Surprisingly, this hotel was more than we'd expected it to be. The rooms are very spaceious, it's in a cute street where (I think) Japanese people live as well. It's around a 20 to 25 minutes walk to the city centre which is fine or you we're also able to take the subway which was a 3 minutes walk. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was very clean and had a bath tub which we love! We used it many times after a long day of walking. We didn't hear any noise from other residents or from the area. It was very quiet. We also felt very safe since you get a code upon checking in for both the front door and the door to our room.

I wish we were able to chill in the main area which now only provides two seating spots. I think it would be great if they'd create a lounge area where you can eat your dinner or meet other people. Also, we didn't see man of the personnel. It would make me more comfortable seeing them more or at the front desk. I know this is the entire purpose of the hotel but its makes it bit more personal :)

Spacious room for japanese standard. The hotel and the room are clean. Simple but efficient check-in and check-out with a machine. Location is good: * less than 5 min from Gojo subway station * only 20 min by walk for Kyoto main station * 15 min by walk to Nishiki market * rental bicycle nearby * Ministop konbini at 50m (I don't really like Ministop but it's ok)

Check-in with a machine ok if you got your reservation number that I didn't know where to find it in my reservation with booking.com ... needed the staff to find it. Baggage storage: open service to every one, you must lock your luggage with a locker as a bicycle. The drawback is that anyone can access to your luggage. Not so safe solution. Of course in Japan it is safe ... but in Kyoto, there are many foreign tourists.

Great location, super close from the subway station and all sorts of attractions were nearby/within walking distance. As well, it was located in a fairly quiet street, so I was able to sleep quite well. Although it was very minimalistic with barely any staff, everthing seemed to run smoothly. Finally, the facilities were great and there were even some mangas and games for enterntainment.

The walls were a bit thin, so we needed to be very careful with noise, and were able to hear others. The shower curtains were a bit flimsy, so there was a bit of leakage. I would love to have a window in the room.

Check-in was very convenient being automated, and you could order new towels through the QR code link. There's also a rack with bike locks in reception for securing your suitcase if you arrive early or want to stay after checkout without having to lug it around the city. There's also 2 washer/dryers (coin-operated) and 1 microwave on the ground floor. Nice and quiet, clean, easy walk to a bus stop, and very spacious rooms (compared to what you usually find in Japan).

In hindsight we would have went for something closer to the centre of town or closer to a train station. Rooms also seem to have a very small allocation of hot water.

Very Clean. But no staff because everything like check in/out and front door access was automated. Had I known that, i would have chosen to stay at a hotel with a front desk staff. For example, to get a taxi, had to walk to a main street and flag one down. With no staff, no luggage room. With no staff, no one to ask questions like where's a pharmacy or how do I get to Ryoanji or Teramachi or where to go to get breakfast? With no services, I thought the hotel rate was a little high.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a hotel in Kyoto and was impressed by the experience. The hotel reception was unmanned, and check-in was done through a tablet where a pin code was generated to access the room. Although there were no breakfast services or additional amenities, the room was stylishly designed and offered everything I needed. I did appreciate the smoking room and laundry facilities, however, cleaning powder had to be purchased separately. Overall, the lack of services did not detract from my stay, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a minimalist and stylish experience.

A really nice clean hotel that had everything we needed. The location was very handy, close to a subway station, bus stop and restaurants. Comfy bed :-)

It didn't effect us really but you would miss having someone at reception to say hello to when coming and going or to ask a question. Someone came out to help us check in when we arrived but after that we didn't see anyone at the reception desk as it's all automated.

staff was very kind, rooms were comfy, location was very central and convenient. everything is kinda spread out in kyoto so being close to a train station was very helpful.

small issues but duvet was easy to mess up - something that wouldn't happen if the room was cleaned everyday. Also, only two washing machines/ dryers for laundry, which was a problem when the whole building wanted to wash clothes

clean, modern, basic utilitarian hotel. good value for money for what it is. would suit younger traveller.

with no disrespect I would say this is more of a high end hostel type of accommodation. I was hoping that there might be a staffed reception at which I could ask questions about Kyoto sightseeing but most of the functions are automated. this was my error in understanding. hotel is good for younger self-starter traveller. recommended.

This place had the largest rooms in our entire japan trip so it was very comfortable. It was like a 10 min walk from the nearest subway station. Staff had little to no english but they immediately pulled out a translation app which was great!

Unfortunately they don’t do luggage delivery services but there was a yamato on the street right next to it.
