This was a great hotel overall, plenty of free parking onsite, great lobby area with Happy Hour and welcoming/friendly staff. Breakfast was plentiful, lots of fresh pastries, and hot and cold items. Decor was simple and modern, every part of the hotel was spotlessly clean and the expresso machines in the rooms was a nice addition. The room had a huge window spanning the whole length & plenty of storage space. As the hotel is located on top of a hill you have fantastic views of either the mountains or the river (Beware the hotel is at the top of a rather steep hill from the town centre but the views from the rooms are worth it) Forest Lagoon is a short 5 minute drive away and highly recommend it, one of the best ones we visited in Iceland
The bizarre layout of the bathrooms was really off-putting travelling as friends, the toilet and sink were on one side of the bed with a door that didn't fully close, the shower was the other side of the twin bed with no door so there was very little privacy, this was a disappointment to what was a really lovely modern clean hotel. The beds themself were very comfy but TINY length and width wise. I am 5'10 and my feet hung off I spent 2 nights terrified of rolling over in case I fell out. Food at the bar was frankly terrible, the £30 burger and chips were late, cold and to be honest the worst thing I had in Iceland but the happy hour made up for it. Personally I wouldn't recommend eating in the bar area, I heard better things about the restaurant though.

located on top of the hill, in a central position. Just next to the active swimming pool, visible from our window. Spacious room, well furnished and new. the bathroom separated into two spaces, this is helpful to accelerate the use by the two of us. It has nice common spaces for an evening chat and a fantastic restaurant, Aurora, for breakfast and dinner, much appreciated specially as very few restaurants open in the city at this time of the year.

My daughter and I shared a twin bedded room with walk in shower to one side and toilet plus washbasin on the other side, behind the bed head wall. This worked well for us. Huge picture window overlooked the town’s geothermally heated swimming pool and hills beyond. There was plenty of space for luggage and a comfy bench seat. We had a special birthday meal in the hotel dining room. It was superb in every respect!
Nothing.

Largest bathroom of seven different hotels we stayed in while visiting Iceland! Massive window and view of the beautifully snow covered mountains. Two small windows allows for cooling off the room after watching the sun set behind the mountain which also made the room quite warm.
Although close to the Main Street in town with all of the shops and restaurants, the hill to get back to the hotel was daunting after a filling dinner and drinks.

Size of the room was fine, enough place for clothes (stayed six nights there), bed was comfortable
Breakfast every morning exactly the same - got boring as we stayed six nights, the layout of the shower and toilet is a bit weird. Especially the toilet direct behind the bed was not so cool - especially as the door did not close really good... A totally no go: no curtains who darkened the room as good as possible. Light got through without problems. A lot of travel groups with some weird attitude.

The room was a very good size and the shower was particularly good with a strong water flow. I was very comfortable. The breakfast was one of the best I've seen in iceland, so much choice of hot and cold foods, excellent.
I didn't like the placement of my room in that it was on the ground floor next to the main road so not a good view also it was very close to main reception so I could hear noise from other guests coming and going. Also the TV had a choice of 2 channels that worked in English and the subtitles didn't work on the foreign channels. These are not things that would stop me visiting again.

A very nice, clean, comfortable, corporate feeling hotel. Rooms were large and location is across from the local swimming pool but quite an uphill hike from downtown. Food was quite expensive so we did not eat at the hotel. A decent value for our one night stay but lacking in ambience or an Icelandic vibe
Location was fine if you have a car but was quite far from downtown restaurants and shopping if you are walking.

Room was perfect with an amazing view of the snowy mountains. Reception and bar staff were always really helpful and friendly. The food in the restaurant was amazing, everything tasted great and breakfast downstairs was equally good, with a decent range of vegan and meat options.
The big rug could have been cleaner but this is really looking for improvement!

Icelandair Akureyri was a refreshing and pleasant change compared to a couple of previous depressing hotels we stayed in on our trip to Iceland. The lobby is sleek and inviting. Our room was full of light and air. It was a proper family room with a separate area for kids: bunk bed + wardrobe. Breakfast choice was one of the best we had in Iceland.
