Everything was above and beyond our expectations. We felt so pampered and spoiled by the staff during our stay. The hotel was quaint and paid exceptional care to details. Our rooms had robes, slippers, extra towels, relaxing spray for our pillows, and little extras that may not have made our bags for the trip. The property is very clean. Breakfast was amazing and had much to offer a variety of tastes. Dinner was fabulous (a reservation is required for dinner, but easily done). The staff that greeted and cared for us every morning was so personable, friendly, and attentive. The view of Trier at breakfast was peaceful and relaxing. We highly recommend this hotel! If we ever return, we will definitely be staying there.

There is not a thing we did not like about this place. They did everything so well, to point that we felt like we downgraded at our next hotel. Our only disappointment was there were no exercise facility outside of the swimming pools. We did enjoy the pool ; )

The hotel was beautiful. Our room was extremely comfortable, especially the bed. The location was just a ten minute walk from the city center. The staff was especially friendly to us and went out of their way to make sure our stay was great.

My wife loved the breakfast buffet. The selection of cheeses, meats, pastries was great. My complaint was I love scrambled eggs for breakfast. They made some for me but they were not that good. However, I was able to make up for it with their other choices. The wifi was an issue for me. I had a work issue come up and had a difficult time staying connected to the internet.

After an absolutely disasterous experince in another hotel for one night in Trier we found this hotel and had hopes that it would be stink free and clean. I should explain that my husband and I are extremely sensitive to scents and the previous hotel's "allergy free room" had used the world's most scented laundry detergent. My husband slept in a K95 mask. The Villa Hugel was our lifesaver. We even completely changed our itinerary so we could stay here two nights. The bed was a dream come true with a memory foam topper. The rainfall shower was a "terrifying and divine" experience, so much so that we may get one at our house. The staff were fantastic and showed us around the property and to our room.

This is not at all specific to this hotel, but the smoking allowed on terraces/outdoor dining areas is absolutely heartbreaking. We just wanted to watch the sunset, but we couldn't because of the extreme amount of smoke. I know this is prevalent throughout Germany, but for 2 people with asthma and who are sensitive to smell, it did cause a considerable amount of grief.

The staff were really helpful and friendly. The location is excellent - fantastic views from the spacious balconies and just a 20 minute walk into the centre. The room was very comfortable with a great bathroom and giant bed - which provided refuge and comfort on the cold and rainy days towards the end of our stay... I made full use of the amazing sauna facility too - an added treat on a cold afternoon, and the Skypool is amazing!

One of the things we both love about Germany is the quality of the bread, and we both found the breakfast rolls a bit disappointing (bland?), but the multiple varieties of bread were all absolutely delicious and the breakfast is certainly one of the highlights. So, that's definitely a minor point, and on our last day we even thought the rolls had improved, so who knows, maybe we just got unlucky. As a vegetarian, I also would have welcomed more variety in the dinner menu, but that just meant we went to the excellent Brauhaus pub/restaurant along the road and tried out some other places in the city, so again, not necessarily a negative - who wants to eat in the hotel all the time anyway? Surprisingly limited TV options for such a good hotel.

Staff were happy and attentive. Breakfast was amazing. Room was clean and a good size with separate seating area. Bed was very comfortable. There wasn’t a kettle, I asked for some hot water so they bought a kettle in. Shower was excellent. We didn’t use the pool, as we were out sightseeing both days. Trier is a 15minute easy walk. Outside terrace with lovely views across Trier and fabulous cakes for tea!

Only small car park, but we could park up the road for free.

very spacious room with large bathroom and cupboard space. Even had a sofa and lounger and Nespresso machine. No great view but that didn't bother us because the view from the breakfast room, bar terrace and pool was wonderful. Very quiet room and a mature clientele! Infinity pool was wonderful, plus an indoor pool, three saunas and a (payable) hot tub. No dining facilities but an excellent gastro pub about 5 minutes walk. Breakfast included every imaginable type of bread, jam, eggs, hams, juices, cereals, sparkling wines, etc, etc.

It's pricey but the current exchange rate doesn't help. Not a central location but only 5 minutes by taxi. No other problems whatsoever.

What did we like? Everything! This place is amazing and we will be back. It's worth visiting Trier just to experience this hotel; its excellent and luxurious at every turn. We arrived early so a quick walk in the neighbourhood and then returned to find our room was ready early. The room design was well though out, really lovely and extremely comfortable. Most of the staff appear to be quite young (not hard at my age), giving the hotel a vibrance; they deliver service competently with elegance and finesse. They were friendly and supportive; attention to detail appears to be routine. The inclusion of the "relax" area adds so much value; we ended up abandoning touring plans just to spend an afternoon by the roof top pool and relax area. The restaurant for breakfast is excellent. We also had dinner in the restaurant - it was just fabulous. After dinner we retired to the bar for a couple of drinks - all in all a perfect evening. Trier and this hotel was our last stop during our summer holiday - and the crown of our travels.

We had to leave and return to reality.

Villa Hügel is all about service. People really care. Our room was exceptional: Spacious, nice furniture, huge bath room with rain shower and extra bath tub. The sky pool has a comfortable temperature and you can watch the top of Trier from there. Breakfast has an exceptional number of choices. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back.

Everything was so superlux!! I really-really love Hotel Villa Hügel - it is so pretty, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was sooo good and there was lots of food options, staff is so friendly and helpful all the time! And the view - there is no enough words to describe how beautiful it is!!! Cannot wait to come back soon! :) (L)

This was a great experience. The room was great, the breakfast really extensive. We enjoyed the infinity pool and sauna. Our dinner revealed that the restaurant was very good. But above all from reception, over breakfast service to the restaurant all the staff was attentive, friendly and smiling!
