It has perhaps the most perfect location. It was about 15 min walk to the akihabara station or a 10 min walk to the kanda station. Kanda station was amazing to be near as you could easily get to any place in Tokyo there. And there is a direct train to the Ghibli museum station Mitaka as well, which was really easy to get to. The staff were very friendly and the facilities were very nice. It was winter and a bit cold, but the blanket was very warm. You also got a free water bottle and a quite big free locker. Every evening you could come down to the main room and socialize with others, despite me not using that option, it was very nice to see as a good option. The hostel is very good for both solo travelers wanting to socialize and those who don't. And it's nice for solo female travelers as they have a female only floor. They also provide dryers and a lot of other things you can lend. If I go again alone to Tokyo, this will definitely be the place I will book again.
My only complaint would be that the showers water took a while to heat up and I didn't really understand which was warm and which not. But it very much could have been fixed if I just asked the staff, which I didn't do.

The location was perfect. Near a station and a walking distance from Akihabara and Ningyocho area which I realy like. The showers are on the 2nd floor and my bed was on the 4th floor. But I do not mind that, since the showers are very clean and spacious and have everything that you need. I also liked the terace on the rooftop, since I smoke. The common area offers a tv and games and a small kitchen. You can buy (very cheap) some food, drinks or tooth brushes and razors. You also get a free drink. You get one towl for free. The staff is realy nice and helpful and they speak english. There are a lot of recomendations to visit around the area, which is appreciated - like a bar or a public bathhouse. There is a washing machine and you can dry your clothes on the rooftop. The bed was realy comfortable. I haven't been to many hostels in Japan, but this one was realy spacious. At least it felt like that.
I got the uper bed and the AC and the ventilator just didn't reach it. I asked the staff if they can change my bed to the lower one and they did, and I slept like a baby. Your room will automaticly loock everytime the door closes, so do not forget your key card when waking up and going to the bathroom. I had no trouble with that, but some might. No AC in the bathrooms, but there is AC in the shower room.

Great hostel with a social atmosphere. Every day between 7-8PM there is a free drink which creates a good opportunity for meeting people. The room was quiet, with lights out at 9PM for people who like to sleep early. The kitchen at the reception was clean and there was fridge space for storing food and you could buy small snacks and drinks at the reception for cheap. There are two supermarkets and two 7-eleven nearby and metro station is a 7 minute walk away, and a 15 minute walk to Akihabara. Great location, prize and the staff was super friendly and helpful. I will definitely be staying here again next time I go to Tokyo.
The room was very cold for being November, the heating wasn't turned on yet.

Cheap, convenient location with walking distance from JR shinjuku / asakusa lines, and hibiya line. Also you can choose to walk from Akihabara. Staff is friendly, good amenities and there is happy hour between 7 & 8pm every day (free drink). They have an inhouse washer and dryer as well, and a prayer room.
Normal in Tokyo but the regular rooms you have to share 12 beds in 1 room so it may be cramped for some - you may opt for the rooms with more space if you pay more. Also the bathroom cleanliness could be improved slightly.

I booked a bed in the female-only dormitory style floor. Shared a room with 5 other people. Lockers were narrow so everyone had their large luggage out which wasn't an issue personally. I think we all struggled with shuffling through our belongings late at night and early in the morning, while being considerate of our neighbors, but that seems expected. Bathrooms were clean, showers were straightforward. Staff were very kind (thank you Manami!!!), the common area was small but incredibly lively with people who wanted to meet and chat, which was amazing. Met some cool people from around the world during my 4-day stay!! This spot is also an incredibly convenient location next to major train lines. If youre into taking walks, Hostel DEN is 15-20 min from Akihabara, and 20-25 min from Tokyo Station. They provide: Free wi-fi Prayer room Work room Laundry/dryer on-site (an awkward set-up but it's available for a cost) Additional amenities (free of charge or offered for a relatively small fee) Showers include shampoo/conditioner/body wash Elevator

- The room and toilet are very clean. Bed is provided with bedlight and socket. - Close to bus stop if you were from Tokyo Station. - The floor that I stayed is only for female. - I arrived at the hotel around 9pm and luckily the receptionist was still there to help open the key box. - I like the hostel in Japan where all the rooms are using the electronic passcode, unlike the typical physical key. - The wifi is good. - The room is automatically light off at 9pm. I like this as it preventing anyone to turn on the light if they arrived in the middle of the night.
The shower rooms are only at 2F. Wish it can be on the same floor. Considering this is Tokyo, the room space is a bit small to put your luggage. Locker is provided, but I hardly used it.

Really lovely hostel with a nice, social vibe. Beds are comfortable and facilities were always clean. I liked the fact the lights were automatically timed, so they were not switched on when people came in during the night. Plenty of bathroom space, and even though there were only 3 female showers, I never had to wait. Really close to many subway lines but in a super quiet location. The happy hour free beer was a bonus!
Staff were a little unprofessional. I think a lot of them were travellers themselves, so it was hard to tell who was staff and who wasn't. I also asked for an extra pillow, which I never got... They were friendly enough though!

I cannot put in words how much I enjoy staying at Hostel DEN. Got to know the staff and manager last year already and it's been a pleasure to return to a place that is warm and welcoming. Surely, it's not the biggest hostel but that's what I like. A small open kitchen, sitting area with a big flat screen and huge inviting windows, people genuinely nice and open to gaming nights. The beds are comfortable, showers, toilets everything clean and taken care of. The rooftop is accessible and if there is not a BBQ held throughout the year, there surely is something else going on that connects old and new travellers. :)
My stay was too short as usual, but that's something I should have known earlier. Stayed at different hostels within Tokyo, but Hostel DEN is home.

I booked this hostel for my last night in Tokyo and I loved that it was 20 min on foot from Tokyo Station. This is a traditional hostel (not a capsule hotel) and it offers everything you might need for a short-term stay; the beds had curtains for privacy, sockets to charge your electronics, and were very comfy. My personal favorite was the rooftop area which offered a nice view of the neighborhood. There was also a kitchen and a communal space with gaming consoles in the reception area, but I did not take advantage of that as I stayed there for just one night.

Lee from Korea is cool & so is Casio from Brazil. Since I was most interested in learning culture this trip, I enjoyed the new perspective Casio offered me. He is definitely the guy I connected most with, hope to reconnect with him in the future. Tap water is drinkable There is also free sake (Not sure if that is there all the time, or was it left over from the bday party) On their advertisement, there is a free drink around 6 to 7pm. I like that there is a gym near by, a 7 eleven as well as a fast food chain where I have eaten 2 times (breakfast) the past 2 days I was there I stayed 6 nights in tokyo this short trip, and the crowd at Hostel Den was the most social. It is possible they are all young and lonely and the closest activities ate Hella far away. I stayed also at hostels in Shibuya, Shinjuku, one other night at manga hostels n another night at a horrible hostel that felt more like a Thai detention camp near the sky tree. I hated, absolutely hated hosted that are so advanced, and used FaceTime to check the guest's in. So fugging in human. Yuck. Hate it. Again Hoatel Den is one of my fav. Place I stayed at near shibuya and in the prime cemter of Shinjuku is worth it too
The only thing I complain about hostel den is it's location isn't prime enough. But the f It is cheap enough Beggar can't be chooser Right? Ps. I snore loud. If anyone can't sleep well because of me. You can give me a few spanks next time we cross path.
