The location is perfect. Easy access to everything in town by foot. Great views of the lake. We had a one bed apartment for four nights and the size was spot on. As we had been hiking and were tired it was great to be able to sit with our feet up and have some room to move around. Also great to be able to open a window rather than rely on aircon all the time. We had been at the hotel for 2 night before the hike and had left the bulk of our luggage at the hotel for safe keeping. 4 night later when we returned they had our bags up in our new room ready for us. Could not thank them enough for having everything handled so seamlessly. Can not recommend more highly.
I think the bed could be nearing the end of its life. There was quite dip in the mattress. Other than that we have no other issues.

The location of the Novotel is simply unbeatable. Nestled right on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, the views are nothing short of breathtaking. Every morning, I woke up to stunning vistas of the mountains and the tranquil lake, which set the perfect tone for the day. Its proximity to the city center made it easy to explore local shops, restaurants, and attractions without needing a car.
I had a less than satisfactory experience with dry cleaning during my stay. I sent three pieces of my new waterproof clothing to be laundered, only to receive them back with a foul odor reminiscent of rotten milk. This was particularly frustrating, as these were brand new items that I had hoped to enjoy during my time in Queenstown. The timing couldn't have been worse, as I discovered the issue on my last day before departure, leaving me without the clothing I needed for my adventures. While I appreciate that the hotel utilises to contact the third party company, I believe that more stringent quality control is necessary to prevent such issues from impacting guests' experiences. This incident was a significant drawback and did detract from an otherwise lovely stay.

We are on a 10 day NZ road trip (Dec 23-Jan 2) starting from Queenstown. This hotel is in great location- walkable distance to the town center, gondola rides, paragliding etc and the 3km lake front walking/biking pathway. Excellent breakfast buffet options with courteous staff across the hotel- valet, front desk, house keeping, and restaurant. They have an activities desk where one can book tours to local and farther attractions such as Milford Sound & Glow Worm caves. Though we took a rental car as soon as we landed in Queenstown, we could have as well spent that money (plus $50/day in Parking) wisely using local guided tour operators and rented a car on our way out of Queenstown.
Pricey!! And so seems to be most of the hotels we booked across our 7 day South Island stays - Queenstown, Te Anau, Manapouri, Oamaru, Christchurch. Range between NZ$450 -$550 per night for a family of four.

I love Novotel in Queenstown. I always spend time here because it's close to everything yet removed from the buzz. The beds out of this world, massive too. I always book a lakefront room. Walking distance to my favourite restaurant Blue Kanu, ice-cream (Patagonia), the lovely Romer Gallery of breathtaking landscape photography by Stefan Romer... a must stay for exploring the area or go on a scenic flight and cruise to Milford Sound. I regret not swimming in the lake despite being literally in front of our room. Voodoo café also walking distance.
Would have been nice to sqweeze a little table and chairs on the balcony. Admittedly narrow. A stool ot two:)

We stayed on the ground floor (previously have had an Alpine Room). Some of the rooms clearly have shower curtains which ours did. I feel that these are a thing of the past and unhygienic and need to be replaced with glass doors. The carpet could also do with replacing - just looking a little tired compared to the Alpine rooms.

Beautiful hotel, staff were friendly. Parking out the front of the hotel, although if you arrive late in the day, it may be full, so you may need to hunt around for a spot. We only had the breakfast but great variety and great location to go for lunch / dinner else where.

Staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was nice and had everything we needed and it was serviced regularly. The buffet breakfast was fantastic with lots of food choices. We had room service for dinner one night and it was delicious. The location was amazing. We loved being so close the town and the lake and no hills to walk to get back from town.
The only negatives we had were the pillows, needed a slightly harder one. Also the heat pump would make funny noises occasionally. It was fine during the day but was annoying when it happened in the middle of the night.

The location close to town very handy for walking directly from the hotel to the shops. The high standard of the dishes offered on the dinner menu. However the chef was outstanding on the night of Friday 29th March, and different on the night of Sunday 31st for the same dish. It was obvious about a change of chef in the kitchen. Keep the chef who was on duty on Friday 29th March and we will be back in a jiffy.
The size of our room could have been a bit wider. We will make sure of the proper size next time we book.

Our room we were given had some issues we were not happy with and the staff and management were fabulous. We were moved to a wonderful room the next morning... Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Super comfortable beds. Our little one turned 3 and the lovely reception staff gave her a gift. The young children staying were all given a NZ kiwi or lamb soft toy on arrival. The location was just the best .. directly opening onto the lakefront and our views were amazing. Restaurant food superb. All the staff we met were so good .. very approachable and friendly and going above and beyond to help. Some of the best staff of any hotel we have stayed at in NZ.
That we had to leave. Our stay was too short.

Location and room on the bottom floor with access to courtyard/garden was excellent (only like 50?metres from lake front). Valet parking and the guys who look after the luggage were awesome. We arrived early but were able to roam around the town while they parked the car for us and looked after our luggage until room was ready. By the time we returned our room was ready with the luggage already there.
The breakfast buffet was so disappointing. Not at all what is expected for such a hotel. Absolutely horrible food in terms of taste and presentation. Unclean and not up to standard. Everything was cheap quality or old and wilted from the previous day (or week). I can understand now why there was hardly anybody eating there. I am surprised I didn’t get food poisoning, it was that bad. Also got a fright when housekeeper let herself into our room while we were taking a nap, half naked. She probably got a fright too.
