying here during the school year there are 2 Frat houses right beside so keep that in mind. My wife and I live in a small town in Northern Ontario so it was nice to hear all the partying going on made us feel young again lol. Also the room has 2 fans so you can just put those on to drown out the noise if that would be an issue for you. But honestly the noise wasn't an issue at all we didn't even notice once we were asleep, I know other people have complained but it really didn't bother us and wasn't a factor at all. Overall we had a great stay and would have no problem staying here again. You cant go wrong for the value.

the culture/style (I think very Canadian, the ceramic shower - ceiling fan - analog tv but with bell digital receiver- the hole building with the paintings and the pub beside the hotel, wifi password was a bit other than told but u can guess it - Ethernet in the room didn’t work) nice and helpful hotel staff (though my pocket was stolen, but stupid drunken me left it in my room)

messing with the volume from the analog tv in combination with the bell receiver, wifi password/not working Ethernet

Location was great in terms of proximity to the subway station, restaurants, cafés, and Shoppers Drug Mart. Checking in and out was very easy. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Pillows were nice and fluffy. It was also nice to have a sink outside the bathroom as well.

We were on the ground floor and it was the weekend, so it was extremely noisy. To us, it wasn't too bad, but I could see this ruining a lot of people's sleep It's a student and bar area, so basically there were crowds of people gathered right next to our window. A firetruck was parked outside with its flashing lights on from midnight to 2am. Music was playing very loudly against another window. We could hear conversations that were happening outside VERY clearly lol. It was to be expected, so for us it was more amusing if anything. If you want a restful night of sleep, however, this may not be the area for you during a weekend stay.

The suite was very spacious, had lots of character and had eveything I needed excepr for caffinated coffee...it was all decaf... Loved the fridge, stained glass and the sitting area.

Very little to dislike, just the lack of caffinated coffee, a makeup mirror is needed (I had to straddle the toilet to get close enough to put on makeup lol!). Also, the bed was comfortable but it was two twin mattresses with a cover. The beds really need proper king mattresses. Other than that, a great stay.

Property was lovely, it had a lot of charm and I loved the decor it was super cozy! it was lovely, clean and the bed was very comfy ☺️ it was in a great location a 10 minute subway ride to downtown and the subway is located very close to the hotel. There is also an English pub next door which is part of the hotel and adds to the character. The manager was really nice and helpful recommending places for me to visit! checkin was at 3 but they allowed me to have my room early as it was empty, even if it wasn’t they would of stored my bag for me - they are very accommodating! I will be going back when I visit Toronto again.

Where the room was located was on the 2nd floor on the side of the building so it was surprisingly very quiet, especially at night, even though the hotel is located in the building next to the bar buildings and close to Spadina and Bloor. There were plenty of towels and pillows. The bed was extremely comfortable. No breakfast was included but are a number of of coffee shops (Tim's, 2nd Cup) open early within walking distance along with inumerable restaurants and pubs. The location was great, access to the TTC and the subway is just across the back parking lot on Spadina, meaning you're minutes from downtown.

The room was for two people, so two chairs would've been nice and I really wish there'd been a bar fridge and microwave, but space was a consideration. We managed just fine.
