The breakfast was lovely. They stayed open for dinner on a night when a manifestation shut down the restaurants around town. Very nice. The room was sizeable and comfortable with one exception- the thermostat in the room did not control the room temp. More on that later. Most of the staff was accommodating and friendly.

When the A/C was left on, the room went down to 58 degrees Fahrenheit. I had to constantly turn on and off the A/C to keep fresh cool (not cold) air in the room. We had a very early taxi pick up for a trip to the airport that did not go well. A staff member arranged the taxi. We originally set the taxi for 4:30 am and thought better of it. We requested a change to 4:00 am. A staff member told us the change had been made but we waited in the street until 4:30. The driver said no one changed the time. I was more than a little upset there was no night manager to make sure we were okay until departure.

We loved the location, the decor, and size of the hotel as well as the warmth and responsiveness of the staff. Our dinner in the small restaurant was lovely. I look forward to being there in the spring when we can eat in the garden.

The electronics in our room were wonky, and we had problems with the TV and WiFi that didn't resolve until the morning we left. This was disappointing. It also looked as if some repair of the wiring was in process, which gave the impression of careless maintenance.

Great location, beautiful room, very quiet yet so close to the center of Montpellier. 3 minutes walk to the train station and 5 minutes to the center. We got lucky and fount parking right outside but there are plenty of parking garages near by. The bed was nice and soft with a warm duvet and plenty of towels in the bathroom. Will definitely stay there again. Just one note on the room size we had. It was perfect for us but it was not a very big room.

Nice comfortable bed and beautifully decorated room. Ten minute walk to city centre. 5 minute walk to closest metro station

No lift to second floor. no shower door in a small space. No parking options (street parking quite expensive - better take car to one of the public parking spaces and walk or take metro back (metro station is only 5 minutes away)

The staff were welcoming and friendly, and able to communicate effectively in English when i ran out of French to say. It was easy to get there on foot from the bus station and train station, with only the ongoing road works in Montpellier (so not within the hotel's control) posing a bit of difficulty. The room was well appointed - appreciate the many power points and USB charging points available. Also appreciate the welcome drink offered to each guest.

Just a suggestion - perhaps they can include one or two savoury items on their breakfast menu.

Very comfortable bed and nice and clean. Nice decor and bathroom. It was really good to have a good quality coffee machine and I appreciated the bottle of water. Really great air conditioning. The best I have had on my trip: easy to use and very quiet at night. Much appreciated when it’s +30 degrees outside :-)

The shower design means that water floods the floor quite badly. I had to use three towels to clean it up. The light bulb above the mirror in the bathroom wasn’t working so it was quite dim in there.

Hotel Maison Bayard is a 19th Century house a stone's throw from the main square (Place de la Comédie) and only 5 minutes walk from the main train station (Montpellier-Saint-Roche). Most places that you will want to see or do are within easy walking distance but the hotel is sufficiently far from the noise and activity of the town centre to be very peaceful. It is a tiny hotel and only has 7 bedrooms so it is very personal. The staff are delightful and take great care in making you feel at home. The selection of wines and cocktails at the bar are extensive and excellent. The coffee is wonderful. The wifi speed is exceptional for a hotel and there are interesting tech additions such as the motorised curtains, free Netflix and a very good bluetooth speaker in the room for your entertainment. If you are going to Montpellier and want a relaxed and friendly stay then you could do no better but book early as they fill up very quickly.

Cute little boutique hotel not too far from the train station, and very close to the city centre as well. Especially the patio was amazing. Furnished in a modern way.

I was a little disappointed with the bathroom - although modern, the shower was just badly designed as water splashes everywhere, there's literally no barrier. Beds a little too soft for my taste.

It’s very different in an old house. Although the room was small it had everything we wanted. Close walking distance to some nice local restaurants and also very close to the main train station and not far from the shopping centre

It was a large room and carefully considered. It had Netflix, a giant bathtub, coffee and tea maker, and a view of the garden. The staff was friendly.

The breakfast could expand to include some savory items (not so many sweets) and if the staff does not understand a request in English, it would be helpful they told us that instead of agreeing. For example, I asked twice for separate meal checks and didn't get them. But that's minor compared to the comfort and cleanliness.
