Loved the simple, traditional decor and the many special extras such as the port and pastries at the bottom of the stairs and the robes and complimentary water in the rooms. Very cool stationery shop in the lobby and fantastic location with restaurants, shops and live music within steps.

The room was clean and pretty. The location is simply amazing, very central and easy to access by metro or by taxi. Special THANK YOU to the reception staff that was super friendly and super helpful. These ladies and gentlemen can do anything from sending your postcards for you to urgently finding you a dentist! Great level of service! Looking forward to coming back to this hotel.

The breakfast at the hotel is a little expensive.

The hotel is characterful and very well situated in the historic centre. The reception staff were welcoming, friendly and generally delightful. The room was large, clean, charming and had a street view (which we requested). The bathroom and shower were sparkling clean and the shower was very good. There was a welcoming drink and some delicious chocolate for us on arrival. The stair carpet was rather worn but was being replaced the morning we left.

We were asked to pay for the room on our arrival! The music from the square outside seemed charming at first but was relentless and became tiresome and intrusive. Breakfast was a nonsense! We were told on arrival - late in the evening - that it was €17 each. The following morning we were told that because we hadn’t booked it on arrival it would be €20 each. We felt this was a bit steep for what turned out to be a (pretty average) standard breakfast and were then asked if we would like to leave a 10% tip for what had been entirely self-service. Breakfast in the cafe next door was less than half the price.

We booked this last minute and got a great deal. the hotel is in an excellent location! The room was comfortable, just a tad small but we didn’t mind. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay in Porto!

Occasionally there was a strong smell of sulfur - which we think was coming from the bathroom pipes.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Porto AS 1829 and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the hotel's charm, impeccable cleanliness, and the exceptional level of service provided by the staff. The breakfast was absolutely superb every day with wonderful variety. The location in Old Town Porto was perfect on the square but we were not impacted by any street noise. The room was room was on the smaller side but perfectly adequate. The bed was comfortable, the shower pressure and hot water were brilliant and the aircon was excellent. Lastly, we must commend the exemplary customer service received at Hotel Porto AS 1829. All the staff were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was nothing short of perfect. They were knowledgeable about the local attractions, providing excellent recommendations for dining, sightseeing, and activities. Their genuine warmth and professionalism made us feel welcomed and valued as guests leaving a lasting impression.

No dislikes whatsoever. Highly recommended hotel.

Wonderful staff. Interesting old property in a high tourist area.

It was off season (January) and the hotel was doing renovations in the other rooms. Noisy and powerful paint fumes. Front desk offered to change my room. The main concern about this wonderful hotel is the lack of mobility aids in the common areas and rooms - something to be expected in heritage buildings in Portugal. The hotel reception is several scary sharp steps down from street level without a handrail, the hallway to my room required several steps to another level. No handrails in the bathrooms. However, there was an elevator and the front desk offered to have my bags carried up to my room which was great. Normal customers would probably not be concerned about these things but anybody with mobility issues should think twice.

The staff was incredible. The food was amazing. Breakfast had a wide range of options, some good and some mediocre but you can just have what you like. Champaign included during breakfast (but nespesso coffee at breakfast was a letdown). My main complaint is how they handled parking. They have a place they reccomend for parking. There’s currently a construction project in front of the hotel that blocks access to cars. This creates a situation where you have to haul luggage through a narrow and steep medieval town and then park far away and lug yourself to the hotel. What the hotel should be doing is recommending a taxi to meet you at the parking lot and pick you up from there with your luggage. That one issue aside, this was a fabulous hotel with amazing staff and a good concept. Highly reccomend. I would return if the price were right - they tend to overcharge. It’s worth paying up to 250 per night. Any more than that seems too much for what you get. But again, it’s a good hotel with a good concept

We did not end up eating breakfast . Location was second to none !!

The lighting was not very good especially in the bathroom. The shower of the bath was leaking everywhere. The scales were broken

The hotel was very clean and always presentable. I love the history of A.S. Along with the stationary shop that has A.S. Brand items and other items from other parts of the world. And, naturally the hotel theme reflected the A.S. History. The hotel staff were excellent! They were very personable and professional. Recommended the best local restaurants and wine tours. The complimentary port wine and pastel de natas was the icing on the cake! The restaurant food was excellent as well! Great location and atmosphere.

The Staff is extremely nice nice and helpful. We never experienced such friendly staff so far. The room size is good. We very much liked the welcome Port wine and Pastel del Nata.

The old town of Porto is actually very touristy. There are very few people in porto which actually live this area. Therefore the prices and the range of choice in shops and Restaurants in this area is very much targeted to tourists. Though the area is very beautiful. If you want to experience the true Porto, you need to go somewhere else.
