We were looking for a ryokan that offered private onsen in our rooms, and found the perfect one. Facilities, staff, and Kaiseki meals for dinner and breakfast were wonderful. They have a rooftop deck with a nice relaxing view, and private onsen are available for rent for a larger group. Overall, a great experience!
Location is a bit far from the restaurants and shops of Hakone Yumoto, so one either needs to talk a long walk up/down steep streets, or have a car, or take a shuttle ride. This is obviously not the fault of the ryokan, who try to make things more convenient by offering a free shuttle bus. But something to be aware of when making a booking.

The private onsen was our favorite, the size was spacious for a couple (husband is 6’1) and you can control the temperature. Staff was very friendly. The meals were unique and tasted fresh. The shuttle to and from Aura was very convenient.
Both futon pads were visibly stained, and one of them had a blood stain. I’m surprised they circulate that in their inventory. We paid to reserve the rooftop onsen and the water was way too hot. Likely unsafe for someone to soak in there for 45 mins. The temperature can’t be controlled like the private onsen in the room so we left shortly. Fortunately we had the private open air onsen in our room that we used instead.

Booked a luxury room for 2 adults with breakfast and dinner included. Breakfast both days were amazing. Lots of small Japanese dishes that were absolutely delicious. Served with hot tea or coffee as well. The kaiseki dinner was amazing as well. We enjoyed the first night's dinner much more than the second night. According to my boyfriend, the steak was out of this world and tender. He was hoping to have it again on the second night, but other wise the dinner was always good. The service at Aura Tachibana however it the star. They really cater to the guest needs and my boyfriend had a good allergy, so for his meals they were able to accommodate him. As far as the service goes, the front desk agents help you carry your luggage in and out of the hotel. As far as transport to the main station goes, they have a designed Aura Tachibana shuttle that you can catch when you check in and check out. This made the trip a lot easier since the hotel and the train is about a 15 minute walk but up and down hills. During the breakfast and dinner service, our servers were always great. We had a luxury room on the 9th floor and the views and private onsen was a 10/10.
Hate to state the cons because we loved a lot of things about this modern ryokan but the beds were a little too firm for our liking. We ending up using the blankets as a 'cushion' and grabbed the extra blankets in the closet to keep us warm. Also, the AC was hard to manuever since google translate had some odd translations for the buttons. AC was a little too warm for our taste and when we did finally figure out how to adjust it to be a little colder, the AC would kind of go into a 'econ' or green mode and shut off and than shut back on with a clicking noise to follow. If you ear plugs, its no biggy but if you don't it can be kind of annoying.

I stayed at Aura Tachibana in Hakone for an overnight stay with my wife, and we had a wonderful time. The hotel is located on a hilltop, offering a stunning view of the mountains and the town. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a balcony and a private open-air bath. The bath was filled with natural hot spring water, which was soothing and relaxing. We enjoyed soaking in the bath while watching the sunset. The food was also amazing. The hotels Japanese restaurant offered a kaiseki multi-course meal with local and seasonal dishes. They were very accommodating to my wife's dietary preferences, and prepared vegetarian dishes for her, our hostess also spoke great English. The dishes were beautifully presented and delicious, using fresh ingredients. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and they spoke good English. They provided a free shuttle service to and from Hakone Yumoto Station, which was convenient. We had a memorable stay at Aura Tachibana, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and luxurious getaway in Hakone. It was worth every dollar, and we would love to come back again.
Nothing. Perfect overnight stay, wish we had longer.

Location in very nice spot. The bus delivers you from the train station - can just call from the tourist information center. The view was really nice - the room was on the 7th floor and it was both modern and traditional. The restaurant and meals were fantastic - with multiple courses in old traditional Japanese way. Onsen in room was big and really cozy which was positively surprising. The rooms are traditional but have also normal beds apart from futons in wardrobe. Additionally there are kimonos prepared for the guests and wearing them while eating the Japanese meals make it way more satisfying.

Amazing rooftop private onsen you can book for 1 hour with a view over the mountains - highly recommend you book this for only 3300 yen. Private onsen in our room was also incredible. Staff were very kind and friendly. The dinner and breakfast were professionally presented and included many courses, which were very generous, however I found I was too full to eat all the courses. The food was to a high standard. The staff provided a shuttle bus on check out back to the station, which was lovely.
If you are from a foreign country, you may not be accustomed to some of the food provided as part of the dinner and breakfast meals, many of which are seafood. This is not a criticism of the hotel restaurant at all, more of something to be aware of.. It's great to have an open mind and try as much of the food courses as you can, then decide if they are to your palate. One other thing to note is that the location is about a 15 minute walk slight uphill or 3 ninute bus from Hakone-Yamoto station. Mattress and pillow were a bit hard, but are traditional ryokan style.

This ryokan is so elegant and inviting. Our room was amazing with an incredible view. The private onsen in our room was so relaxing and just delightful. One of the nicest hotel showers ever! The kaiseki dinner was beautiful, and even though Japanese breakfast isn't to my taste, the presentation itself was lovely. It was such a great one night splurge, so relaxing and rejuvenating. The shuttle service was great and made travel to and from Hakone-Yumoto a breeze.

The property had a bit of old school charm. The service was impeccable. The staff were so friendly and accomodating from start to finish, in every interaction. Our room had the most amazing view of the hills and greenery and our own onsen which was truly a lovely experience. The property is located up a few steep hills, although only a 10min walk. The provide a shuttle bus in the morning, every 30mins to take you down which is super efficient for daily activities or when checking out. Dinner and Breakfast were included. Traditional Japanese style. The food is as fresh, beautifully presented and delicious. The price for a hotel in that area, at that time with those facilities was fairly reasonable.

The food was excellent. A really good chance to try a variety of Japanese food. Japanese rooms were a great experience. The futon beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed wearing the yukata Japanese robes. The hotel was very clean, staff very helpful and the onsen baths were amazing.
No vegetarian options but the staff were good at pointing out which dishes were vegetarian and therefore there was plenty to eat for vegetarians.

Spectacular service from every staff member. The rooms with the private balcony, bath and view were great. Soaking in the private bath and relaxing on the balcony was the highlight of my stay. Dinner and breakfast were quite an experience we will never forget.
We walked from the train station. The distance was not bad but we did not anticipate the narrow streets and steep hills. It was okay without luggage. I would get a taxi if you have luggage.
