This was our second stay at Hotel Dynheimar in Akureyri for a work trip. We like the convenience of being able to check in ourselves. The design of the place is amazing, great vibe. The rooms are just what you need for a quick stay where you are not planning on hanging out at the hotel. The location is also perfect for exploring the town of Akureyri on foot. The hotel restaurant, which is located in another building is very good and cozy.

The rooms are pretty small and don't leave a lot of space for anything extra. There is no proper lounge area, just hallways and rooms. And you have to go outside to the next building if you want breakfast. But these are all minor inconveniences.

This hotel is so freaking cool! The details are amazing and it’s so different from anywhere else we’ve stayed. The check/in our process is all done through email/text - ridiculously easy. The mini bar in your room is free AND they have free bikes you can use to ride around town. All around just an awesome hotel and town! Oh and the restaurant is a must - we read another review about it and decided to go, we didn’t have reservations but they were able to fit us in. One of the best meals we’ve ever had and the service was exceptional!

Clean room. Very convenient location. Free parking just outside. Smart modern design. Generous complimentary drinks and chocolate. Very friendly staff.

TV did not work, despite repeated attempts to repair (bank holiday and difficult to find professional repair man). A little bit noisy as other guests were coming in late from parties. We also had our sons staying in a room on 2nd floor in the main hotel building with a great view over the sea but they suffered from the excessive heat.

Locationwise it was perfect, as it was close to the city center. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was great.

Unfortunately walls are as thin as paper, def not soundproof- and could hear everything my neighbors were doing, I mean everything. Also in terms of the cleaning, it was below average as I dropped something by mistake, went to get it under the bed and saw a lot of dust. There is no staff or anyone to help in case needed, responses from booking were not quick and in most times not very helpful.

This was my second stay at the hotel. I love the design and feel - really quirky and I already knew the room was small - so wasn't worried about that. Location is excellent and the only issue I did have (locked out of my room with my phone with the keypad entry number inside) was dealt with quickly

TV works via the internet and to get the English speaking channels you often had to reboot the TV several times otherwise they just showed no signal. Expensive - however, everything in Akureyri in August is expensive!!

The entry code for the room we received was not working causing us blocking the door. Let me just say that it was not the reception we anticipated at 2am. There was no one around to help. Luckily we noticed a text from the hotel with another code and somehow managed to unlock the door despite the block on it.

Cool room, Smart tv, very comfy bed. Whole place in general have a cool vibe. No contact with the staff (code access to the room) so checking in is super fast and easy.

No closet for clothes, thin walls (you can hear everything), and open shower, even though really nice, the water didn't drain properly so you have to squidgy the whole bathroom after taking a shower

Very stylish room

Well I cannot complain, I booked a small double room. But I could not imagine that the room would so small we could not even bring our luggage into the room, because then we would not have space left where to step on. This was probably the most expensive room of all my stays in terms of cost per night and square meter. (No complaint, and the room was very stylish)

This was a last-minute booking. We were literally a few blocks away needing a spot for the night and found this through Booking.com. It was a bit confusing for us at first, #1 because everything is self-check in we arrived before all our instructions had been received and #2 because this hotel has several "campuses" and the one the mapping app took us to (which also had the name spelled out) turned out not to be the right building. But the kind gentleman on the other end of the help line phone in the lobby got me straightened out easily enough. I will admit to being a little "put off" by the physical "lobby" of the first property and asked a young couple checking in if their room was ok. They invited this strange old lady to take a look and it was so modern compared to the building itself! Our building next door had a funky old hotel vibe with tons of memorabilia decorating the lobby area. We booked the small Queen room and it was absolutely delightful! The only "issue" was that it took us a bit to realize that the heat was coming up from the floors and it took a while to rewarm the room from the open window. The coffee/tea service set up was nice. Ceramic mugs with saucers, glass drinking glasses and wine glasses. And a true Queen sized bed, not a couple of twins pushed together and a great shower with very nice linens. Comfy, clean and fun. We never could get much on the TV but we didn't miss it.

Maybe the booking.com description could be a bit more descriptive about the fact that there are several buildings under the name Hotel Akureyri. It seems like a fascinating concept of taking older hotels and putting new brand rooms inside. We got a lovely email directly from the property owners the next day. My 75 yr old husband and I spent 10 days driving the Ring Road and I am only just now caught up enough to begin making my reviews of the unique places we stayed. This was the most unique of all.

Great WiFi. Clean and stylish. Good spacious shower. Good location. Helpul staff. A lot of power outlets.

There is a desk but it is so close to the bed that it couldn't be used for a laptop comfortably. Some minor details should be fixed such as broken toilet paper holder and led lighting that didn't work as well as broken light bulb by the bed - only minor details that I didn't even bother asking to be fixed.
