This hotel is a grand old dame in the heart of the old city. Ideal for walking about the historic section of the city, through narrow, winding, cobbled streets and past a myriad of outdoor cafes and buildings of prior glory. The hotel, still clothed in yesterday’s finery, is a bit faded and worn and offers plenty of character. Our room matched the rest of the hotel in decor and was small but comfortable. Bed and shower were great. A lot of variety in hot and cold dishes for breakfast but nothing out of the ordinary.

too many little things were wrong with the room. couldn’t hold the shower, because the handle in the middle of the shower head was broken and it would spin around in your hand and spray everything except you !!! To hang the shower head was not working properly so the shower head would droop and the shower sprayed it’s own wall instead. do I pay £400 a night for a 5 star hotel where the damn shower doesn’t work properly, ABSOLUTELY NOT, but I did !!! Let me be clear though. the staff were excellent and extremely friendly.

Slow service on roof bar

Brilliant location, friendly and efficient staff-on our last day they looked after our bags until 15.00, ordered a taxi to take us to the station and, impressively, loaded the bags and got us to check they were all there. Good breakfast, and delicious food in the Brasserie with the bonus of half price wine as it was Wednesday.

Housekeeping was a little slapdash, but quickly remedied with a phone call.

The location was fantastic. Very central to restaurants, historic sites, river walk and parks. There was a fun rooftop restaurant that served drinks only. Over the little balcony off our room that overlooked the opera house.

At the rooftop bar, it would have been nice to order small plates or charcuterie/ cheese plate which doesn’t take a lot of prep

The roof top bar is a complete rip off, charging €18 for regular bourboun or cognac, I believe the same prices in the original restaurant, much better value to be had elsewhere in town and more atmosphere. Hotel should consider dropping prices indoors to create a bit more atmosphere, I'm guessing it's empty because of the prices.

The hotel is in the perfect location to explore Bordeaux. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the square and theatre, which was a great private space to relax. There was an excellent selection at breakfast each morning. The staff were all welcoming and helpful especially the concierge team. It was great to have a small swimming pool and sauna available in a city centre hotel.

Best location in Bordeaux, extremely competent and friendly staff. The Hotel is great, but you can expect that from an InterContinental. However in this case you will pay a bit more than it's deserved.

Room a bit too small with a poor view, and the price quality ratio for the room. Again to say that, in spite of those small complaints, the Hotel is simply great

Breakfast was excellent, staff were so polite and helpful. They were warm and smiling. We would like to thank in particular the concierge Mr Grégory who gave us such useful tips about good restaurants nearby. Two of the restuarants he mentioned are a must to try. They are the Restaurant 1920, and the other is called Delizia Da Bartolo. Abosolutely wonderful! Les Noailles ( the third restaurant that he mentioned) unfortunately is a tourist trap, overrated, snobbish and nothing interesting. All in all we love the stay in the hotel, sure to come back!

Maybe the corridors could be lit up and some direction signs could be installed. It was like a labyrinth!

air conditioning in extremely hot weather not good enough - room far to hot. not being able to get a pre-dinner drink in the inside bar - only bar available early evening was roof top bar which at this time was just too hot.
