Hotel Aktaion Syros

This is a beautiful yet unusual property. The staff are absolutely incredible. They are very inviting and most helpful and accommodating. We arrived around 9pm and after arriving at the property we were greeted by a very kind and enthusiastic host.

We booked a room with a larger bed for my husband and I, and our two little ones who are 3y and 1y. The door to our room was on the small side, so there is no walking in the room directly, especially if you’re holding a bag, or a baby, but we made it work. In our room there was no place to fit a crib or playpen so all 4 of us smushed into the bed. It was cozy but a bit uncomfortable.

Friendly, helpful staff. The cleaner did a very thorough job and deserved a good tip. Breakfast varied and plentiful. Room very comfortable. We were initially disappointed not to be able to book a sea view room, but on reflection our rear room was quieter and did not have the fierce afternoon sun. Everyone mentions the stairs - but they are a feature! I have a very arthritic knee and walk with a stick / but managed to go up and down three times each of the six days we were there. Not a negative / you know they are there: just roll with it!

We stayed for only one night, but we were able to check in earlier as the room was available before the checkin time, which was amazing! The breakfast was amazing and everyone was so kind! Totally worth the visit if in Syros

Excellent staff...and Dimitri was spot on with his advice for dining and sight seeing....breakfast was delicious but that is a under statement....I've only had one other breakfast that was comparable in Greece. I would highly recommend this hotel. Also being on the water front the view of the harbor was great and the town is along the water front...makes for easy excess. Busses are a short walk and stick to there schedule. All and all we had a most memorable stay on Syros...😁😁

I can not think of one thing that was not to like

Good breakfast, good sized room, cleaned every day. Great location, beautiful view over Hermoupolis regardless of time of day or night but still quiet (October). Very characterful building. Easy to get to restaurants, cafes, port and Little Venice. Tip: Reception is located in the coffee shop below; entrance is around the side of the building.

No overnight Reception. There was no-one around in our arrival, despite specifying our timings and the hotel phone number wasn't working. We had 15 minutes of thinking we might not have a bed for the night. Also, although there was a kettle in the room there were limited provisions, just a few coffee sachets. Would have been nice if they'd provided tea and milk.

I’ve stayed at Aktaion years ago and this time I had the chance to stay again. It was great just like I remember. My room had a wonderful view, it was spacious and spotless clean. Staff was very kind and the breakfast was great. In the room the a/c and wifi worked fine.

Nothing at all

Location is the best in town. Many stairs to the rooms but worth the haul. Breakfast is taken in the bar/reception area on the ground floor. The choices are vast and the service amazing. The best part? The staff, all so friendly, helpful and caring. Have been before and will go again. My first choice in Ermopouli.

All of it. The room, the breakfast, the staff, the location.

Great location by the port. Very quiet and clean. Great value for money. But foremost has such amazing vibes, having maintained the original architecture of the building. Seldomly you can find a hotel with a character. Depending on the room you may have amazing view to the port.

Depending on your floor stairs may be a bit of a pain but personnel is very attentive and assist with all lungages

Excellent spot along the quai. Nice little semi-private balcony to sit at in the shade of the morning and after the sun went behind the hills. Watched the crescent moon and Venus set behind the hills. You can see the hotel immediately from the spot where the Ferries land and it is a short walk. Can't miss it. Very nice (full-fat, natural!) yogurt and honey for breakfast (heavier things available for those who want). Great little town to relax in and the hotel was an ideal spot to base my stay in town.

Nothing to complain about.

Location is good. One would think that it might be a noisy in the evenings but it was quiet enough for someone to sleep. Breakfast was very nice. Overall decor of the hotel is lovely and staff very helpful.

I am not sure if there was a lift. I did not look for it as in my case there was no need, but maybe someone with limited mobility may find it useful.
