such a unique place to stay - absolutely beautiful wooden houses with lots of space for families, if you take one of the 2 bedroom options. great bar and excellent wine list at very reasonable prices. Loved the friendly cats! easy location for the airport and you can walk next door to the BonTon which has an excellent restaurant

can be hard to sleep if you are light sleeper/easily disturbed - as the rooms don’t have fully closable windows (there are shutters) not so much the birds/nature which will interrupt sleep but tannoy from the mosque at 6am is pretty loud. bedrooms have decent ac and it does cool down at night but living rooms/bathrooms just have fans so can be very warm during middle day. make sure you have strong mosquito repellent!

the properties have been brought in as examples of the type of traditional housing seen in Malaysia - so we stayed in Penang 1. landscaping is superbly done. the swimming pool is very long and beautiful. the staff are amazing. really friendly. great food served at restaurant - and brilliant cocktails - try the Vietnamese mojito. we never eat at hotel restaurants but did a few times here.

there is - sadly - a new development going on next door. this can feel disruptive. when we arrived we felt that they should have mentioned this, but in truth, as time went on, we did not find it disruptive and I can see why they Don’t need to mention it. location would be testing if you didn’t know how to use Grab app for local taxis.

This is a luxury old house with some modern modifications on fittings and decorations inside, very comfortable if you like the way it is. The staffs are very helpful and attentive. The place is quiet and away from the crowd but still very near to pantai cenang where you can get all the things you needed. There are free bicycles for guests to use.

Netflix is operated on shared accounts, not really functional as the quota are always occupied by others. The big tree in front of Johor house is full of BATs at night and some of us couldn't really sleep as the sound of the BATs "talking" to each other can be quite loud at night and is clearly audible from the room. There is a pool table in the game house but the cue is bent, should change a new one.

Serene environment, quiet and original.The perfect stay to be a bit away from the crowd in a beautiful setting. Staff might seem a bit inexperienced at times but they all are very smiling, welcoming and helpful.

The food is not up to the standart of the hotel. Expensive for very basic options. Breakfast so called “buffet” is extremely disappointing and very basic for this type of hotel. Really the only big disappointment of my stay. No towels ready on the loungers by the pool, you have to get your own from a basket. With more efforts put in the restaurant, it would have been close to perfect.

What a great place to stay! The pool is very dreamy and nice. This resort is where we really could relax and charge up during the holidays. Huge compliment to the staff. Very friendly and helpful, makes you feel at home every time you walk through the front door. Loved that! The rooms are well designed. Very lovely and clean. The houses are relatively old, so it gives some extra to your stay, but it also means that you won’t have a fully insulated room.

The breakfast is good for Malaysian standards, but it’s a buffet and not a la carte that the website indicates a bit.

The location (although initially we thought it was isolated). Being away from busy roads and noise was excellent. We liked the colonial style setting, the surroundings, the swimming pool and its facilities (there are two but we only used one), the lovely eating areas, the food. The staff were lovely and friendly. The room had everything we needed. It is a lovely place to enjoy a peaceful and tranquil stay.

Because it's away from the main centre, it's important to have more than two bikes and in better condition than the only ones available (they were quite rusty and lacking general maintenance). Another couple was enthusiastic about bike riding after our experience but couldn't do it because the bikes were too challenging (due to their condition) for them. We had issues with internet connection due to a short power outage. Don't know how frequent this is but it was inconvenient for checking on flights, etc.

The hospitality by staff. Great food. The uniqueness and history of each building. The tranquillity of the place.

Below the bed, it wasn't swept, so there were heaps of trash and dust. Duty manager's WhatsApp isn't attended to as expected. My final night's request for dinner at around 930pm caused us a bit of an issue, which was solved by the local food delivery. Mosquito net had to be requested after a bad night covered with mosquito bites and being constantly awoken by mosquitoes.

The hotel style and vibes - simply amazing, if that's the vibe you're looking for. The room - charismatic, colonialism-era style, large. Beautiful old-school decor. Service - shout-out to Irene and the team of locals that put together a great squad that was supportive all along. Restaurant/bar - great menu, good combination of local and international drinks, great vibes. Pool - beautiful setting.

A/C and volume - wooden villas/rooms mean A/C won't be as effective as in standard rooms nor will the windows be able to keep noise in as much. But that's the price to pay to stay in such a charismatic place, so we were ok with it. Proximity to the airport - often this can be an issue due to planes going by frequently, but in this case it was not an issue at all. Flights aren't that frequent, and anyway only during day time. They actually add to the mystique of the place if you ask me ;)

It’s a really lovely setting, the houses are beautiful and the gardens and pool are really nice. We liked the history of the house and the local tips provided in the rooms. We loved meeting the cats. Staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Too hot to walk to the ‘main’ road in cenang though it is probably walkable in 15-20 minutes, but Grabs are usually easy to get and very affordable.

The breakfast was pretty limited in terms of options, I don’t think they had eggs put out either day we were there. The food we ordered at the property otherwise was really good, but every time we ordered we were told something we wanted wasn’t available. There was an issue with the WiFi in our room not working, but the staff rebooted it and it was fine from then on.

The staff is super friendly and helpful! The resort is beautiful!

There are quite a lot of ants but i don’t think it’s their fault because the resort is surrounded by nature.
