The staff were friendly and helpful, the location was excellent, and it had a wonderful, old world charm. It was surprisingly quiet for a central hotel. It was really nice to sit just outside our room in the inner courtyard after a busy day in and around Merida.

The breakfast wasn't the best. The coffee didn't have a lot of flavour either.

We arrived late and the Uber left us on a street where the hotels door were closed, we were knocking and no response at all. I had to call them and they have another door not visible from the street we were. The bed was kind of hard and the steps to go up to the toilet are tall.

Price charged is different from advertised, breakfast is poor and they charge extra for basic stuff such as eggs (and charge absurd amounts), room has no curtains and they woke me up during my vacation to check if I wanted to get my room cleaned

Beautiful spacious interior. Totally unexpected when you look from outside the building. It’s a well renovated older building made into a beautiful boutique hotel. The breakfast was delicious: we had the continental breakfast which was part of the stay and ordered additional hot food for extra charge but totally worth it as it was delicious. Highly recommend. The bed was huge and comfortable and it was very quiet at night which was surprising given the location of the hotel. The staff was super accommodating and polite. Everyone spoke English and totally catered to our every needs.

The washroom is on a top level so those with compromised abilities and can’t walk, I won’t recommend this place, otherwise in all honesty it’s nice to have it secluded upstairs as it gives it a private feeling.

Beautiful old building for this hotel, with an amazing courtyard that at night is covered, and during the day, weather permitting, the ceiling is pulled aside to let the sunlight in, the perfect spot for breakfast, which is excellent. Basic continental breakfast is provided, but pay a little extra for other options, which are delicious. Staff helpful and friendly. The room is on split level, bathroom on a mezzanine above the bedroom level, stairs could be tricky for some people with limited mobility to negotiate. But the configuration did allow good use of the space and the incredibly high ceiling.

Mattress is a bit soft for my liking, and the pool is too small for a swim, but otherwise Viva Merida is an excellent base for exploring Merida.

Nice location- a few minutes walk from the mercado and easy walk to the centre. Great service, nice breakfast with rooms centred around the beautiful central courtyard.

A couple of minor things to note. The bed was really high - so if you’re not very tall it involves practically climbing into it. Also note whilst the bathroom is in the room it’s also up a steep flight of stairs which could be an issue for guest who have frequent nighttime visits to the bathroom.

Beautiful French style mansion. Bathroom upstairs had plenty of room to also be used as a study ( i had to WFH for a couple of days whilst on holiday). Breakfast was continental style. Plus various classic options - mexican style full English - crepes - avocado on toast plus poached eggs - mexican eggs

It is 4 blocks to the main square. Which in July may feel a lot. Didn't bother us - but be aware if mobility is an issue

Loved the location. The homemade pastries in the morning were divine! Loved the open air courtyard. Loved the art in the hotel. Beds were comfy and the room was perfect for us! The AC was quiet. Parking was perfect!! Very quiet room. The service was awesome! Everything was absolutely spotless. Very safe place to stay. Close to all the major attractions. Close to Enrique’s Condimentos! Close to a wonderful cooking class with Sharing Traditions Merida located in the Merida Santiago hotel boutique.

- inner courtyard is very beautiful - the staff was absolutely amazing helping with everything we needed - clean rooms - nice breakfast - great location in the city centre.

- it’s an old house and the rooms are a bit dated, also quite dark as the room faced a busy street and we had to keep the curtains closed - pool area is underwhelming - the bathroom and toilet are inside the room, but upstairs, which can be quite stressful when traveling with a toddler.

Everything was great, we stayed at the only room with terrace and a tub on which we used as a small private pool to cool down in the hot day. Kitchen was well equipped, the AC and wifi worked well. The welcoming stuff was really friendly and there was a purified water machine in the lobby to save on plastic water bottles.

The bathroom door was not really possible to lock, need to keep it in mind when sharing with others. Also there was music in the night coming from the city, but it was doable.
