The staff at this property go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. We appreciated their willingness to help us out with some car rental return translation--they took extra time to assist us. We enjoyed sitting on the patio and enjoying the afternoons. The property is close to the fabulous Englisher Garten, so those who are runners will be happy with the extensive trails there. (There's also several biergartens in the park, but they are 1.5-2 mile walks, one way) We are always a bit skeptical with in-house restaurants, but this one is special. We noticed that many locals use it as a place to celebrate a birthday dinner. The Clarins shower products were appreciated, and the rooms are decorated nicely.

My one (and this is huge) advice: invest either in air conditioning OR screens for the rooms OR at least fans. We spent three nights at the property, miserable at night. We were (unfortunately) placed right above the outdoor patio, and as late as midnight, we could hear loud talking so we had to close the window, making it even hotter. In addition, the windows do not have screens, so mosquitoes (Munich has mosquito issues) can make their way in. If screens are not possible, then at least have fans available. Your hotel is so well-run and such a fantastic place. It's a shame to have guests not get a good night's (in this case, three) sleep.

The room is very well equipped, with coffee machine, small fridge, a very good bed etc... I have stayed in two different rooms, one was having the view to the road and the second time took one with the view to the garden. The view to the garden was fantastic and very relaxing. The breakfast is excellent, in a super nice and cozy place, quiet, many varieties of food, delicious and excellent quality. The team at the breakfast and in the front desk was extremely friendly and very helpfull, fulfilling all the needs and requests I had. The hotel is very close to Tram/Bus station. You can also find supermarkets at 10 min walk. The nearby restaurant, next to the hotel is great, charming served delicious food . The waiter was outstanding.

Wonderful place, right next to the English Garden. Cute hotel, which I have been coming back to for many years and we love it. Most of the time the price is right and the food very good.

Wish they would be an animal and smoke free hotel. No AC, so the only way to temperate the room is to open the window, which is fine, however if someone around the room decides to smoke your room will smell like an old ash tray for quite a while as there is no cross ventilation. Also they do not have rooms with showers which can be a bit difficult for someone older or walking impaired.

The check in directions were not clear for after hours check in. Getting the key from the lock box and getting in all good - I wandered around the main hotel looking for a room number that did not exist because the directions did not indicate that the building was a separate unit to the LEFT of the main entrance (not the right). Also my room was on the 3td floor not the 2nd as indicated. A bit of a bother coming in on a late train at 1:30 in the morning! Otherwise this hotel is excellent!

This was one of the most relaxing and beautiful hotels I have ever stayed at! The front is a traditional facet which immediately makes you feel you are travelling in time with style! All staff wore traditional bavarian outfit which was very nice touch! There are 2 buildings almost identical I believe up to 3 floors and the one buiding hosts their famous restaurant. The other hosts the rooms and there is a wonderful buffet with many options and a back terrace that is just a lovely place to have breakfast calm and in nature (borders the English garden)! It was priced very competitively for what it offered except from location, which is not convenient..far from the city center with no attractions nearby. But maybe this is also an advantage as it leaves one enjoy the calmness of the place, I dont know. Highly recommended if you need to relax!

I had to change 2 public transportation to reach the hotel, which took time especially with bags...if you pay for a taxi then it becomes equal to staying at a nice hotel in the city center. Maybe a regular mini bus to the airport and via city center is a good way to solve this. Also the rooms need to be on par with the rest of the beautiful hotel. Now they are just average.

- it’s location near the English garden. our room was lovely, roomy, and functioned relatively well.

-I need a small fridge for medication. we didn’t have one although I thought a 4 star hotel would. The staff kindly made up ice buckets for me daily, which was okay yet not as consistent as a fridge. Our room was in “the other” building so treks back for breakfast were chilly but not far. The location of the hotel was okay. I found it to be a bit far from some of the downtown venues and we had to walk about 20-25 minutes at 4 a.m. to catch the S-bahn to the airport. it was dark and a bit of a hike with luggage. Considering the cost of the venue and the meals (breakfast, then supper), I would have liked a complementary shuttle (perhaps one tied in with another hotel to accommodate the numbers?). The staff, mostly, were very good.

Traditional style hotel about 30 mins from central Munich by easy public transport. Parking ok. Situated in a really nice part of town near Englischer Garten. Very leafy and apparently a posh suburb. The attached restaurant serves excellent Bavarian food and is usually fully booked so book a table with the hotel in advance. Our room was roomy with a bath/shower. Good pressure. Happy with it. Staff very helpful. They sell the travel card at the desk. Really easy commute into town. Honestly would save your money and stay here especially if you are arriving by car. Better than staying in noisy central Munich but we are middle aged couple.

Possibly slightly on the pricy side but because we booked on the day we got a discount so happy overall.

Nice location, a more upscale hotel for Germany standards.

Not a complaint since most of Europe does not have A/C. Would be nice to add for the summer as it was very hot in the hotel and room during the day. No screens on the doors/window which ment bugs would come in at night, even with the lights off. Once again you will experience this with most hotel locations in Germany.

The charm is spot on! The sauna/steam/cold shower/rest/repeat space is very clean and provisioned very well! The breakfast is lovely and the service and concierge are impeccable - I look forward to my next stay. Thank you for a restful and carefree stay!

As an American - I was acutely aware of absent air conditioning and elevators. BUT this is the trade off one can expect when choosing a boutique hotel with character and history.

This hotel is charming, well run and very comfortable. I would stay here any time I come to Munich! Truly pleasant staff, rooms, beds and breakfast was delicious. The sun room and terrace are delightful, and the attached restaurant was delicious.

I honestly wouldn't change a thing! The underground garage was a surprise at first, but we quickly got used to it, and it was so nice to have attached, covered parking in the rain and cold.
