The interior decor beautifully done and the old parts of the place lovingly restored. Great breakfast in the most idyllic setting - it felt like we were dining in a little piece of paradise! The manager Sam went above and beyond to make our stay memorable - we can't wait to visit again!

With all of the load shedding I would have expected that some form of backup electricity would have been organised by now. I believe that this is planned in the near future which is great.

An amazing boutique hotel that really does go the extra mile for its guests. Turn downs, a detailed introduction of the history of the building and an amazing spa treatment.

We were the only ones staying in the hotel that night so it lacked a little atmosphere, but the staff were so upbeat and friendly and went out of their way to make us welcome.

The pool area, dining areas and other public areas are outstanding. Every meal that we had, whether breakfast or dinner was creative and very well prepared. All of the staff that we engaged with were exceptionally helpful and professional.

our only disappointment was that we had specifically reserved a suite with a view over the pool area (as offered on Booking.Com - but the room we were allocated has no view all all - in fact the balcony looked straight onto a wall. The room itself was well-appointed and felt like it was a “city hotel room” utilising limited space very well - but would have been so much better had it been as confirmed in the reservation.

Hotel’s interior design

Everything was good except we wanted to book massage when we walked out around 10am. unfortunately the manager Bianca said the system was down. she was talking to someone there who looks like an employee instead of a guest. instead of asking us what type of massages we would like to have she told us to try to book again when we are back. of course when we were back at 3pm all slots were booked. if she had been a bit customer oriented, she could have asked us, booked ahead, asked my whatsapp number and basically take a proactive measures. Another thing, menu’s selection could be better considering that there are other restaurants around the area which offer wayyyy more better choices.

So stylish, friendly staff, the yummy breakfast (great fresh fruit selection and al the types of eggs on can wish for). All so pleasant on the eyes. Beach bar 150 meters from the property. Did I mention the staff?

Nothing really - if anything it’s too bad the beach view was stolen. Oh and the English crowd don’t integrate (which was weird for me being in London all the time for work but not being British myself and trust me, we tried the small talk to no avail :)

Beautifully restored old building in Plettenberg - the main hotel is the original building and the guest rooms are in a separate block discreetly located. Lovely attentive staff, super food adapted to our diet. A short stroll to the beach or up to the town for shops galleries etc.

nothing to report

Gorgeous 1777 built hotel which has been lovingly renovated to provide every comfort possible. This stylish and beautiful Old Rectory hotel is is just off the beach so a good location. The beach is long and sandy for runners and walkers alike (we didn't swim in the sea as it was too chilly). The rooms are all beautifully decorated, from the bedrooms to the restaurant and onsite bar and lounge. Open fires in the lounge make for a comfortable snug to relax and just unwind. Internally there is a cool vibe and its been tastefully interior designed, a delight to spend time in the hotel enjoying its offerings. The pool and terrace was a great place to read and chill, listening to the birds sing in the array of old tropical trees (the pool and terrace area have been cleverly built around the trees). The food is superb: a large fab choice of menu at breakfast and dinner was particularly delicious with a good selection of excellent local SA wines. The staff are friendly and helpful. providing good recommendations of places to visit and restaurants to visit, so a memorable stay for us and we will definitely visit again. Thoroughly recommended!
