Shandrani Beachcomber Resort and Spa

Great ressort with 3 wonderful beaches. The free water ski was a great advantage. Extremely clean and wonderful personnel. Never slept in a more comfortable bed. The food in the Thai restaurant was excellent. The hotel white wine is really good. Loved their campaign to protect nature, animals and support the community.

Overall breakfast could be improved, adding some tomatoes and cucumbers. As a person not eating carbohydrates, i was struggling.

We loved that it was only 7 minutes from the airport! Whatsapp: +230 5736 4029 for a taxi. We loved that this resort had 3 beaches. The gym and spa was one of the best for Mauritius resorts we have visited before. Special shout-out to Kavi that cleaned our room and all our belongings were perfectly safe there! Harsh was very helpful in arranging us a plug adaptor. Denis was super at meals and Anatree gave the best massage ever!!!

We were worried about the planes coming over the resort as its so close to the airport. We counted 6-8 planes a day and the noise lasts 4 seconds. So really not a big problem at all.

Starting from the rooms, which were given to us as we had a baby were perfect. Close to dinner place, close to the beach and children's area. The cleaning staff did they work at a very high level. The food was great on all days we stayed. Especially meat and fish. A lot of things to do at the place and free activities all around. Bar staff was superb.

There were kayaks available only from 11:30. Staff was there every day from around 10:00. We would love to go there when it is not so hot. Why is it not available? Strange. Also, for volleyball, you have to go to the sport center everytime. Leave a ball at a bar or a few of them at kayaks. Also strange.

I enjoyed the whole experience. There was really nothing I didn't like. My room was spacious and comfortable and it was kept clean and tidy by the housekeeping staff every day. The main restaurant is a lovely open-air place, and the waiters, chefs and other staff were without exception warm and friendly with a smile ready all the time. The Thai restaurant is excellent. The bar-staff were really hard-working, and they remembered many people's choices of drink from one day to the next. They were kept really busy during the day as well as in the evenings. The gardens are lovely...so much greenery, trees and shrubs. It is so lovely to stroll through the gardens to and from the beach and hearing all the birdsong. I loved my holiday in Mauritius and I loved staying at the Shandrani. I will definitely be going back there again...I hope !

There was really nothing I didn't like. The only thing that was off-putting was a large group of very noisy people who were obviously celebrating something. They were oblivious to other holiday-makers and just acted like hooligans screaming , shouting, swearing in the restaurant, on the beach and in the bar. They were all adults in terms of their ages, but they acted like spoilt little children who wanted to loudly enjoy their time at the hotel ( about 5 days ) at the expense of other people. Apart from that everything else was fantastic.

The resort is big and has a lot of customers but you do not have the feeling that the beaches or the pools are crowded. It has three different beaches, which is really nice depending on what you want to do (quiet bay, open ocean beach with big waves) They have plenty of water activities, all are for free (stand up paddle, water ski, kayaks...) and booking is uncomplicated. You do hear the planes from time to time but it is not really a disturbance. At the first sight you notice that the hotel room needs renovation, but in the end you are mostly outdoor and it is fine.

Restaurant availability was disappointing. We were there four nights and tried to book the restaurants just when we arrived but there were all fully booked. Apparently booking 4 nights in advance is not enough! You may want to try and book them before travelling! The buffet restaurant is ok, but repetitive after a couple of days.

Location is excellent, it's 10 minutes drive to airport, has plenty of sandy beach front, we can walk straight onto beach to snorkel from our back garden. Plenty of free water activities. Although you do hear passing planes from time to time. It didn't bother me, but if it bothers you, this may not be your choice of hotel. Staff are really friendly and ready to help.

We were given a free upgrade on our room and package on our arrival, which was a lovely surprise. Although halfway through our stay, we were told our package should not be upgraded, it was a bit disappointing on the change. Some hot food served in the bar and restaurants are cold. water drips down from the air conditioning in our room. The drain in our toilet starts to smell as day progressing.

Too many people, had a bit of a cruise ship vibe.

We spent a beautiful holidays here. Resort is amazing, food was also very good (there is so many restaurants with different type of cuisine). There is also so many activities to do (boat trip, jet ski, windsurfing…) and some of them are free, which is also nice. There are two quiet beaches without waves in the resort, but they didn't impress us much. But the open ocean beach with big waves was amazing and we spend most of the time there. Staf here is extremely friendly and helpful. I would like to specially thank you to Suraj R., the waiter from the restaurant, because he was the best! There is also fast Wi-Fi in the resort and so many activities for kids. I can totally recommend this resort.

The walls of the room in the house we were staying in were literally made of paper. So we could hear almost anything from the next room, including other guests' conversations, and it was very uncomfortable, especially at night. That was the only downside for me to an otherwise very nice stay.

The location of the resort is absolutely perfect, close to the airport so no time is wasted when arriving into the country and when leaving. The food was magnificent, the 3 beaches as well the water activities were mind-blowing, and the staff are absolutely well mannered, accomodating and devoted to excellent service delivery with passion. A special thank you to Staff members named Harsh, Ved, Akshay, Sanjiv, Enrico, Darshana, the porters, as well as the chefs Vim and Shylen. These people, along with the rest of the staff, have been brilliant from the beginning and continue to ensure that all touchpoints of the hotel are close ti perfection as possible. Cleanliness, facilities, staff friendliness and helpfulness, and food were the highlight of our entire experience.
