Perfect location near Subway and is located next to many transport and food facilities, restaurants, cafes. Room and shower with a lot of space, clean .Basic breakfast

There isn't a smoking area inside the hotel area despite the fact that actually there is an open yard where smoking is not allowed same for the rooms. This is forcing any smoker to being outside hotel front door even in early morning hours and makes it really unpleasant experience for smokers that have to get out every time to just do something normal that could be easily done inside the internal yard.. was too annoying that every time we had to be outside the whole hotel to smoke. I am not sure if in Berlin this is normal but in other hotels in Europe never had this problem of absence of a place located inside hotel boundaries for smokers.

I am very appreciative of the assistance and empathy I received from the gentleman on the front desk the evening of September 7 when I experienced some medical difficulty due to the intense heat in Berlin that day. He was very helpful in getting me ice and eventually calling the ambulance, and I am so grateful it was him who was on duty that night. Please let him know my bicycle trip went well! The breakfast buffet was excellent, so plentiful and clean, and the staff were very efficient and welcoming. Having the breakfast buffet to start the tourist day was a big reason for us to choose Hotel 38.

It was unfortunate the elevator suffered a serious breakdown over the September 7 and 8 weekend. The staff did react well enough to assisting with baggage transport down the steps.

This is a lovely, boutique hotel in Berlin's Mitte, in easy strolling distance of transport links, bars and restaurants. It's a superb location to be based in if you want to explore the city, particularly the arty and creative sector where the hotel is located. Great shower, comfy beds (notwithstanding Berlin pillows!) and a good buffet breakfast.

There was no air conditioning in our room (Room C), just an electric fan which was okay but in temperatures of 33-34C, air conditioning is essential. Although the breakfast was beautifully presented and top quality, it became tedious after four mornings.

Hotel 38 is well presented and my room was super clean and tidy when I arrived. The location is fabulous and the breakfast is lovely. I liked being able to sit outside on the terrace. Check in was effortless. Staff are all friendly and polite.

Check out was confusing as a non-German speaking individual leaving before 7am (I didn’t understand the form at all). The complimentary coffee in the room was awful - not sure if the machine I had was broken but it was just a cup of brown, bitty water… not much of a coffee at all! Also, I wish breakfast started a little earlier than 8 (not sure if this is just a weekend thing though?) My room faced onto the road so was a little loud with the s-Bahn but the windows did a good job at drowning most of it out.

Room - spacious, very comfy bedding except the pillows are not fluffy, bathroom was also very good (water pressure, quality of materials very good) Breakfast - 2 point out of 5 - not very interesting, it's a decent buffet, I find it disappointing to see Nescafe for the breakfast buffet in a hotel where you pay 200 EUR per night. They could make a good filter coffee at least. Location - great

The receptionist was a very nice, welcoming, talkative gentleman There was another woman again in the reception team I guess, she was super rude, and one of my family members was late for check out. Instead of calling the room, or going to the room, she kept coming back to us and annoying us, speaking very mad, impolitely - as if I managed everyone else's room. She should learn manners ;)

I liked this place very much, everything was perfect, starting from its location to the cleanness of the room. The staff are amazing — helpful, welcoming, always ready to solve any issue which occurs. Breakfast is good, I’m vegetarian and was pretty comfortable with the meal options they provided. Special thanks to the tea from samovar ❤️😃 The interior design of the hotel is so stylish, it was pleasure to stay there. The room itself was super comfortable, I literally have nothing to complain about. Scent, cleanness, bed sheets, interior, bath, space — everything was great, all the necessities were by hand. The location is also convenient, 17 mins walk to the Gates, the area is safe and clean, there are many nice places to eat out, REWE right on the corner, pharmacy in case you need it, coffee shops. In addition to this, S-Bahn, Tram, Bus and U-Bahn stations can be reached within 2-5 mins from the hotel.

The wait before check-in was a little bit long, but even given that the staff still did their best to accommodate me as soon as possible before the official check-in hour (3 pm). During the wait time I could sit in the lobby, drink coffee and work, for additional price (8 euro) I also had breakfast.

The free breakfast in the morning was phenomenal. They put out a wonderful array of food, juices, cereals cold meats, breads, rolls, coffee, tea, etc. and the staff always keep everything replenished. They were very efficient in cleaning off tables also to make room for more guests.

The bathroom shower, essentially a wet room, with no door for privacy and the sink was waaaaay too big for the counter space it was on. The sink was not a good design at all. Water tended to splash everywhere and there was no room at all around the sink to put any of your toiletries. Smaller sinks would work best.

The location of the hotel is excellent in terms of getting to know Berlin's central attractions. Many central destinations are within walking distance. There are also very good restaurants nearby. In many respects, our room met the needs of an active tourist who spends most of the day in the city. Throughout our stay in Berlin there was a heat wave. The air conditioner in the room came in handy. However, during the coolest hours of the night, we turned it off and opened the windows, fresh air and the song of a blackbird as a bonus :)The bathroom was very clean, functional and spacious enough. The staff, especially at the reception, was very friendly and helpful.

The room was tiny and did not contain any kind of sitting area, there were only narrow passageways next to the beds. There was also little storage space for travel equipment.

Great location - accessible to lots of public transit and very walkable area. The breakfast was well stocked and the restaurant on site was very delicious.

The bed, specifically the pillows were not as comfortable as we had hoped. The room was a little tight for two people and our belongings. We did not get the discount at the restaurant even though we specified we were guests at the hotel.

The breakfast was tasty and offered many different options, and also what I think was Käsekuchen, which was nice to try out. Delicious! The location was good, and it was pretty close to the U-Bahn/S-Bahn station which made it easy to get to and from the hotel. The receptionist that welcomed me when I checked in was very nice and showed a great passion for his job. He was great at telling me how the hotel worked, show me the map of the city and tell me some information and backstory about the hotel. 10/10 would go back to the hotel and experience the check-in talk again <3

Room was a bit unusual since the “bathroom part” wasn’t separated from the “bedroom part”, but instead just next to each other. It wasn’t bad though, just a bit different to what I’m used to.
