The room was small, but that was expected. It had a traditional Japanese apartment feel with the tatami room, and super small bathroom. It took a little effort to figure out the water heater for the shower, but that wasn't a big deal. The listing says you can have 5 people but it would have been tough to lay down a 5th futon. so 4 was most likely. Staff was super nice. Laundry mat directly across the street and 7-eleven around the corner made it very convenient. Train station was a short walk away (about 3 blocks), so very easy to get around. this was perfect for our short trip into Tokyo

I don't think you can fit 5 futons into the space, so that was a little misleading.

The staff were very kind and their English was fantastic. It was the first place we stayed in Japan and made us feel incredibly welcome. The room was well equipped with great AC, fridge, powerful shower with soaps provided, and a balcony area with a nice view of the street. My brother quoted the shower as the best he's ever used. We arrived early at 10:00 due to an early flight, and they looked after our many bags in the lobby all day until 14:00 when they let us check in early.

Very little to complain about. Bit of hair here and there on the tatami mats/futons, but we don't expect laboratory condition sterilisation.

I like the room settings which was giving a traditional Japanese house vibe though the room is quite small to fit four futon beds and we had to move the table during bedtime within our 3N stay. From Kayabacho station, it conveniently took us to Narita Terminal 2 with just one transfer. The property is located in a quiet neighborhood but still close to metro stations, convenience stores and restaurants. Takes approximately 30mins to go to Shibuya/Shinjuku area and a little over an hour to Narita airport. The reception staffs are very friendly.

The water pressure for washing in the toilet is super weak. The beddings are quite old and show some signs of worn out. Also, no slippers inside the room, hence you might need to bring your own.

Fantastic ryokan in the heart of Tokyo. Close to a number of trains and busses it’s super easy to get around, whilst being nestled away in a safe quiet pocket of Tokyo. Each floor only has one room, so you’ve got the whole floor to yourself. They’re big rooms for Tokyo, nicely appointed too, with extremely comfy futons and pillows. We slept great. There are several connivence stores near by, and small super market too.

Personally would have preferred a bath ourselves vs the small shower booth, but that was the only minor trade off for us. Everything else was ideal.

This traditional style ryokan is extremely comfortable, in a quiet street allowing you to rest and you have everything you need within your room a small fridge, microwave, dining area, a small terrace, and a massive closet and very nice en suite bathroom, there is only one room per floor and it is a great place to stay after a busy day in Tokyo, easily reachable by the subway. Very nice place to stay highly recommend if you wish to stay in a traditional room in Japan and the lady at the reception was super friendly and it had everything you need.

Everything was perfect

Kakigara staff were very responsive and constantly checked-in with us via the Booking chat to check on our status. Very pleased with the overall. Jennifer at the service desk was very helpful and polite.

The room's heater was not strong enough. The pillow had a smell to it and the pillowcase needs to be cleaned better. Some of the tatami mats on the floor had straws coming out, was a bit uncomfortable to have straws coming off when walking on them.

The place was close to station. Staff were very friendly. Room was quite spacious without the futon mattress. After placing them there is limited space to move. Like their toilets. Each room is on each dedicated floor.

Room is a little dusty, like there was no one staying for sometime. The place also felt like there was no security. Sound insulation was not good as well, but neighbourhood was quite quiet at night. Bathroom is small

It was near subway station within 5 mins walk and in a very quiet neighborhood. I liked the tatami room a lot as we didn’t want our kids falling from a bed. It was cozy and staffs were very kind and friendly. When we checked in a staff upgraded our room because elevator was not available for the room we booked. It was very thoughtful. I would totally stay again if we go to Tokyo.

I wished that we would have a door stopper for the front door.

The room was much bigger than I expected. A lot of the reviews made it seem like it would be a tiny little room. However, I traveled alone so for me - it was very spacious. There was room to sleep, work at the table, and have my suitcase open. It was very central and easy to get to all of my meetings. It was nice to have a traditional Japanese room in the city center for a reasonable price. I would definitely stay here again. It is not fancy but perfect when you need a clean and reliable place to come rest after meetings and work.

When I arrived, there was no one at the front desk, and I needed to wait 10-15 minutes for someone to get back from a coffee break. It wasn't a big deal, but as there was no note, I was just worried no one would be there to check me in. When I was leaving the elevator was broken but again, no note, so I was waiting 10 minutes for the elevator and there was a huge pile of laundry at the bottom of the staircase so I needed to jump over it with a suitcase to get out... Again, not a big deal, but it was annoying.

staff was nice.

The room was described way bigger than it actually was. Literally too small for 3 adults. Impossible to live in it. staff was polite and nice, hotel was clean. but with the price we paid we expected a little more.
