The room itself was lovely, and was attached to an adorable deck where we had our morning coffees before starting our day. We were able to check in without issues and there was parking available right out front for our rental car. We took advantage of the many, MANY walkable cafes and restaurants in the area and loved how central it was to everything we did while in Auckland!

I truly have nothing bad to say. The only thing I can even think of is that during peak hours, it sometimes became a little more difficult to find parking for our rental car, but it wouldn't be something I would genuinely complain about.

Its a beautiful place, right in the middle of Ponsonby Road with lots of cafés, eateries and shops. Very nice atmosphere and nice common areas: living room, kitchen and veranda. Our room pointing towards the garden was quiet and we could sleep with open windows during the night.

We stayed in room nr. 9, first floor, with a wonderful, private veranda and a very beautiful view towards the city centre with the sky tower. The room is rather small, especially the bathroom and it might be a challenge to get organized here. - Beside the size this is a very nice, special place to stay.

- Sweet little garden cottage of a beautiful traditional house - Spottlessly clean, nice bed, good quality bed linens - Good location in cool Ponsonby - Lots of restaurants and nice shops in the area

A guide book with useful practical information would be useful: - wifi - how to use the cooling unit - how to get a taxi - public transport to the city (if any?) - closest supermarkets - etc. Public transport in Auckland is somewhat complicated to use for a tourist. You need to buy a special card on which you charge money and then you pay with the card in a bus. Places where to buy the card are mostly in down-town. No underground/ metro neither having proper connection from/to the airport using public transport was a surprise in a big city.

This is a two-story townhome-type building with maybe 10 rooms. Ours had a queen bed, a private toilet with shower, and a second sink, as well as a small closet space. The garden outside is very beautiful. There is an accessible full-sized bathroom with shower in the hallway. There is a fully stocked kitchen with plenty of room. The neighborhood has lots of independent shops and places to eat, surrounded by local housing, so not too noisy.

We could not get our a/c unit to work. The owner offered to take a look at it while we headed off to dinner, but we just assumed it would be ready to work when we got back. Should have had her look at it! We were comfortable enough anyway.

Location was excellent, so many great shops, bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel was charming, comfy and clean. Lovely garden and nice clean communal area (kitchen for anyone to use), we didn't need to use it, but was nice to see other travellers hanging out and making friends. Hongying was lovely, really helpful and let us leave our bags while we explored Ponsonby.

Room was fine, very comfortable and clean, but a bit smaller than anticipated (especially the bathroom). The wifi didn't consistently reach us in the 'cottage'.

A nice room although a little small. Has own en-suite and small kitchen area. Great balcony and probably one of the best views of the city and sky Tower you would want. Best feature of the room. Approx. 30 min walk to shops and sea front with an array of bars and restaurants. The only negative is the poor wifi and no off-street parking. You will need to pay for parking on the road.

Good location and charming

There was not a safe in the room. This was very important to me. I had spoken with the site manager when booked. I was going to cancel unless there was a safe in the room. She had advised that the owner was going to be putting a safe in each room and I should feel comfortable and not cancel. No safe. I had to keep my important items in the hotel where friends were staying. This was 100% unacceptable as I felt that I had been lied to.

We liked the location and it was an easy drive from the airport. It's close to a good choice of bars and bistros, all within easy walking distance. The place was immaculately clean, and the gardens are well maintained. The rooms were light, airy and comfortable. We were only stayed for one night before moving on and it served us well.

There's no parking. However, we were able to park right outside. There is a charge, payable at the meter. It's free from about 6pm until 8am.

Lovely facility, great location. I arrived after dark but had received by email instructions to access the building and my room which was great. I enjoyed having options of places to sit and lounge (indoors and outdoors) and particularly appreciated being able to store my luggage after check out and just hang out until it was time to leave for my flight.

More signage/information on site regarding kitchen usage (communal fridge, what food items are available for all to use) would be beneficial. I had put something in the main fridge that was gone the next day. Not sure if someone used it or tossed it. Door closing by other guests was quite loud and noisy late at night/early morning. Signage to remind of this or quieter closing mechanisms. Was somewhat concerned about the front door and gate always being open with the ability for anyone to walk in or out at anytime in the day. I saw staff only once and was never questioned by anyone about being there. Perhaps I'm overly cautious?

Excellent location (Ponsonby Road has amazing places to eat and is justa short walk to the CBD), beautiful old house, amazing view over the city from our room, good shower and a comfy bed.

The only slight negative is the checking in process is a bit confusing due to limited staff on site. There is not somebody at reception all the time - it would almost be better if there was an Air BnB style lock box for check in to make it easier. That said the staff available were super friendly and helpful and got us sorted!
