Lovely location and obviously on a very good golf course. Rooms were lovely and had all the facilities you would expect. Staff were brilliant and breakfast was superb. Eveything available to you including fruit, pastries, cooked full english, sweet, savioury. All as a buffet but no food left out for long periods of time so it was all fresh.

The only thing was that the pool and steam rooms etc were a long way away from our room. Nothing wrong with that, but at the end of a long journey to get there, it was just a hassle to take all our stuff across the large expanse of the resort to get to the pool. It was us being lazy I accept, but you did ask!!

Lovely hotel and grounds, plenty of space to relax or exercise depending on your preference. Very spacious and comfy double room with large armchair and sufficient storage to feel at home. Really enjoyed the choice and quality of food for breakfast (Gemma was really helpful and attentive to our large group).

The pillows were too flat. I did ask for more which were provided very quickly but still didn’t create the comfort that I would have liked. The shower screen was slightly annoying as it doesn’t open very far so difficult to reach the taps. This isn’t very practical for someone with children getting them into the bath. For most people I’m sure this wouldn’t be an issue.

Beautiful hotel and surroundings. Luxurious retreat yet so well connected. Welcoming and helpful staff.

Awful WiFi. I pay for a hotel room and expect strong free WiFi. Being asked to pay for it or subscribe is mean. Restaurant is a lovely venue and service was warm and friendly. But the meal was bad - dry reheated dish. When I’m tired after a long day I just want to eat a meal and get to bed. So I didn’t complain. But I hope this was a one off error and there will be better quality control in the kitchen next time. Little things but wifi offer and food let down an otherwise outstanding hotel.

The staff were exceptional and most went above and beyond. Especially the maître d at breakfast, who was super impressive helping us get items we needed and organising our breakfast in room for our second day. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and made you feel very festive. The bar was well staffed, food was good if a bit pricey and the pool/gym areas were really welcoming and nice. Our room had a lovely little patio overlooking the golf course and we were fortunate enough that the weather was nice to be able to use it with your coat on!

Breakfast was like a Motorway cafe, very busy, few staff clearing tables, food running out with staff desperately trying to get it refilled. However if you asked, staff quickly found what you wanted and brought it to you at your table if it was going to take a bit longer. No tea pots. On a positive, the hot food was in quantities that didn't get cold and unappealing, so was being replenished frequently and therefore remained hot and as fresh as can be in those situations. Beware, we decided to have breakfast in our room the second morning and were told by reception that you had to pay full price, even if you had paid for a bed and breakfast rate. We complained and we didn't get charged.

The hotel was beautiful the staff all were amazing, polite friendly and made the stay for us. We were given a complimentary upgrade which we did decline as we specifically booked a lake view room and the upgraded although bigger and more near facilities there was no view. Food was excellent the steak was the best I have had in a long time. The pool was lovely. As it was our anniversary we were given a lovely hand written message and also 2 complimentary drinks and some chocolate, which was really a lovely gesture. The front welcome staff were amazing.

The pool is a little walk from changing room for females and to enter you have to go up a few stairs.

Jason in the dining area was friendly and helpful asking if we knew the area and offering us suggestions for places to visit, which we were very grateful for! The spa facilities were good which certainly made up for the fact we had arrived during a storm and the bridge was shut which had added over an hour to our journey due to traffic and going the long way round. Once at the hotel all that was forgotten about and we had a great time! We were also impressed that the staff had made the large ginger bread house for the Santa's Grotto, we couldn't believe it was all edible!!!

The breakfast was excellent, the best we have had at a hotel, although the evening a la carte menu although good seemed to be lacking, and all starters and mains which we ordered were covered in watercress as if it was an ingredient that had to be used up.

Very good breakfast. We chose to use the leisure centre when a wedding was taking place, it meant very few other guests used the facilities at the same time. The restaurant staff producing an unexpected anniversary glass of non alcoholic Prosecco at breakfast which my daughter arranged.

Very squeaky floor, a cracked wash handbasin in bathroom and brown mark on ceiling in room 324. My booking was for four rooms, one double with a cot, the cot needed to be requested in the room on arrival. One of the family suite rooms requested two single beds, but was provided with one pull down double bed and a double bed. The occupiers were a family of four with a nine year old and four year old. These specific bed frustrations were identified when booking and checked with hotel beforehand. We requested facecloths on Saturday morning at reception but did not receive.

The hotel itself and the facilities are very impressive. The older parts of the building are beautiful, with decor in keeping with the architecture, and many original features retained. The room was comfortable, spacious, tasteful and spotlessly clean, with nice amenities and a great view. Staff were very friendly, professional and accommodating, especially on reception and in the Leisure Suite. My Mum and I took full advantage of the heated pool, jacuzzi and sauna, passing through the large, air-conditioned gym on the way. The location is tranquil and pleasant to walk around, plus there was plenty of free, private parking on site and a pro golf shop, buggy hire etc.

There was no porter, so I carried both sets of bags up to our room. I chose not to dine or book breakfast, as the options for vegans were quite limited. The location is somewhat 'in the middle of nowhere', which may be an issue if you find there is an item you haven't packed, or fancy dining out - you'd either have to designate a driver, or call a taxi. Personally, I went for a break and to enjoy the hotel and facilities, so this wasn't an issue for me.

The hotel was beautiful! The scenery and the views were stunning. We were very impressed with how the building looked like a castle from the outside. The staff were very helpful and friendly on check in and at breakfast. The spa facilities were included with the stay. There is a pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room. There is also a very large gym. The breakfast was delicious and the sausage and bacon were of great quality meat.

In order to walk to the spa, you must go through a lot of corridors, and through a bar area. When you reach the desk to sign in to use the pool, you then walk through a large gym to get to the changing rooms. I found this difficult as we got lost a couple times trying to find the pool. There was a wedding at the hotel too and we felt uncomfortable when checking in as the wedding party were taking photos at the front door of reception.
