Excellent location, close to a large train station, you can get to different stations without any problems. Not far from the hotel there is a Museum Island. Right across the road there is a pier where boats depart for a cruise along the river. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They helped us buy a city pass and cruise tickets. The room is nice, clean and big. Comfortable bathroom, mini fridge, excellent air conditioning. Very good breakfast, many different dishes, vegetables, sweets. The waiters will bring you coffee. We chose the room with view to the river - very nice.

Pillows were too soft, not enough power sockets in the room.

Excellent location, large, clean and quiet room, comfortable bed, good heating, the lights and the plumbing in the bathroom worked fine, great breakfast.

The bathroom was a little small relative to the size of the room and the plumbing and the bathtub a little dated. The room price a little bit overrated. Otherwise, the overall impression good.

Pillows awful…….even though they had a pillow “menu” this was not communicated in the room so I had to ask in reception. The choice was overly complicated and the descriptions mostly meant nothing, rather flowery names. I only wanted a firm pillow…..most hotels think you want those terrible feather things which give absolutely NO support!!! They also delivered the wrong one and the housekeeping staff member was very surly. One female receptionist was very rude when I asked why my room hadn’t been cleaned by 3pm….she was indifferent to the situation and also very miserable. Not a good impression and bad ambassador for the hotel.

The Melia Hotel in Friedrichstrasse is a superb Hotel right in the heart of Berlin on the banks of the Spree and within walking distance of the Museum Island , Checkpoint Charlie the Brandenburg Gate the Jewish Museum and many other attractions. It is a located a very short distance from the rail station which is an efficient cheap and convenient method of travel further afield in Berlin. Right from the start the hotel and staff impressed me, from the lovely fragrance that hits you on entering the reception, the polite helpful and friendly reception staff, the cleanliness and comfort of the hotel rooms and the wonderful breakfast food choice included in our price which was available in the dining room. The dining staff were quick and efficient and helpful and the food choice and selection was superb. Our room was warm clean and tastefully decorated, the bed was comfortable - the one and only fault for me was the pillows which were not firm enough for my personal taste but that’s a minor criticism and entirely subjective. The free toiletries provided were from Rituals and were available to purchase separately should anyone wish to, I bought a shower gel as I loved the fragrance. The shower was great with plenty of hot water. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was a great idea. A special mention should go to Kai the on duty concierge for his helpfulness, the information he provided to us and for the knowledgeable interesting conversations we had with him during our stay. A very charming, witty funny and interesting guy who is an asset to the Melia Hotel. All in all we enjoyed our stay in Berlin and would definitely recommend this excellent hotel and would definitely book again for its location, quality and high standard should we ever return to Berlin.

Everything was excellent and of the highest standard. Wasn’t keen on the hotel Tapas Bar food where we ate on the first night - but that’s a matter of personal taste. I would suggest some sort of extractor fan in the bathroom as it sometimes felt like a sauna, but again that’s personal preference.

The breakfast was simply awesome as regards choice. The tapas bar was great to come back to for a nightcap at the end of the evening. Cannot fault any of the staff. The location of the hotel is excellent - just 1 minute's walk from Friedrichstrasse train station.

The air-conditioning in the room struggled to cool the room down. The quality of the hairdryer in the bathroom was poor. Out of its three heat settings, the first two provided very little drying power, and the third setting, while more powerful, was too hot. While the choice at breakfast was excellent, the hot foods were only lukewarm at best.

I chose the hotel at first sight... and it was the best choice. Perfect location with the metro station in front of the hotel. Excellent breakfast, the "perfect" room... "Alles in ordnung"

The cleanliness needs some attention. We had the room tidy anyway, but once or twice I saw broken things on the floor in the bathroom that they didn't see to pick up and didn't see that something was finished and needs replacing. But it was done as soon as we asked the reception. So, no problem, they have a solution for everything.

The bed was so incredibly comfortable! We didn’t use the facilities so I can’t comment on those or the breakfast but the staff were lovely and the location was excellent! It wasn’t more than a 20-30 minute walk for most of the things we wanted to do. The staff were absolutely wonderful and our room was so spacious! We absolutely loved the hotel.

There were a few hairs in the shower when we arrived which I didn’t mention only because we’d been up for over 36 hours by the time I had a shower so I rinsed them off and then went to bed (we had zero issues with this the next couple of days so it must’ve been a one-off). The bit that holds the shower head was also broken which we mentioned to reception and they wrote it down and were going to fix it. The TV was also not brilliant and didn’t have Netflix or anything which I only noted as we were hoping to relax and watch something after our incredibly long first day but it’s not exactly a requirement. Just a note though! Breakfast was approximately €60 per day which seems a lot but not having breakfast included actually turned into a positive as we got to try more local cafes!

Location is everything and the Melia is perfectly located in one of Berlin’s most famous streets. Close to the Unter Den Linden and all the key sites. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very nice and have everything you need. Breakfasts are very good as well and an excellent Tapas restaurant attached.

As with many hotels in Europe getting the right room temperature was a challenge at times. Although this was not the fault of the hotel, on both mornings I had breakfast and I wanted to get an orange juice from the drink machine. Several people were behind me. We were held up on each day by several selfish young people filling up their water bottles for the day with water from the same machine. One girl had three bottles to fill and snapped at me when I complained to her. If you want water for the day go and buy a bottle - it costs about 35 Euros. Don’t hold up people wanting to have a quick breakfast. Downright rudeness and I hope the hotel takes note.
