The hotel has the perfect location - very near Ikebukuro station, surrounded by restaurants, establishments, etc. It was easy to stroll around Ikebukuro. There was a convenience store (NewDays) at the 1F of the hotel and vendo machines at every floor which made it convenient for our midnight snack run. The front desk staff were all welcoming and helpful with us. Another bonus was the hotel was an airport limousine stop so it was hassle-free to and from the airport. The rooms that we had (standard and superior) are comfortable and big enough to open our big luggages (knowing Japan's typical standard). We had some drinks at Ovest to cap of one night and we enjoyed the views from the 25F.

One of our rooms had a problem with the air-conditioning and it became too hot in the room. One staff suggested to just open the window but that was not the long term solution. Anyway, we appreciate that they tried their best to fix it but unfortunately the result was the guests in that room (my parents) had to transfer rooms. Kinda a hassle to pack and transfer rooms then have to unpack again. Also noticed that the bathroom setup can be improved. The bathtub looks a bit old. Anyway, despite these, we still had a great stay at Hotel Metropolitan!

1. Checkin was easy, they were able to keep my luggage safe before checkin and after checkout. 2. The male porter was the best as he was very friendly and even bided us a good flight home and hope to see us again. 3. The rooms were cleaned up very well. 4. Our room had a fantastic view of Mt Fuji.

1. The air purifier in the room , when it was switched on, i noticed the room got dustier and i could see specks of dust or white particles landing on the table, clothes. Even the room mirror became very dusty because of this. 2. The room was a bit of a squeeze for the 3 of us in 3 very comfortable beds.

The location is so convenient. Super close from Ikebukuro Station. Thank you very much for giving me a higher floor room which was so quiet (did not hear any traffic noise). I did book quite a few months in advance for 4 nights which is probably why, none the less, I really appreciated it, thank you.

I did not have breakfast at the hotel because I thought it was a little expensive. Maybe the hotel could look at including "free breakfast" for guests who stay more than 3 or 4 nights consecutively?

"The location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk from the station (west south exit). The check-in and check-out processes ran smoothly, even though there were crowded people around the lobby. The hotel has everything you need: an airport limousine bus, coin-operated laundry machines, an ice-making machine, a convenient store, etc. Although the room is a bit old, it is clean because the housekeepers clean the room every day. I booked the room 6 months in advance, so I got a great price. It is very good value for my money."

"The room is a bit smaller than I expected, but it is Japanese style. It is not bad at all."

The hotel is Iconic, but is starting to show its age. Its a very Grand Hotel and and as soon as you walk in you can see that, Check in was smooth and staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and the view was great, Breakfast is plentiful, your not going to struggle to find something you like. The waiting staff are really polite and friendly, but i would recommend getting to breakfast early as the queue can go back as far as reception. The staff will go out of their way to help you, they are very efficient and very helpful, one of our colleagues fell ill and had to travel back early, the assisted him greatly. The hotel is perfectly situated for many local attractions and amenities, transport links are a very short walk away.

I love staying at this hotel but it is showing age related wear. The bathrooms are small even for a suite and you don't get a lot of space for what you pay for.

The breakfast is very good, variety of food is good. The location is very convenient. The check-in time is very fast.

I used to take airport bus from Narita airport to hotel but now they cancelled. The service applied to Haneda airport only.

Great location close to Ikebukuro station. Outstanding service and staff. The guest service staff went out of his way to find us a reservation at a popular Gyukatsu restaurant which he did successfully after calling several branches. Unfortunately, he had to handle a rude, demanding hotel guest to resolve an issue right after us which he did in a professional manner. I felt bad for him because he looked stressed but kept his composure which I would have had a difficult time doing in a similar situation. Staff very proficient with English so no communication issues or “lost in the translation”.

Rooms clean but showing its age.

Check-in was quick. I received my luggage in less than 10 minutes after I entered my room. For reference, 5-star hotels in Singapore take 15-30 minutes to bring your luggage to your room (except when you book an executive room). That's how fast the staff at Hotel Metropolitan are. For those with a sweet tooth, the bakery at the restaurant sells 'Suica penguin' cakes, macarons & mont blanc. They also have a coin laundry at the ground/1st level. The washing machines are connected online, so it's possible to check the availability from the room. The housekeeping staff cleans a bit too much. Even when I requested to only take out the trash, they still changed the towels & toilet paper. They also keep on giving new indoor slippers/shoes. I ended up having 5 pairs of indoor slippers at one time.

The fabric freshener provided in the room was a bit too strong. My shirt still smelled like the freshener 1 day after I sprayed it.

We stayed here because it was literally steps from the Metropolitan Theatre, a perfect location for us. Nice decor if a bit worn, excellent breakfast selections if somewhat uninspired cuisine. Nice views. Good storage space for such an "efficient" hotel.

Nothing to complain about. Japanese hotels can be cramped, but this one might better be described as snug. The excellent storage space often wholly lacking in Japanese business hotels was cleverly set in a hollow in one wall that made a head bump virtually inevitable with every use.

The hotel is centrally located in Ikebukuro and is walking distance from the main streets. The rooms are clean and decent with good soundproofing, comfortable beds, and all the necessary amenities. There is a coin laundry room on the first floor and its availability could be monitored from the room TV. The airport limousine also stops right outside the hotel so it is convenient to get to and from the airport if used.

Although the Metropolitan Gate is the nearest exit from the Ikebukuro Station to the hotel, it’s entirely stairs and not convenient for people with luggages. Exiting through the West (Metropolitan Theatre) or South gates were easier as there were escalators and elevators.
