We stayed at Hotel La Monnaie in Rochelle for 2 nights in August 2023 on our way down to Bordeaux. It's located within easy walking distance of the beach, the local park, all the main eateries and the stunning old port area. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, with a stylish interior, unique artwork and great facilities. All the staff were super friendly and helpful from arranging a parking space, providing a map of the local area and excellent guidance on the main tourist attractions, recommending places to eat and booking restaurants for us. They also replaced the broken safe in our room within a couple of hours of reporting it. The hotel has a private car park and you need to book in advance, however, there is also a public car park within 5 minutes walking distance. The spa was closed for refurbishment whilst we were there (but we were advised of this in advance) so unable to comment. There was a great choice of both hot and cold food at breakfast - you can eat inside or in their beautiful courtyard. Would highly recommend if you're planning a trip to La Rochelle. We really enjoyed our short stay at Hôtel La Monnaie Art & Spa. The hotel is very well located just on the doorstep to the port and all the bar and restaurants. It was very comfortable, dog friendly, serving a nice breakfast and overall good value for money. The staff attentiveness was exceptional from helping with the luggage to securing a table for the dinner at the local restaurant due to our late arrival. We would highly recommend this place and we hope to be back some day again.

Limited parking spaces and we have to park on the road but it was safe and overall not a problem.

Very nice hotel situated at approx 300 meter from the old port. After 100 meter you enter already the very nice streets full of bars and restaurants. The hotel's reception is very pro-active. Hanna even carried our luggage from the parking (20EUR/day) to our room. Also our Chiuaua was welcome. The kitchen personnel (young guy and an older grey man :-) always presented us fresh orange juice and approached us with some friendly words in the morning. Perfect location !

The staff were excellent. Our sat nav could not get us to hotel because of road closures so we phoned and they talked us in which was not easy as we could not see signs in advance, and because of vehicles behind us could not always take the turning they said. My husband said to me that he would have put the phone down on us and let us get on with it ourselves but they persevered and we eventually arrived. Always very attentive. Really good breakfast, parking and two lovely courtyards to sit with a bottle of wine.

Everything went well, we had stayed at Hotel La Monnaie previously and were very pleased to see the renovations they had made since we last stayed here. The Hotel is very well situated near to the busy cafes and restaurants. The room was very well appointed as was the ensuite bathroom. The staff are very helpful and friendly and nothing too much trouble. We will definitely stay here again when we are next in La Rochelle and look forward to seeing the new Spa.

Charming hotel with truly super staff. They really went the extra mile - guiding us into the underground car park, finding a table at a recommended restaurant, etc. The breakfast was described as the best in La Rochelle and it was certainly excellent. The location is great - right at the Old Port, in the historic centre.

Getting to the hotel was a bit tricky but that was due to the Mayor of La Rochelle’s traffic scheme rather than the fault of the hotel!

This hotel was stunning. We were met by very friendly staff, who upon checking us in, upgraded us to a prestige room which was beautifully decorated, with a lovely en suite and huge bed! The hotel also had parking, which we had reserved when booking the room, it was easy to find and very secure. We didn’t try the breakfast, choosing to source it in La Rochelle each morning which was sometimes easier said than done. This hotel was very close to all restaurants and shops and the staff gave some very good recommendations as to what to do and where to visit. We loved this hotel and will, without doubt, book again.

We were delighted with this hotel which was even better than we'd imagined. From the extremely helpful, friendly and enthusiastic staff who greeted us and helped us park, to their great and appropriate advice on where to eat, and importantly where to avoid, we felt truly valued as customers. The location is simply perfect to visit St Rochelle and its Old Port. You can walk everywhere from this central spot. The building itself is a mix of old and new and quite stylish with a feeling of quality throughout. Although our room was small, it was very well appointed and fully met our needs. Their breakfast is substantial and in our opinion, worth the money. In summary, we were very happy customers who recommend the hotel without reservation and would definitely stay here again given the opportunity.

Parking in the centre of a city is always an issue but this hotel has some dedicated parking which you are advised to book in advance. It's not cheap at €25 a day, but so convenient that I'd strongly recommend it. Finding it is the first challenge since the access point isn't obvious, then the manoeuvring to actually park isn't easy but the staff do a superb job of helping you. They have great patience and expertise in squeezing you in. I'd advise you to then leave the car there until you go, and instead to walk or cycle everywhere you need to go.

Great location and excellent staff whom did their best to help us enjoy our stay! Alexander went the extra mile helping us to get into the hotel Carpark as we were a bit confused. We would stay there again!

Perhaps some areas getting dated but we’re told renovations are happening this year..

The welcome from Arnelle was exceptional - super helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly. We loved the room, the comfort of the bed and general vibe. ….Everyone was so friendly and helpful.

Parking could have been better - the car park is very tight and in spite of telling them what car we had, when we reserved a space, the parking wasn’t managed well - - but hotel staff were on hand to help (and were great).
