I can't say enough good things about Playa de la Luz. It's an old school resort for the locals. The property is meticulously kept and beautiful. Our room had a patio in front looking at the pool, and a window looking directly at the Atlantic surf in back. The pool was huge and warm. Food in the restaurant was very good, and we got an hour-long free flamenco show unexpectedly while at dinner. I could have stayed there another week or two easily.

No criticisms about the resort. A tip to visitors - I went swimming in the Atlantic (very comfortable, even in early May) the evening we arrived, which was wonderful. I went out to swim it again the next morning, the tide had gone out and was a half mile out from the shore! Oh well, swim in the pool instead. Life is tough sometimes. ;-)

Beautiful new room, exceeding expectations. nNoce swinnng ppol and located directly on the beah. Waling to the northon the beach is very beautifal and calm. Also the duen area is very nice. If you like a good strawl you can walk southwards to the village for a nice urban beach life styp]le including beach football, beach clubs etc. Also nice to make use of the rental steps, There is a very cylcle path to the center.

Typical resort with dinner. Food is good but you have to like the buffet concept.

Amazing hotel on the beach, great facilities, beautiful views. We had the best time and will return.

Really it is hard to find key negative factors. But I can share some improvements Some maintenance around the pool could have been scheduled out of season. The beach towel hand out and exchange was not easy (we had to go to reception each time) Also some Sun beds needed to be changed to new ones.

The location is lovely, right on the beach and you can walk to the town in 20 minutes where you can eat a bit cheaper. There is a lovely chiringuito next door, chiringuito Chris used by locals and great fun. (Turn right when you exit onto the beach). The staff are always attentive and very friendly and helpful.

Love the location and variety of bars and restaurants at the property. Staff were wonderful. Special mention for reception staff who sorted our only problem ASAP. Rooms were large airy and very clean. Air con quiet and efficient. Buffet breakfast was exceptional…. Best we’ve experienced. All bar and restaurant drink and food very good quality and reasonably priced.

No lift/elevator to first floor suites and as my husband has limited mobility it was impossible for him to access. We were accommodated in ground floor unsuitable room for one night until a suite became available. A minor thing for some people, but a major one for us, especially as hotel details on Booking.com suggested a lift was available.

The breakfast buffet (10E per day if you book all days of your stay) was well worth it! It was very well-stocked, included coffee drinks, juices, champagne, milk, water. Plenty of selection for breakfast including European favorites like cold cut meats, cheeses, bread, also American/British favorites like sausages, eggs, bacon, beans, and finally it also included local Spanish favorites like churros (yes, breakfast food in Spain) and Spanish tortillas (not flour - but more like an omelet). I was very happy also with the very large room with the Murphy beds for the kids and for the very nicely appointed bathroom with fluffy towels. I also made use of the bar and restaurant which both had great service and a nice selection of drinks. I will only stay here when we come to Rota.

Nothing! The only tiny criticism is that the lounge chairs on the deck by the ocean at the back of the property needed repair. But the lounges by the pool deck were all perfect.

Pretty much everything. Room (Junior Suite) nice and large, quiet air conditioning, very comfy beds, bathroom extra large with double sinks and fantastic bath & shower. Room décor very smart & classy. WiFi very fast & strong. Large balcony overlooking pool with ocean view. Balcony doors were soundproof kept everything nice & quite in the late night. Pool extra large and deep for excellent swimming. Beach right next door as well as nature park. Lots of free secure covered parking. Area is absolutely beautiful. Special mention to the house keeping staff who went out of their way to provide superior service and handle all our special requests. You are fantastic!

TV Channels - Hotel offered 50 channels, with 12 of them being German and only two English (CNN and Bloomberg). This seemed odd as the hotel had a large amount of American guests and very few Germans. I speak decent enough German, but still some variety would be nice. Pool side dining could have a few more options.

Right on the beautiful beach with gorgeous sunset views. Lovely pool. Astounding selection of choices at the breakfast and dinner buffets. A two-minute walk from the beautiful pine-forest boardwalk.

Only that you had to go to reception to get pool towels, which could involve quite a wait if people were checking in or out.

This is our second time in Playa de la luz and we love it. the staff are very good and in the summer there are activities for kids and families which means that really you can relax and have a proper break. the food in the restaurants is good and the pool is great.

It's a rocky beach with seaweed. Not a problem for us, but good to know if you're planning on lots of beach. we had a couple of cockroaches on the last day which is a real pain. Not the fault of the hotel as it is very clean and in the summer they come up through the drains, but obviously, not our favourite thing and did make me think twice before making a second booking

Lovely spacious room, very quiet very well appointed and High standard of cleanliness. There was a great variety at breakfast this was my third visit still great place to stay
