The room size and facilities were well suited for my family. Location was ideal for us and the motel is literally a 3min drive OR 7min walk to the hot pools up the road. Upon arrival we were greeted by the maintenance guy Roscoe - he was super pleasant to deal with always greeted us with a smile as did the owner she was lovely also.

The creakiness in the upstairs floorboards. My husband and I were sleeping downstairs while our children were upstairs. Every time they walked the floorboards creaked so loud that it woke us up multiple times.

The owner was so friendly, and really helpful with everything. The place so nice and a lot of space for kids playing around. Fire pit, bbq all provided by the staff was really lovely. And the place is really closed to thermal pool and the town, and of course only 30-35 mins away from Ruapehu💜☃️

A little bit renovation around the interior wood, bathroom, and some deep clean towards the spider web and the carpet will make this place 10/10💜

- The studio was really big - The instructions on how to use the facilites were clear - Parking was available for each room - Their hot pool was not avilable, but the Tokaanu hot pools were located within a walking distance

- the furniture and facilities were a bit outdated, but still working - there was noise coming from the national highway nearby whenever a car was speeding; we slept with earplug - the wifi signal was not stable, but I think this was a temporary issue

Gave the kids an experience of the late 80s/early 90s in the decor dept. 😉 However it was very clean throughout and had comfy beds. Very friendly, helpful staff who were able to advise of an alternative place to swim with their own pool being out of action. Great value for money. House was warm and dry with the heat pump provided

Could go an extractor fan in the bathroom, it got very steamy and was quite cold with it being so open. Really my only gripe!

It had a homely feel, and the fact we only had to book one room for all of us

It was a bit dirty like down beside the oven there was food, something had clearly been spilt in the oven as it smoked up the room when we turned it on. And we got visited by an army of ants. We had kids playing with toys so probably looked in places your average person wouldn’t looking for balls but it’s clear the cleaners aren’t cleaning under things like tv cabinet and couches (under beds were clean as we checked those as we left for anything that had slipped under).

We loved our stay. The rooms were spacious and well thought out , being 7 of us (2 x adults ,5 x children) we weren't in each other's faces and all space was utilized well. I loved how they try to lessen theirs/our footprint by recycling and stopping food waste going to landfill by going to their worm farm /compost or feeding the chickens! Kids lived in the fresh water family pool. The pools are covered too so big bonus no sunburn. They also filter the water back through the ground and recycled naturally, feeding all the plants along the way . Everything is thought out well. Prime location just a 6 minute drive into Turangi for all necessities but also have items available to buy in the office for convenience. Honestly just loved our hosts! They were the cherry on top of our holiday , so lovely and quick to attend anything that needs attention. They checked in on us regularly to see if we needed anything and we were always met with a smile. Very bitter sweet having to say goodbye!

Clean lodging, comfortable beds, quiet room, functional kitchen and bathroom, kids loved the books, the spacious attic bedroom and the outdoor trampoline. Staff promply turned up to clean the kitchen floor and deliver a carton of milk on the second morning of our stay.

Furniture and flooring looks tired and in need of refreshing. Hot pool was out of service. TV was lacking good programmes (seems to be on Sky basic package) so nothing to watch in the evening/night.

Great quiet location with solid and very clean units. Great value for money. Good amenities like pool, BBQs, trampoline and close to Hot springs. Shower is excellent. Nice little touches to update the units like faux pot plants, colourful chairs and other accessories. Very friendly hosts and onsite small shop for basic snacks. Good onsite parking.

Showing its age a little and beds are a little uncomfortable.

The location was great for our planned day skiing on the mountain; the rooms were clean and comfortable for our home away from home and we had everything we needed for a comfortable night before heading out to the mountain the next day.

The hot pool was part of the appeal of Tokaanu Lodge but was not available during the time of our stay. To give credit staff did notify us ahead of our visit that the hot pool would not be accessible during our stay.

if your looking at a place to have as a base this is it. close to shops 4 km and highly recommend the Turangi Pub for dinner had vegetarian options which were tasty and Time for food Cafe for breakfast and coffee take a stroll down to the Tokaanu hot pools and Geyser walk don’t forget to say hello to the friendly horse along the way. Whakapapa Sky field was 40 min drive with sights to see along the way including a spectacular lookout, Opotaka and waterfalls , views of the Maunga ,Mountains covered in snow . Tokaanu has a historical wharf just a hop,skip,jump away too. make sure you have filled up on Gas/ Petrol before you leave Turangi.

I couldn’t say anything I didn’t like so much as it needs a little love and would be a gem in the making
