Stunning gardens and excellent facilities, eg. barbecues, laundry. Spacious rooms and lovely deck.

The unit and kitchen is clearly set up to be cooked in. We came intending to cater for ourselves for 5 nights. But it was more difficult than it should have been because the utensils etc are minimal and ineffective, eg. a peeler that barely peels, knives that are blunt, glass cutting boards that are awful to cut on, cheap frying pan that everything sticks to, and only half an old scourer to clean it with. The property would rate as excellent rather than good if the kitchen were addressed.

The lodge was great. The location has beautiful landscaping, we had a table and two chairs outside on the deck with trees and flowers nearby, birds and bees and butterflies all around, it was lovely. The room was spacious and clean, with a sitting area, kitchenette with table and chairs, a separate bedroom and large bathroom. This was the first time we encountered the lovely New Zealand custom of providing real milk for guests. As a tea drinker I really appreciate this gesture, tea tastes so much better with real mik instead of half and half or that artificial coffee whitener. We would encounter this many more times on our trip but this was the first, so really memorable. Parking was right next to the cabin, very convenient.

Our neighbours were a bit noisy, having their door open with the TV sound way up. That's not the lodge's fault, of course, and we decided not to complain but to enjoy the beautiful setting instead. That's pretty much all I can come up with, we would stay there again without hesitation.

We didn't pay too much attention when booking this accommodation, as we just wanted a place to rest for a night after the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and before driving to Wellington. What a lovely surprise this place was! I absolutely loved staying here - spacious and clean rooms, a comfortable bed and a covered terrace in front of the apartment. Even though we didn't get to use the kitchen, it was supplied with pretty much all apliences one would need. Some details I appreciated and haven't seen before were the parking spots next to every apartment and the Netflix account the apartment had for guests. The gardens were pretty and well kept. However, I have to admit that what helped tremendously with my experience at the Creel Lodge hotel was the beautiful and incredibly friendly cat that decided to make us his friends and waited for us to wake up the next morning in front of our door.

Everything. The unit was furnished with everything you would need. Warm, cosy and very quiet. The owners had even supplied planters with herbs and spinach to cook with. Comfortable beds. Plenty of spare bedding. The unit was exceptionally clean. Beautiful setting and the gardens are just lovely. Close to the river and easy access to all fishing spots. Good takeaway food in Turangi village. No road noise could be heard at all. Parking on site. Loved that each group of units had their own BBQ area and outside seating. This place is a true gem.

We really enjoyed our stay at Creel Lodge. The room was very nice and clean, we had separate bedrooms, living area and kitchen, and porch. If you walk to the back of the property there is a private gate that leads to a nice walk by the river. The lodge is also close enough to take a short walk into the main town area where there is a grocery store and restaurants. I would recommend staying here and would stay here again.

The one bedroom apartment was very spacious and super comfortable. The bathroom was big, the kitchen facilities were top-notch, and the bedroom was very inviting. Wish we could have stayed more than one night.

The large front window (which showcases the entire living room) is either totally covered or completely uncovered. You are either in the dark or on display to everyone who walks by. Sheer curtains would let light in and provide a little privacy.

I just stayed one night to break up my journey which was a shame as Creel Lodge seemed to be in a perfect location for a few days break for walking, cycling and fishing. The accommodation was comfortable and clean. The fully fitted kitchen would be very useful for a longer stay. The whole lodge area had immaculate gardens, was well laid out and quiet. The river was on the doorstep. There is a café on site for breakfasts and lunches which served healthy well presented food. There are food options for the evening in Turangi. My real find was the Hare and Copper restaurant.

There was nothing I would fault but an observation was the slightly dated décor. That said I would certainly stay at Creel Lodge again and make sure it was for a few days.

We loved the whole atmosphere and the decor of the executive suite was excellent. Beautiful furniture and furnishings including the beautiful bedding. The china and kitchenware would be the best we have ever seen and attention to details was incredible. The outdoor landscaping was perfect and so peaceful, private and quiet. We appreciated the hours and hours of hard work that has gone into the landscaping by mainly Peter and we could see the love and attention to details that were achieved in the whole property. Great having the chance to "go through the gate" for a lovely peaceful walk to the river. Thank you to all concerned for a wonderful stay. We wished we were staying longer and hope we can get back to Creel Lodge. Will recommend the facilities to friends especially fishing facilities. Kind regards Stella and Roy (Carterton)

Nothing could be better.

Nice quiet location. Large apartment with kitchen, friendly and helpful staff. It's a short walk to lovely river views, and if you're there for fishing, it's the perfect stop. There is a laundry room onsite, which is always helpful when traveling for a month. Very close proximity to a New World supermarket. (The first time you visit a New World market in New Zealand, ask for a tourist membership card, no sign-up required. It will save you money every time you shop.)

An extremely minor point: napkins or paper towels would be useful in a place with a kitchen.

Obviously aimed at those coming to fish in the adjacent river, but it was quiet, well laid out and in beautiful surroundings. Good riverside walks on the doorstep. There is a shop and cafe on the site (cafe offers breakfast) but we didn't get the opportunity to use them. Kitchen facilities in the lodge were excellent. Parking outside the door.

The local town didn't have much to offer, apart from a good supemarket and petrol station.
