We had an excellent stay at the Vintage apartments. I'm going to share some info that I wish I'd known before we went! The hotel has a perfect location in downtown Reykjavik. Everything is expensive here, but you will be on one of the main streets lined with restaurants. There is a great Italian directly opposite, but be prepared to pay - we had three pizzas, a garlic bread and three drinks which was over £165 (March 2023). There's also a bakery for croissants, bread and cakes. So if you are on a budget, make use of the kitchenette in your apartment. There are a few supermarkets nearby. You do not need to bring anything else - it has an oven with microwave, a hob, dishwasher, and fridge with ice box. There is a Nespresso coffee machine with coffee pods provided free of charge (decaf also available). They also provide dishwasher tablets, washing-up liquid, tea towel, olive oil, sugar, salt and pepper. So don't worry about bringing anything - just tea bags if you need them. All utensils are there, corkscrew etc - but there are no baking trays. So bring foil or something if you plan on cooking in the oven. The tap water is actually spring water so drinkable and soft and lovely! The bathroom has a hot rainfall shower that you won't want to leave! Again, everything is included - hand wash, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, lots of towels and toilet rolls. So bring your toothbrush, toothpaste and other toiletries, but no need to bring the others because it's included. They will service the room for you every day if you want, give new towels, but only before 11am. If you are booking excursions, ask to be picked up at Bus Stop 14, which is a five-minute walk round the corner. This is how they work - a small bus will pick you up at the bus stop, then take you to a central bus station where you join a bigger coach for the tour. On your last day, you can store your luggage free at the hotel, go down to floor -2.

The hotel could not be more centrally located. We stayed in a top-floor studio with 2 king beds and a full kitchen overlooking the main street. The room was spacious, and the kitchen was fully stocked with utensils. We parked a five-minute walk in the Traðarkot - Parking House. Access is via a key code for both the entrance and room, which worked well.

Everything you need in the heart of heart of Reykjavik. I don't know how more central it could get. And central means you are close to everything, including touring pick up points and public transport. Church, Harpa, embankment - all 5-7 min away. Our apartment was on the 1st floor, facing street. It's the central street, therefore you can hear loud pedestrians. Earplugs solve the issue. It's a modern well equipped studio, with mini-kitchenette which is useful when you depart early morning to excursions. There is coffee machine, kettle, microwave, hob, dishwasher, dishes. Bed was big (european big) and comfy, nice pillows. Warm blankets but during summer it is very warm inside, you can sleep without blanket at all. Two little wardrobes which is mega plus for the size of the room. Bathroom was clean and practical, good pressure in shower. Everything is simple but cute, at least we liked it. Check in and check out is self-service - you are just given code. We love it! No need to queue on reception! We interacted with hotel only via messages. They are very responsive. Anyways, i give this full 10 points on all aspects. Perfect for singles and couples. Comfy, warm, clean, central, simple, well-done. This is how it has to be done!

The communication was fantastic. The staff was super responsive anytime we messaged via booking. The apartment is a charm, very clean, very well stocked with everything you may need in a kitchen and the location couldn't be perfect. It is right downtown. I saw many ppl complaining about the noise but, honestly, I don't think there is a way to avoid the noise in that location. All buildings are not tall and it's a lively district, there will be ppl partying just outside of your window. It wasn't really bad (and I went with a child) and we all slept just fine. If you are coming during summer, bring a sleeping mask! There are blackout curtains but there is no way to cover the midnight sun completely. Also, the apartment was super clean. They are doing renovations at the front desk area and they let us know ahead of time. There is also a lot of parking in the side streets.

The location was perfect for my husband and me. We were short walk to Bus Stop 14 and we were able to walk down to the water to see the northern lights. The location was perfect, we had so many restaurant options close by. The hotel was clean and quiet, we loved the style the of our room. We plan on visiting Iceland again in the future and we plan on booking a room with the Vintage Hotel.

There was some street noise, but it wasn't anything too terrible. We were still able to sleep just fine at night, but some may have an issue with a room facing the street.

The room was great, but it was not the room pictured above. We really enjoyed our stay and liked the space we had. the balcony was awesome and we hung out on it often. The downtown location was perfect for us and to get to all the bus stops for our tours. bus stop 6 and 14 were our big ones.

At some point there was a ton of door slamming happening in the building which made it hard to sleep. At night other customers were letting all of their doors slam shut. At one point in the morning around 7 am there were a series of door slams that we so close together it sounded like someone was doing it on purpose. We know the property cannot do much to control it but it really did interrupt the time we spent there.

Staff were fantastic. Cleaners were huge help (only staff on site) and other staff we interacted with were prompt and helpful. Kitchen was stocked with basics, mini fridge with freezer, two burner range, hot water kettle, and though we didn't use them, an oven, coffee maker with pods, and dish washer built in; enough to do the simple cooking we needed.

We stayed in one of the deluxe studios. The space was utilized very well, good design. I wish (too late now!) that the rooms had just another half meter between the bed and the work desk (great desk by the way, usually they are tiny things; this one is long though narrow). A few more hooks in the bathroom would be helpful as would a retractable clothes line in the shower (great shower by the way).

Great apartment style booking. I would recommend this for someone who doesn't need a traditional hotel. There is no "lobby" with someone working a desk, but a more self serve design. It was easy to access and in a great location. Some people complain about the noise from the street, but I booked this for the location and I would book it again without a doubt. If you want to be in the middle of the best areas, this is it.

The downstairs "lobby" had a self serve wine setup, which didn't seem to be working. Not a big deal since there were plenty of amazing bars just a few steps away.

I would say that their biggest strengths are: - quality and promptness of communications. they’ve always been responsive and understanding of my questions or requests - the location could not be more centrally located. It’s close to a bust stop for tours. - the room is clean, fully stocked for what I needed, comfortable bed, -love the shower!!! The heated towel warmer and the dual shower heads make me sad to go home to my lacking shower. - I like the modern/ masculine decor to the room. - easy access in and out - baggage storage was ( and will be) very helpful with odd flight times

the outside key pad was a little tricky. it doesn’t register your touch the first time you go to enter the code. I always had to type it in twice to enter.

The location was wonderful. Laugavegur is right in the middle of Reykjavik downtown, and #41 is right about where the pedestrian-only area begins. It was easy to get dropped off and picked up from cabs. The keycode entry makes it easy to get in, store luggage, and not fumble with keys while you have luggage/are coming back from a night out. The building is sleek, clean, and the room was recently updated. It's a small efficient space that has everything you could ever need with a very comfortable bed.

It was a little loud at night with the window open for air in the summer, but nothing we couldn't handle with earplugs or closing the window. It may not be an issue with rooms facing the back, we were facing right out into the street and it was a weekend. Pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.
