This facility was conveniently located right by touristy stores, eateries, and the train station. The attention to detail with the food (dinner and breakfast) was impressive and the baths were clean. We arrived at around 5pm, checked in (staff there speaks English), informed Yuki-san (person in charge of our room and meals) the preferred times of our meals and headed out to explore the neighborhood. Given the times for the baths and meals, the experience is really about enjoying the meals provided and relaxing in the baths and the room because there's nothing else to do. Suggested breakfast time was 7:30-8am, which allowed an extra quick soak in the morning before the 11am checkout time (grateful for this).

We noticed a cobweb at the doorway of our room but it wasn't a big deal though.

Our room was beautiful, large, and cozy! Loved the amenities in room & our private hot spring tub. Beds were phenomenal. Hotel was very convenient to get to from the train station (3 min walk).

Breakfast was a bunch of mystery fish and there was no variety of other items - I wasn't able to eat anything at all. This ryokan is very expensive (I paid $356USD for 1 night) and I would have expected more/better food for the price. Also, the guests (families) above and around us were very loud (screaming children) until midnight which ruined the calm ambience while we used our bath outside. Also, all of the restaurants nearby closed very early (5pm) so we ended up getting dinner at 7/11 to eat in our room. This isn't a reflection of the hotel moreso the area.

The loaction is extremely near the train station. The staff is nice and helpful and the reception can communicate with English fluently. The dinner and breakfast are delicious and well served.

We booked a private hot spring room and the scenery is excellent outside the bathroom. However, the hot spring is a "weak" one and it just feel like normal hot water. If you have tried some hot spring with different color in Japan before, you should know what I mean. Personally, I have tried a blue color hot spring in Yufuin and the water make your skin smooth like silk. This is the only disadv. of this hotel and it acted almost perfect in other aspects.

We booked the Japanese style room with breakfast and dinner and had a great experience. Staff very attentive with meal preparation/service and bed set up and takedown. Multiple onsens to enjoy and though we did not book the private ones, there was almost no one there when we went to the public ones. Great location by the Hakone Yumoto station as well.

Would have appreciated a picture description of the different dishes we were eating, wasn’t sure what a lot of things were even though there was a menu written. Other than that, nothing!

All of the staff were very polite, bringing things we needed before we even asked. The woman assigned to our room didn't have the greatest English, and we had virtually no Japanese knowledge, but she did have Google translate ready to go to make sure we could understand each other, which was very helpful. The private onsen we booked was sublime, the views in the area beautiful, the proximity to the train station made it easy to get to, and the overall experience was entirely worth it.

Nothing problematic with the place itself, the only warning I would give is that almost every dinner place in the area closed around 7pm and the 3 that weren't closed were too busy to busy to get into without an incredibly long wait. That was on a weekday, perhaps things are different on a weekend, but it would have been nice to have somewhere to go in the evening for a snack and drink.

We booked the room with the private onsen which I would definitely recommend (although I would be careful about taking one at 8pm at night in colder weather as you may catch a cold like I did). The traditional japanese rooms with the tatami mats were great for rolling/lying around during the day and after dinner they will help you set up your futons. If you get the traditional japanese meals (which we did) it is served just across from where you stay and at set times. It is a great experience with lots of small unique dishes (I was really full at the end of each meal) but note that a lot of it will be cold/raw food with some soups and hot food in between and may not be for everyone. The staff were also super friendly and helpful with everything including sorting out Ta Q Bin for sending luggage to the next destination!

Excellent location, clean facility and amazing rooms. We booked a room with private onsen on the balcony which we used it every night. We stayed for 3 nights and took breakfast and dinner. We had the meals on a private room served by our own butler. However despite the meal being delicious, breakfast was japanese style( miso soup, fish and rice ) not our style actually. Dinner we found it to be again delicious, but too much for us. If you want to experience this you should book it. Overall an amazing value but that came with the price.

People serving food did not speak English and could not explain properly how to eat their food( order and combination)

We were a family of 4 staying at this ryokan. We loved the traditional room with tatami mat. The location was very convenient and very close to the main train station. However, it was right in the middle of everything. If you're looking for a more remote stay, this is not the place. The public onsen was very nice, clean. There was only 1 other person there when I went. The open air onsen is wonderful. Due to jet lag, my husband ended up using the open air onsen in the middle of the night and in the rain, and he said it was "magical"! I booked a room with a private onsen because I did not know how my teen boys would be with being naked in the public onsen. Surprisingly, they were fine with it and we barely used the private one. Our room attendant was very nice, but she did not speak English. She used google translate for simple communication, which was fine with us. We had the kaiseki dinner and breakfast which were both very interesting and we all enjoyed this culinary adventure. Everything was delicious. Because our attendant did not speak English, there was little to no explanations on what everything was, which we didn't mind - it kind of added to the mystery and made it seem more authentic. She did give instructions (through hand gestures) on how to eat certain dishes. All of this was fine with us, but probably not good for the picky eater (none of us are)

The room was a little old and had a bit of a weird smell, but otherwise very clean. Also, the room was VERY small for 4 people. Once they laid out our beds, there was almost no room left for suitcases (and we travelled very light) We were glad to only be there for 1 night because of this. Another piece of information that may be helpful, but is NOT really a negative to this ryokan ... our plans for the day in Hakone were hampered by high winds (Pirate cruise and ropeway were not running). Due to the weather and being tired from jetlag, we ended up cutting our day short and hanging out at the ryokan. This was not ideal because the room was very small and the beds are not laid out until after dinner.

The staff was helpful and also responsive to queries. I had the open-air Onsen in my room and that was really really good if you are shy to go to the public one upstairs . Even my kids came over to enjoy it. My kids had a triple sharing room and it was spacious The public bath was very good. The breakfast and dinner served in the room was plentiful and sumptuous

The lady serving us was very polite and friendly but she did not explain to us what were the various dishes that were being served. While the location is good, next to Hakone-Yumoto station, it is a ghost time with nothing open after 8 except for a Lawson which is about 10 mins walk away .
