Despite some oddities about the place, the Centrum was a nice place to stay. My room was very generous in size, with a good-sized bathroom, and everything was spotless. The elevator to the rooms is at the back of the bar and restaurant, and it’s a bit strange to wheel your suitcase past tables of people eating and drinking in order to get to your room. But it’s not such a big deal. The email I got a couple of days before arrival had some errors, and it might be helpful for people to have the correct information: 1. The email said you could park in front of the hotel if there was space available. But note that on some days the city closes off the street in front of the hotel, Hafnarsttæti, entirely and makes it for pedestrians only. Google Maps will direct you down Hafnarstræti, but you’ll find when you get there that it’s blocked off. If that’s the case, take the parallel street that’s toward the harbor, Skipagata, instead, and walk to the hotel. There’s parking on Skipagata including a large parking lot, and it’s only a 3-minute walk to the hotel. 2. The email also said you check in with someone at the bar, but in fact the keys were being held at the Apotek Guesthouse next door. I got my key there, then went back to the Centrum and walked with my suitcase through the bar/restaurant.

This hotel is located in central Akureyri so we were able to park our rental car and walk everywhere, which I like. There is a bar/restaurant on street level and, for the most part, we heard none of it beyond murmured conversation. We stayed for 2 nights so that we could drive to Husavik for whale watching. Being only an hour away it was convenient. There are a ton of different restaurants to check out in this city so I would recommend walking the streets. Also, free washer/dryer on the 2nd floor - just bring detergent.

No TV, 4 channels of Icelandic radio, I think. I like to watch local news when I travel to get a sense of the city/country I am visiting as well as to see how the US is portrayed in their news media. I wasn't able to do this here.

We spent the night here. Luckily we arrived while the attached bar/restaurant staff were still there. They don't have a 24 hour reception, so if you arrive the bar is closed you can't get your room key. You need that key to get in off the street. The hotel is very tricky to find using Google maps. It's on an inner business street with limited vehicle access. Not the most attractive neighborhood. But the inner hotel was clean and our room was clean. Breakfast was included at their attached restaurant and was very good. We felt it was overpriced for the location and lack of staff to assist.

No reception staff to check-in. You have to go into the bar next door and check in at the bar. So if the bar is closed later at night, you're out of luck. There isn't anyone there to contact if you have any questions. They give a phone, but good luck No parking for the hotel in a very crowded older neighborhood/business area that seemed run down. You have to park in a paid public parking lot. but after 6 pm it's free. You must carry all you stuff a bit of a walk to the entrance. If you want to park after 10am in the parking the next morning, you have to pay.

By chance, we were assigned to a big room at check-in, which was very convenient. The room was bright, with modern furniture and clean. Since this is a hotel located in the city center, do not expect great views.

For the size of the room, there could have been more opportunities to hang clothes. It was not clear to me if breakfast is available till arrival, luckily the restaurant/bar on the ground floor offers a decent breakfast for a typical price (2900 ISK per person in 09/2023). I would have preferred this as an option when booking.

The room was a good size, and it worked out well for a family of four. The extra bed was a sofa bed, which wasn't the most comfortable but was very convenient. The bathroom and kitchenette were clean. The location is great, right downtown and close to the harbor, restaurants, and shops. I was a little worried about the front desk also being the bar to the restaurant, but it worked out well and the employees were helpful. We were there on a Monday night, so there wasn't much noise but there was food smell from the restaurant/bar on the first floor, which other reviewers mentioned.

The location is great, right in the centre and parking across the road. Friendly staff and smooth check in. Room was comfortable and dinner in the restaurant was very good.

Breakfast was extremely chaotic. Not enough staff and the 2 girls on duty were rushed off their feet and could not keep up with demand. That meant that everything was delayed and few breakfast items were available. It was ok for us as we were not on a schedule but it could have been annoying if you had to stick to a stricter time table.

The room was really nice! Very walkable to many places around town as well.

The check in process was a little strange, we had to wait several minutes for people waiting for the bar/dining room to be seated. The street in front of the hotel was closed the day we got there, so it was also confusing to get there since we couldn't turn down the street in the directions given. Also, the kitchen closed a little early for us but the recommendation from a staff member for other dining options were excellent.

Excellent location, within walking distance to most of downtown Akureyri. The room was also spacious, clean and comfortable. We were initially worried that it would be noisy at night with the restaurant in the ground floor, but the restaurant doesn’t stay open too late so it was quiet by the time people go to sleep.

We were initially a bit confused on checking in - the ground floor is a restaurant, quite busy when we arrived so it was difficult to ask for instructions. But we managed to figure out the digital key instructions eventually. Minor suggestion - would be nice to have a kettle in the room (vs in the shared area)

Very specious and clean room. Lot of utensils and there is even small kitchen in the hall so you can prepare yourself cup of tea or coffee. There is a fridge too so you can have your beer perfectly chilled. Super fast WiFi!

TV! So we had huge, probably 60" TV, which didn't have any TV channel. We tried to hook up our netflix and Apple TV but no luck. Really annoying since TV has option for this but apparently hotel management decided not to allow guests to use it.

We stayed there in March and had a Studio with balkony. Very clean and modern room. Very quiet. Enough space if you travel with children. Kitchen is well equipped. On Weekends you can park for free right in front of the hotel. A lot of bars and restaurants are in walking distance.

Bathroom has no separate heating and is quite cold in winter times. At our time of travel there was no working elevator - we stayed at the 4th floor. Both things were no big deal for us, for others it may be.
