The property was very well-run and well designed. They have recently underwent a full renovation of the property, changing from a Ramada to Wyndham Garden Inn. It is much nicer now, and the hotel has a teal and green theme throughout. It’s very pretty and I appreciate all of the small touches, like a neon sign with a backdrop for photos and subtle teal designs in all of the rooms. They have a little snack shop with fairly priced goods and even some free coffee and tea. There is a little bar area as well where they serve breakfast in the mornings. All of the staff are very friendly and the manager Julie was kind to us. The rooms were good and had ample space, along with alarm clocks and plenty of charging ports. The Wi-Fi was easy to connect to and worked well, even when my phone’s cellular data was giving me spotty coverage. They also now have an elevator which seems brand new and works well. The bathrooms also have LED backlit mirrors which I personally love and help to show the elegance of the property. There is great social spaces throughout the hotel, and various couches and places for people to sit. I was only by the pool for a little while but it seemed nice. Walking distance from Walmart and a few other stores and about 20 minutes from Chestnut Mountain.

The TVs are a bit dated and it doesn’t seem like they were part of the renovation. I hope they update those soon, as for $200 a night I want to watch Netflix on my TV. The breakfast is fine, but I would have loved a little bit more variety, like more fresh fruits or smoothies. Lastly, I miss the warm cookies they used to have back when it was a Ramada. It was such a nice touch that I used to love and hope that they can find the heart to bring back. Especially at the increased price point, I’m sure a few cookies wouldn’t do much to harm their overall profitability. Otherwise not too many complaints and we had a nice stay.

The welcoming staff were wonderful! They were also incredibly accommodating. They even offered to get ice for our room They also recommended restrestaurants. The building was spotless. And there is a day spa. Our room was clean, good sized, and the bed was awesome. The pool, hot tub, and outdoor patio was so nice to relax in. The location to downtown Galena was perfect. Checkout was quick. We would definitely go back again.

NOT A COMPLAINT I would just love to have had the salsa left out at room temperature. Salsa has so much acid from the tomatoes it would be fine setting out for hours. That way, if you put it on your eggs they won't get cold. 🙂

Clean, easy to get around, bright and cheerful looking, good and free breakfast most days (no Mondays), nice little Indulge shop and charming comfy deck level one. Also sink in room outside the one in bathroom was a great help! Easy parking

Housekeeping totally skipped us one day. Free hot water in lobby always cold at night. Not the hotel’s fault, but a distance from historic sites and Main Street. Unfortunately US 20 was under a lot of construction. But still was easy enough access.

Location and cleanliness. Extra sink in bedroom was a plus. Updates that were done looked nice. Front desk staff greeted us when we arrived.

Rooms should be updated for the price. There are carpeted baseboards, old shower inserts, and walls in bathroom were not in good shape by the mirror. Entrance is slippery when it’s raining, almost fell. Front desk staff should know if wineries are open and more about the area for people coming from out of town for tourism.

The location is very convenient to getting around the Galena/Dubuque area. Though it's on a relatively busy road, we heard nothing in the way of traffic. Breakfast was very good, with both hot and cold options. The dining area was a little tight, but we got a table every morning. Excellent coffee with plenty of creamer options. The room was very clean and well laid out. We appreciated the excellent blackout shade and when we opened it, we got tons of sunshine in the room (facing South/overlooking the parking lot). The heat/ac in the room was excellent and we very much appreciated being able to have the fan (white noise) on during the night. The bathroom was very nice, with a tub/shower combo. Loved the two hairdryers in both the bathroom and room sink (outside the bathroom). The products for hair and skin are fairly standard, but nice smelling. The mini fridge and microwave were very nice to have. The outlets for phone/computer are really convenient and work well.

WiFi could be a lot better. Definitely needs a boost. I found the bed too firm, but my husband absolutely loved it.

The room was clean, and bigger then expected. The pool and hot tub were fantastic! The breakfast buffet was really good ( need bigger area for seating). Staff was helpful and polite. Will return again

We have 3 smaller children and they put us on the 2nd floor. Of course they were excited and jumping around and of course we had 2 people tell management we were to loud (it was nothing crazy loud).. so if people have kids, try and put them on the 1st floor to avoid such issue.

The main area/entrance is beautiful. Was greeted promptly by a lady at the front desk and she was extremely kind. She was also thorough with details about the property & facilities. I also appreciate that you no longer say the room number out loud, that made me feel comfortable & safe! Room was spacious, the bed wasn’t the most comfortable but it was very large and the pillows were great. The breakfast was yummy. Also the view was beautiful from our room!

Did not have anything to dislike!

Breakfast was good. Room was clean. Location was good. Easy to find.

Fireplaces were not working. Kids in hot tub. Not relaxing for this adult. Kids knocking on their friends door at midnight. Where were their parents? Pancake machine was broken. Bar should be open later. Or how about a complimentary drink at happy hour?

Would like to recognize Chet who was a staff member that was attentive and very courteous. We usually stayed at your neighbor Country Inn and Suites. We switched as we liked the idea of a bar in the hotel which was very quaint.

Breakfast was a little blah, but that was the only thing that did not exceed expectations.
