The facilities were excellent and attention to detail was fantastic eg the bedside lamps had 2 settings so could get low light - most others use white LED’s. Barry at Reception actually greeted us - so often these luxury (loose interpretations) stand alone “Apartments“ and “Villas”,have no one at reception and leave notes etc for entry instructions. One even left us notes to take the garbage bins out to the kerb. I also loved the fact they offered Sky service. Most of the ‘stand alones’ advertise Netflix but that’s only the preloaded app on the TV - you have to use your own account??

You would be very hard pushed to find any better accommodation than The Amross. Barrie and Donna are such a welcoming, friendly and helpful couple...no wonder this place gets rave reviews. Location is perfect for wandering and driving around Dunedin. We stayed 2 nights in room 15 which is fitted out to a high standard and quiet. Plenty TV channel options and soundproof rooms! This is definitely not your average motel and we would definitely stay there again

Absolutely nothing

Very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful hosts. Location is easy if walking to the Octagon or Chinese Gardens (about 25 minutes away on foot, and there's a Countdown nearby), but driving is difficult now due to all the torn up streets. The location is perfect if you're heading out to Larnach Castle, the Albatross Centre, Monarch Wildlife Cruise, and Penguin Place. The rooms are well equipped (they even supply paper towels in the kitchen!), if a bit small for a self-contained unit. Laundry is on-site, which is very helpful for long trips, especially if you like to travel light. The Good Earth Cafe is a great spot for breakfast, and it takes about 90 seconds to walk there.

The greeting from Barry was wonderful and he is a mine of information. The room seem to be much larger than we were expecting. We were really impressed to be offered a bottle of milk on check-in and we had no problem parking the car during our stay.

It got a little warm at times due to lack of aircon and guests should know that the motel is between building sites one of which started work at 7 a.m. this is obviously a temporary situation.

We have stayed in 20 hotels and motels during this trip and the Amross Motel was the stand out best of them all. A huge, spotlessly clean room with well equipped kitchen backed by great service from enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable owners. All at an outstandingly good value price considering the quality of the accommodation on offer. Really highly recommended

Absolutely nothing, it was perfect

The owners went out of their way to have our room available for an early check in so we could get our toddler down for a lunchtime nap . This was no hassle and very much appreciated. The location was great and rooms had all the amenities needed.

The only negative (which the motel couldn’t help but would have been good to know about especially when we booked quite a few months ago) was the construction noise next door which started very early- we were staying a Tuesday night.

The Amross Motel gave us an excellent stay. The room was much larger than we had expected with a separate lounge kitchen are and and a bedroom, giving heaps of room to move around. The quality of the room was very good. Very clean and the bed comfortable. The owner gave us lots of information and a map to make the most of our stay. Only a ten minute walk into the town area and 20 minute to the Octagon area. Quite a lot to do in Dunedin. We should have stayed another night. Lots of places to eat quite close by

We were happy with all aspects of our stay

The owners are amazing, very friendly, and helpful! Cleanliness was on point the location is close walk to the town and amenities as well as a convenient bus stop. The addition of Netflix In the rooms were great too!

During our stay another guest occupied 3 parking spots(including a disabled spot) with a truck and trailer which was annoying as we needed a park.

We arrived late in the day and were met by an exceptionally helpful host and made to feel right at home. We were provided with a wealth of local knowledge and recommendations for places to eat and visit. The rooms were large and well laid out. There was no unnecessary clutter or excessive amounts of cushions. I'd recommend this Motel to anyone and would happily stay here again.

Everything was great about this Motel.

Very, very clean. All people we met involved with the motel were lovely, half of our group were a few minutes late checking out and the staff (owners?) we very understanding and kind about it where the could have easily charged us for late check out. It was good walking distance to a couple of close amenities and then for a slightly longer walk you were in the midst of many food, coffee and retail places. Also was great to be able to set the heather to a comfortable temperature as the outside temp dropped significantly over our stay so having so much control over that was great.
