It was obvious a lot of work has gone into making/keeping the rooms clean. My room was almost spotless with little visible wear - not an easy task with older furniture and decor that I’m sure has had a lot of use. The host was very helpful - he knows how everything runs in the area and can answer all your questions. He took the time to explain where everything in my room was and how it all worked.
The mattress in the bedroom I had is badly in need of replacing. Also, I turned on one of the heated mattress covers to high and soon noticed an unpleasant odour. The smell went away after I turned it down/off.

The manager, Robin, is very friendly and helpful. He even managed to get some last minute tickets for us on a cruise to Doubtful Sound for the next day. The room we stayed in was new with first class facilities. - the best we have stayed in so far during our tour of NZ. We are very happy to recommend this motel.

The place we got was huge! Heaps of space in the upstairs 3 br townhouse style place. It could sleep 8 people if needed.
Exhaust fans in toilet and shower would be advisable. Having said this, only 1 place out of 6 places we stayed over a 2 week period in NZ had exhaust fans, which is weird coming from Australia where such fans are in every toilet and shower. Its also strange considering NZ is a cold country - you would think you would want the option to have the fan on, instead of having to open the exterior window to get ventilation when its freezing outside. i suspect this is a cultural thing, but still i advise to have exhaust fans installed in such a large place where 8 people could be toileting and having showers.

The studio was ok, but not updated. Great location, walking distance to main street in town and right across from beautiful Lake Te Anau
We rented the Queen Bed in the studio, where the bed was too old and bouncy, but the bed was better in the one bedroom we rented for the next three nights. (We needed the extra fourth night, and that is what was available) Liked the separate bedroom and bathroom (did not need the second bed in the living room/ kitchen) but would be good is you had an extra person staying with you.)

We had the original 3 bed unit upstairs for our family of 6. The unit was very clean, spacious and comfortable. It has 3 good size bedrooms with another double bed I the main lounge area. There is also a balcony where you can take in the views and listen to the sounds of the birds chirping. The manager Robin was extremely helpful and pleasant and went out of his way to show us around the apartment as we checked in and made sure all was just right for us.

Room, location and cleanliness were great. Exceptionally friendly welcome and service by owner. Robyn couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome, give us local info on restaurants, and even rushing to give us a clothes rack for our wet gear when it was raining all night, to allow us to get it dry. He even instructed us to ''crank up the heater" to get it dry. And Robyn incredibly kindly held our room for an interrupted stay with one night at his place, one night at the Sounds, and then another night at his place. He didn't want us to have to vacate the room and take all the luggage with us. No charge for that night in between!

unassuming from the front but when we entered our unit was extremely surprised and happy. The unit was number 18 upstairs at the back, recently refurbed , it was a large unit could take 4 people, as it had a bed settee in the living area.Spotless, clean and tidy , lovely bedding and towels, goos shower.Beautiful views towards the mountains.Small table and chairs outside and enjoy the views/ sunset. In a quiet area only 10 mins walk to bars restaurants etc Has laundry facilities if needed Robert the manager/owner? was most helpful with tips and advice would defo recommend - certainly unit 18

The room was spacious and comfortable. We were able to relax after a long day of hiking.
The button to turn on the stove top (yes, you must turn the stove on first before you’re able to turn the burners on) is located at the far left end of the counter away from the stove. The manager seemed pretty irate that we didn’t know that, and was put out that he had to come and help us sort it out.

Easy check in, attentive staff, good communication and easy instructions. Great location near the lake and all town amenities. Utilized the laundry amenities which were terrific. The room itself was exceptionally clean and well maintained.
It was very hot when we visited the Red Tussock Motel. Unfortunately the room did not have air conditioning which wouldn't be a problem if we could open the windows and achieve cross ventilation. However, we couldn't open the windows, after dark, as they had no fly-screens fitted and the lights attracted mosquitos. I couldn't sleep in a stuffy room with no air, so resigned to opening the windows and sleeping with the mosquitos who made their way into the room regardless of no lights on.

All was perfect, we even added one more night - many thanks, Robyn! The motel is very convenient to both Milford and Doubtful, so thanks to the extra night we did both Real NZ cruises and they were fantastic each in its own way. Also visited the bird sanctuary nearby, which was free and very interesting, two Takahe peacefully strolling inn their enclosure, what a treat.
All great, as expected.
