Family run hotel

Restaurant booking despite booking we were kept waiting over half an hour for our table which we had pre booked. We were directed to wait In reception but there were no chairs available. As residents I felt we should have been treated better.

The entrance was beautiful and soon as I got to the reception the staff were very welcoming. The pool was lovely and the staff there explained that we could get towels from them instead of using the ones from the room. The breakfast was very nice and very quick to come out. My wife asked for pancakes and syrup only but she got bacon with it which wasn't ideal as she is vegetarian. But didn't ruin the lovely tasting breakfast. Overall staff was lovely and helpful

Never was given the WiFi password. There was no mini fridge in the room which was kinda annoying as would of liked to have cold bottles of water

It is a very nice hotel. The room for 2 adults and 2 kids was quite spacious. Breakfast was very good and made to order. The staff in the restaurant and the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool, sauna and steamroom made our stay even better. Overall a great experience and we'll very likely be back.

There was a bit of a problem with tightening of the bathroom tap but we let the staff know and they said they'll get it fixed. There was no lift to our room (not sure if there were rooms with lift access in the rest of the hotel) which was not a problem for us but might be an important piece of information for someone else.

Went with reviews when booked this hotel. But I can honestly say it far exceeded expectations. Yes facilities decor rooms sleep quality was great but to be honest what made this stay so exceptional was the staff. In all my years I have never come across staff that seem to be so happy and welcoming even when dealing with residents they all seem so happy and cheerful either with each other. Everyone from the check in, bar staff, restaurant staff cleaning staff were so welcoming and pleasant everything was great. Even when speaking with other residents during her stay they all agreed the staff were what makes this hotel go from good to excellent and great. A special shout out has to be to our waiter John. A character and great memory for allergies, likes etc. Met one couple who have come back three years in a row to the hotel and even there only a few days at a time, John remembered there name. But every staff member was lovely and very efficient. Even at breakfast the staff was superb. Food was exceptional. It is cooked fresh so does take a little time but even with the restaurant at full capacity it was an acceptable wait. What was also good was to see management step in to help out with clearing the table to ensure everything was kept going smoothly. We will definitely be back and would be more than happy to recommend this hotel

We were welcomed so nice. They told us there was no lift but they could call someone to help us with our luggage. The hotel looks very nice and clean. Ours was big enough and clean too. We enjoyed our dinner downstairs at the restaurant/bar. The food was very tasty and the portions were big enough. You can join the swimming pool and spa during your stay. It's nice and clean. There is free parking. Breakfast was so delicious, you can choose what you like and it will be cooked freshly for you plus you can serve yourself from the small buffet too.

We didn't find anything we didn't like, we just were a bit surprised when we were told we had to buy swimming hats to use the swimming pool. The cheapest is €3 or you have more options for more expensive.

Beautiful Hotel, staff was very friendly and very helpful, couldn't do enough for you. Nice to see management engaging with the guests in the restaurant and breakfast. Received a courtesy phonecall 2 days before we was due to check in asking would we like to reserve a table for dinner on our day of arrival as the restaurant gets very busy, I thought that was a lovely gesture. Beds very comfortable, best pillows ever. Approx 14 miles from the ferry terminal which we use regularly and family travelling to the UK, definitely recommend Whitford House Hotel for a luxurious stop over for the ferry commuting.

Lovely and clean, a fabulous welcome. The staff did everything they could for us. We arrived at the restaurant a little late and they kept the kitchen open for us!!!! It saved us having to get a taxi into town. The staff were exceptional. Dinner was lovely too. Decent portions

When I was paying for dinner, there was no option to tip the staff using tap on my phone, I had no cash on me and I only ever use my phone, the staff deserved a tip. Only 2 things that I feel could use improvement……. The pancakes in the morning…..would be better if they were made with butter milk cuz they are a bit dry……also proper maple syrup too would be better.

Breakfast was fabulous - loads of choice and always met with a smile & chat from the waiting staff - no complaints whatsoever. Dinner was also brilliant - lots of choice and again, the staff were always happy, chatty and couldn't do enough for us. The bar area (also the restaurant) was great and the bar staff also couldn't do enough for us - absolutely brilliant.

The shower in the bedroom didn't have a particularly strong water flow nor was it moveable but apart from that it was no problem at all. Because the restaurant area is so popular (for good reason!) there's not always somewhere to sit and drink BUT the area by reception is well served and again the bar staff were very accommodating and helpful.

The hotel is absolutely fabulous!!! We stayed for 3 nights and did not want to leave. The rooms are lovely, the staff is extremely nice and helpful, both breakfast and evening food was amazing and their swimming pool is just fab. There absolutely nothing needs improving, I would give this hotel 11 out of 10 if I could. I just can't wait to stay there again! We enjoyed our stay so much that we got a Whitford Hotel voucher for a family member as a gift.

🥰From the moment we got to reception and were greater by the lovely Val who could not have been more helpful or welcoming. The staff really made our stay they were the most friendly ,happy people who loved to have the craic and banter . John Rowe and Steph who looked after us both nights for food we re absolutely fantastic and couldn't have done more for us they really went above and beyond and really made our experience most enjoyable. The owners and management should really be proud of the service their staff provide .while the place was extremely busy for food both days the staff kept a relaxed atmosphere and gave attention to each member at the table . We also had the great pleasure of hearing the lovely John from Newcastle sing Happy birthday to a table close by that man sure can sing ❤️. On Sunday night we also had the pleasure of a young member of the bar staff I think his name was Adam sing country roads in the bar , wooow just wooow could that boy sing . He would fill the bar if he sang and provided entertainment on a regular basis we would deffo travel for it . These staff deserve the world they are providing outstanding service . We have stayed in quiet a few places this year and by far the staff here out shine the rest . This hotel is an absolute gem to both staff and owners . The standard here is remarkable, spotless clean , food , comfort , staff , parking , location it was an absolute pleasure to stay here and we hope to return before Christmas. ❤️. Rooms and bathrooms are a good size , very comfortable and spotlessly clean .

To be honest you would find it hard now to find anything you didn't like here . One very very very small tiny thing of irrelevance maybe would be larger fluffy hotel towels in leisure centre but there was also nothing wrong with towels provided there . While standard room had Air-conditioning the superior room didn't but we had no problem getting a fan sent to the room .
