The room was comfy, I had a separate room so can’t comment on the dorms, although they looked tidy when I walked past. The free breakfast was good, I didn’t have any as I had my own to get through. Also had free look but didn’t have time to make use of that (gutted)

I would say the staff could be a bit more understanding and helpful. There was a bit of a sense of a “school teacher” vibe with them, strict rules with NO alcohol after 8 (I’m 30, I can have a beer after work), no food in the room and didn’t let me back up stairs to the kitchen after checkout (not even for a cup of my own tea!). I think it was due to the guests being more on the younger side, that said you feel private in your own room.

the location very central to most tourist enterprises. The most annoying part of the city was the parking. And for the ON TOP backpackers but you did have parking from6 pm until 9 am. Also little known back entrance/exit that eliminated the use of carrying a heavy suitcase the distance. The kitchen was clean but the fridge could have been a little more "organized" and fresher. great hostel located right in downtown! the location of the hostel is amazing! easy to walk all over town and really close to great restaurants and grocery stores! the facilities were great and very clean! they cleaned thoroughly everyday which made me feel really good about the place! the kitchen was good and had everything you'd need! the beds had little build in side tables with usb ports and reading lamps which i found really helpful!

there were usb ports by every bed but not many outlets in the room which made it hard to charge computers and other devices that didn't have usb ports. the parking situation is not ideal as you have to pay for the parking next to the hostel or you can park about a 10 minute walk away for free if there's space! not a terrible issue but something to keep in mind.

The location was very close to my conference and the room was clean and perfect for me. The showers were hot. Having a bar downstairs was nice because I could have a beer and then walk upstairs to my room.

Boy racers on the street were noisy on Friday night, but there was nothing the backpackers could do about that. I have no other complaints. When you stay in a backpackers, you have to be aware that there are young, enthusiastic people staying there and a boisterous evening of socializing can happen near to your room. Earplugs helped.

The location as it is handy to everything in the city. Comfortable and safe. We can help ourselves at breakfast time. I love how the sun reflects through my room, the seating area and in the common area. Even better with medical centre next door. The entertainment bar area is downstairs with heaps of pool tables and seating area to chill. Thank you so much.

Only had Cornflakes, weetbix and toast with many spread. Would be nice to add porridge for a very cold morning.

In our dorm was a very weird guy. He was a bit psycho and annoying. We went to the reception and told them about him and that we do not feel good with him in the room. They were really understanding and didn’t tolerate that behavior at all. He was gone within the next couple minutes. I am very grateful for these people and how they handled the situation. It made me feel very safe and comfortable. The rooms and the kitchen were clean and the wifi worked great. The location is also amazing.

The beds were very shaky. If someone moved all 4 beds that touched moved which was a little bit annoying. Besides that everything was great.

I stayed Dorm room, the bed has little shelf that was convenient, I put on my phone, book, some my little things on a shelf and small bed lights was there The car park next to the building after 6pm to 9am is free. I parked 4pm paid 2hours then straights parked to next morning Kitchen is clean plenty of pots pans plates mugs etc, complimentary for tea and instant coffee

Access to bathroom, kitchen through the out side, rainy day or cold day bit difficult My fitted sheets has got some yellow stain

I Absolutely Loved the Privacy and Room was just right.. It was quiet.. The Outdoor space was private aswell. Loved the Location so close to town... Staff were very friendly and welcoming xx Thank you I would definitely come again !!!!

Would've been nice in the executive suite to have a jug and toaster and complementary sachets tea/coffee & sugar maybe.. being so far to go for coffee and the weather wasn't the greatest. Even the Small breakfast boxes.. or pre mixed bowls would've been awesome !!

This hostel is central to Dunedin, so you do not have to walk far to the restaurants and bars in the Octagon. The hostel sits over a large bar with a lot of billiard tables. Seems very popular with the locals and college students studying at the nearby University of Otago. The dorm rooms are typical bunk bed layouts with budget twin mattresses. The bathrooms were reasonably clean and a decent kitchen area. They have free breakfast, but it is a pretty minimal offering.

Lack of storage in dorms for high-value items to lock those items. Power outlets are minimal. There were small shelves at every bed with a single USB port. The shelves have light sockets but no light bulbs. Room lighting is central, and no privacy curtains. The hostel is alright for a short stay only.

Hi ,I’m the Scottish guy who turned up without photo I.D. on Wednesday. Many thanks for allowing me to stay the 2 nights I had booked. I realise that it was unusual for the establishment to allow this so really appreciate accommodating my request. This is the 3rd. time I have used/stayed at the Hostel and would have no hesitation in recommending the establishment [and next time I’ll be sure to bring my photo I.D. Regards. William
