top location in toronto’s entertainment district with lots of bars and restaurants. also very close (just a 20 minute walk to the cn tower) to the main sightseeing spots and just a few steps to the metro (osgode station). friendly and professional staff. smooth check-in/check-out, free bag storage. great jazz club downstairs. i had the double room with bathroom. everything was clean and just ok for 1 to 2 nights, small but all you need for a short stay. location and rooms are located in an older house, so don’t ecpect modernized rooms. and you can fall asleep with live jazz music. what a treat.

the one thing i do not understand is the overprizing of hotel rooms in toronto. price does not compare to what you get for 1 night (180 cad for 1 person on a weekday). but that is a general thing in toronto and this hotel was by far the cheapest i found. i have spent lots of nights in other metropolitan areas like toronto and always found an ok priced alternative.

!!!! Worrying about the noise of the jazz disrupting your sleep? You can’t hear it from the rooms! Anyway moving onto why this was such a great stay :). The Rex Hotel is a truly welcoming, fun, comfy, and superbly placed place to stay in Toronto. We were provided with the opportunity for early check-in, excellent daily room cleaning, clean and well-stocked facilities, comfy and attractive bedding and room decor, friendly staff, and free bag storage, all at a competitive price for this perfect area for a short stay. We don’t drive, so it was perfect to be able to walk straight into and towards both the station (for Niagara Falls) and also to be within walking distance of the CN Tower, the Toronto Harbour, Kensington and Chelsea Market, and so so much more. On top of all that we went down one night to watch some jazz and while the atmosphere was not perhaps as bustling as some of the more intimate jazz clubs out there, the musicians are truly stunning and the accompanying food/drinks are well priced and enjoyable :). Basically stay here!

That we didn’t get to stay in it for longer because we underrated how great Toronto is!

The Rex was exactly what I expected it to be. If you're looking for fancy, this isn't it, but if you like charming, ecclectic hotels that have their own identity, this was definitely that. The beds were small and not the greatest but we don't tend to hang out in hotel rooms much so it completely served its purpose for our stay in Toronto. The location is prime and you can't beat the price. It was also incredibly quiet for being above the Jazz bar. We got a room all the way up in the back and we didn't hear anything or really even see any other guests while we were there so it was perfectly quiet.

The floors were kind of dirty and the parking situation was very confusing (not really the hotels fault as they do state that they don't have their own parking). But other than that, everything was exactly what I thought it would be.

Can't beat location. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent and good value. Loved listening to live music while having dinner. Staff friendly and helpful. I walk with a cane. I am quite capable but I do very much appreciate the offers of assistance from the staff. The mattress and pillow were very comfortable.

This is my fourth time at the hotel and it was the least "polished"room. However, it was squeaky clean . Arrangement for hanging clothes could have been better. Facial tissues would be appreciated. Although there was a window the air conditioner made it so that you could not see out the window except for a bit of sky.

During my recent stay at The Rex, I had a meeting at the Sheraton, which conveniently happened to be within walking distance from the hotel. I must say, I found The Rex to be a smart choice in terms of both budget-friendliness and its strategic location. The room I stayed in was cozy and comfortable, providing a pleasant atmosphere throughout my stay. In fact, I have no further complaints or issues to raise about the hotel. Overall, I was highly satisfied with my experience at The Rex.

The location was great (couldn't be better). The late check-in (we arrived at 1 am) went well. Most of the staff was very friendly, especially the morning waiter at the restaurant downstairs and the security.

The hotel does not have elevators, so watch out if you are traveling with heavy luggage, as was our case. The room was tiny, old, and not super clean, but it was quiet. The bathroom was also quite small, and the shower door didn't close properly. So every time we took a shower, the floor became wet.

Great, affordable hotel in the world-famous Rex Hotel Jazz & Blues Bar, with live music every evening. My single room was small but comfy, and a little worn-down but very clean, and the staff were super-friendly and helpful. In contrast to a lot of hotel rooms I've stayed in, this one had plenty of power outlets, which was great for my laptop, phone, etc. The washroom was also really good! One thing I particularly liked about the hotel is that guests have to put a card outside their door to specifically opt *in* to having their rooms cleaned and serviced, rather than the reverse process that most hotels use (and then often ignore). This is a much more eco-friendly approach! Breakfast was served in the bar from 09:30 and, while that's a bit later than most hotels, it works out pretty well if you're not an early riser. There's food available in the bar all day and while there weren't veggie/vegan options for breakfast, the lunch/dinner menu has more choice. There's also a variety of coffee shops and restaurants within close walking distance. If you want to sample the local cannabis, there's a whole range of different shops to buy it from in the same block, some of which are literally 10 seconds walk from the hotel. This was a huge plus for me!

A bit more choice for vegetarians and vegans at breakfast would be lovely!

The breakfast was delicious! The location was ideal for walking to the sites that we wanted to see. The owner (Bob) dropped in daily and interacted with us. The young man from India did everything he could to make our stay enjoyable! The room was small but had everything that we really needed.

I have mobility issues, so getting suitcases up and down the stairs could be an issue. However, both times the young women on the desk were helpful. The double bed was comfortable, but I would rather a queen-sized one.

Pretty much everything. What an amazing place! Staff was great, room was cozy and surprisingly sound proofed quite well, very cozy and well priced. Will be returning here should I ever need a DT hotel again!

((Only because the app asked)) The only downside was our main light was kinda broken / flickering, and there were very limited dining options/ no dairy-free milk for the coffee (just a cheap thing of almond milk woulda done the trick) But honestly, who actually cares about such little things when everything else was perfect? ( There's also a million surrounding places to eat / get coffee so it honestly wasn't an inconvenience at all. )
