Breakfast was very good. There were a lot of things to have for breakfast. As it was in the highseason we were scheduled to have breadkfast at a specific hour. It was a bit tight. My father in law was not able to finish his breakfast within time. Room was nice and clean. The reception staff was very very helpful - e.g. the suggestions of where to go an eat nearby were just superbe. They really did anything to help us havin a good day. The location of the hotel was excellent if you want to see the WASA ship, Gamla Stand, the Castle and want to go on a cruise.

Hotel rooms in Stockholm are not cheap and many hotels offer rooms without windows. Thankfully I came across Hotel Esplanade, a gem of a place in one of Stockholm's most beautiful areas, right at the Strandvägen boulevard. Our room in the beautiful Art Nouveau building across from the harbor (boat tour to the Stockholm archipelago was only a 2 min walk) was large and sparkling clean. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was out of this world. Almost all of the dishes were homemade and thinking of the scrumptious midsummer cake still makes my mouth water. Now, the Esplanade is a little quirky. For example, in our room, the sink was located very close to the toilet in this kind of weird arrangement. In other words, don't expect total perfection. Nevertheless, this is a small hotel where the staff does not treat you like an anonymous number. It's one of those places that you will fondly remember!

Hotel Esplanade exceeded all my expectations and was a wonderful treat! Room 14 is a magnificent corner room, with charming original art deco timber work and exquisitely refurbished soft furnishings. It is a luxurious and spacious sanctuary with beautiful attention to every detail. The bed was supremely comfortable, and the room was generously furnished with many chairs, tables, a desk, a large walk-in wardrobe, comfortable ensuite and various lights and lamps to adjust for ambient lighting. The room had beautiful views of the water and old buildings across the water. The hotel also has a comfortable lounge room with clusters of sofas and armchairs, refreshments and a lovely view over the water. The hotel staff were all very helpful and offered great advice for options to dine nearby and attractions to explore. It was short walk from the Vasa Museum, the Royal Palace, Opera House, great restaurants, shops, and many historical attractions. If you enjoy staying in charming historical buildings with amazing architecture, beautiful décor and excellent service then this is a wonderful find.

Absolutely ideal and comfortable location for few days stay in Stockholm. Located nearby excellent bus & tram routes (for main station, Gamla Stann and Djurgargden) and also near some main ferry & boat trip embarkation points. Also number of restaurants within short walking distance. Comfortable hotel, with nice view from front rooms. Nice breakfasts and pleasant staff. After phone contact later, the hotel also kindly arranged postage of a pair of shoes which had been left behind back to our home address. Coffee available all day from good machine. Plenty room and cupboard space in deluxe room we occupied, furniture maybe bit old fashioned and tired.

Shower and bath arrangement - shower above old fashioned bath with open gap all around. So water goes everywhere when having shower. Obviously floor drain located below bath, but 5 mins spent each morning mopping up bathroom floor. The decor is generally older vintage and bath fits in with that, but not very practical for showering. Location and other factors more than compensate.

Nice hotel with great location. We had a superior twin room that was spacious with a view of the courtyard. IMO not much to see in the courtyard. The location is great with a short walk to the old town and easy access to the number 7 tram which takes you to train station or to the museums. Breakfast is really good and the staff are super friendly. For the price it is a nice value.

Courtyard view not great. There is no lift if you have heavy bags.

The staff were especially friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and cosy.

When booking this we believed that it was a 4 star hotel due to it having 4 stars under the name when listed on booking.com . This was in fact it’s booking.com rating from customers so perhaps that was a little misleading. This was not Hotel Esplanade’s fault at all and we definitely believe that it should be higher than a 2 star rated hotel. Booking.com need to be clearer.

Breakfast was amazing - lots of choice and constantly replenished. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The public spaces were lovely and comfortable and well furnished and spotlessly clean - the constant supply of free coffee and biscuits was also appreciated. We particularly loved the little two person balcony off the upstairs salon overlooking the water - a perfect place for people watching!

Our room was a little gloomy - the main light wasn’t too bright and the window didn’t let in a lot of light due to overlooking the internal ‘courtyard’. However this was reflected in the very reasonable price that we paid and didn’t detract from our enjoyment of a city break. For all its gloominess the room was perfectly functional and clean. I would suggest having a wall mirror in the bedroom as it was awkward trying to dry my hair standing in the bedroom whilst trying to look in the bathroom mirror!

The location. The superb breakfast. The shared "library/ living room/ lounge" on the 1st floor with a beautiful view. Coffee and tea all the time.

The carpets (in the room and the common areas) should be cleaner. The bathroom is tiny, and the toilet is next to the shower, so it is impossible to exit it normally. The heating in my room was very low for such a cold time, with no possibility of heating up. The view is not at the courtyard but at the other building.

Beautiful Art Nouveau property with bags of character. We loved the free drinks and biscuits in the downstairs lounge and the upstairs lounge has great harbour views. We were even given a packed breakfast for our early morning flight.

On the Saturday night there was a lot of noise from loud cars on the main road.

The hotel oozed old world charm with comfort and a friendly face. It was brilliantly centrally located providing facilities to rest between sight seeing, shopping, eating and entertainment. With lounges and dining areas to choose to sit quietly and rest or meet people there was also access tea, coffee and snacks throughout the day. Decorated in an older style it combined glamor and comfort. Great for solo travellors and those staying for more than a few days.
