The staff were great; very nice people. The place was very quiet and had everything I needed. Not overly big but is not overly important.
Wi fi was spotty; was hit or miss at times. Breakfast. When I think of B&B, breakfast to me includes protein; i.e. eggs or some kind of meat or cheeses. Cereal, fruit and bread are fine but it's not a complete breakfast and for that reason I said the place didn't meet my expectations. Everything else was fine but breakfast IS important to me and I WILL pay for it; I just expect it to have protein.

Great breakfasts with homemade jam for my toast and gluten-free options available. Great for me being coeliac. Lovely, friendly staff that were happy to have a chat and find out about my work trip, and clearly take pride in the accommodation they have to offer. Clean, tidy rooms, in a historical building (that you can read about in the books and leaflets available) with a well-maintained pool and grounds. Close to town, the ferries, and water taxis in Picton. Home away from home.

lovely staff, even took us down to the ferry when the taxi was busy. very comfortable bed, bathroom small but adequate, lovely fluffy towels, tea, coffee and milk, cereal, toast yogurt, fruit tea and coffee for breakfast, happy to take care of our luggage while we waited for the ferry, swimming pool looked good but too chilly to use it 🤣 recommend
bathroom a little tight

Picton is very nice, a ferry port between the New Zealand North and South islands. The gateway to the South Island. It was a panic booking due to other factors but by chance the apartment was free. Really would have liked to stay and have use of it for longer but life makes it's own design, it's own route like driving on a motorway without turnoffs!
On check in, although all went well, not quite a welcome as I normally expect, a bit frosty start!

Excellent location close to shops, restaurants and the ferry. Coral was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for walks and dinner suggestions. This is an historic building, not a purpose built hotel, so don't expect a huge room but ours was comfortable and all we needed. There was a light continental breakfast of cereal, toast, fruit and yogurt.
Bright light outside our room at night. Blackout curtains would have been helpful.

Excellent central location, easy walk to town centre and ferry terminal. Relaxed feel and friendly family staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was exceptional: sumptuous muesli, cereal, fruit and fruit purée, toast, juice, coffee in charming surroundings. Shower looked basic but was actually terrific - full on water pressure: yay!
Bed was softer than I really like. But maybe that‘s just me. I slept well, anyway.

Room is a bit oldschool, with separate hot/cold taps in the bathroom and kitchen but you get such a big room for the price, it's worth it. You get a little dining area and couches with a nice TV, there was two beds in the room we stayed in. Location is excellent and plenty of parking. Also this destination seems to attract repeat customers, which is always a good sign. I don't understand these other reviews where people say the owner is rude - she may be abrupt on the phone when busy, but frankly Coral has been nothing but an absolute pleasure to deal with, she was welcoming right from the get go and made sure I got in nicely and was very chatty/friendly. I had left my smartphone behind and she allayed my fears immediately promised to take good care of it until I could send out a self-addressed courier bag. What an absolute legend, honest & trustworthy. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Double bed seemed to have a loose wheel underneath, other than that everything was stellar.

The breakfast was very nice simple and good selection, different cereals and fruit and yoghurt options. Lovely jam for the toast as well!
I think the curtains are a little thin, getting blackout curtains or a roller blind would stop the light from the streetlamp getting through. But it didn't bother me that much

Very homely & welcoming.
Personally I would remove the wardrobe in the room we were in & pop a small fridge in there. That was the only disappointment of our whole experience. Not having a fridge in the room. Luckily the atmosphere of the whole place made up for that. We had a fabulous stay and slept well on the huge lovely comfy bed. The breakfast which was included was delightful with homemade fruit salad & stewed rhubarb along with all the other breakfast goodies. 💯 percent will stay there again when passing through to catch the ferry. Great people and great location. My host really helped with onwards travel and keeping luggage. Even gave me hand written suggestions for my travels in South Island. I booked because another travels said how friendly they were. Well, I endorse that. A fantastic change from hotels. Thoroughly recommend it. Wish I had stayed longer. Edward.
