An amazingly attentive, friendly, courteous staff whose only concern is to give their guests the best service possible. The world class breakfasts, exceptional views, comfortable sleeping, adorned in warm wood trim and polished brass fixtures, beautiful marble bathroom with heated towel rack, gorgeous spa room with saunas, hot tubs, heated ceramic lounge beds, a comfortable lounge and bar area and a really short walk to the main gondola & close proximity to some world class dining as well...my stay far exceeded my expectations and what I received was beyond anything but spectacularly special. I will return!!

Really?

Breakfast was good, a nice variety of food. The view from the breakfast hall was amazing. Our view from the room was also incredible. We had a balcony facing the Matterhorn. The hotel was a very short walk from the lift. Staff was polite, very friendly and helpful. Our room was good sized.

Of course the price was very good for Zermatt in general which is a quite expensive town. However as a coffee lover I would appreciate a small espresso machine or a french press for coffee in the room. (We had a 10 day stay and never were on time from the slopes to go to the coffee shop in the town which closes in the afternoon)

The Hotel Antares location is phenomenal for easy walk access to the Matterhorn Express Gondola - maybe 60 meters away. The restaurant across the road is called Little Matterhorn - fantastic Italian food. Highly recommend! The staff at the Hotel Antares were so warm, friendly and super-helpful! The morning breakfast crew were so smiley, energetic and fun - Emilia and Laura were the BEST! Thank you to those two to make our yummy breakfasts extra fun with lots of cappuccinos! Also we were very well taken care of by the front desk team, Luci and Robin! Bravo to those two! The views of the Matterhorn from our room balcony were exquisite and simply breathtaking especially when clear of clouds. If able, definitely pay the extra room charge for Matterhorn view.

Very minor - the ski locker for boots/skis is very convenient at street level but smelled pretty bad like a heavily used gym locker room. More ventilation would be good.

My wife stayed here a few years ago and recommended booking again for our ski vacation for it's proximity to Matterhorn Express gondola (Antares is a very short walk, only the second building from the gondola), spa, and breakfast. The management/reception staff is extremely attentive - two small requests during our stay were fulfilled immediately, they greet you with enthusiasm everytime you walk through the lobby, they arrange taxis (and on our Saturday morning departure, their own vehicle when Zermatt taxis were unavailable,) and they even arranged a last minute additional night for us - all at a great rate for Zermatt. The hotel is in a traditional style with beautiful woodwork in the rooms and restaurant, the most frequent complaint we read here was that the property is "dated," and while certain things in the room are a little worn, some of the carpet could be replaced and there could be a few more electrical outlets by today's standard, everything is clean, in good working order (great water pressure and the hottest water coming from the taps i have ever experienced anywhere,) and we loved the linens and fluffy down comforters and pillows. Plus a balcony and perfect view of the Matterhorn. Breakfast is great. Antares' Best Kept "secret" is the spa with hot sauna, steam sauna, a rasul, hot and cold showers, two whirlpool tubs, and warm lounging stations - in a quote Roman-spa-inspired setting. We were almost always alone in the spa - very relaxing and romantic!

I was surprised at some of the critical reviews i had read about this property, but after the first 24 hours at this lovely, traditional, and welcoming hotel, any concerns were dispelled. Please see positive comments.

The overall experience was amazing. Our first impression was shaped on the reception desk when we arrived. The receptionist was very kind and helpful and she explained us all about the hotel amenities and surrounding area, as well as all the information regarding lifts, ski rentals and passes. Our room excited our expectations. It wasn't the one illustrated on booking.com, our room was a refurbished version of the existing layout. The newly refurbished room was freshly decorated, equipped with a comfortable bed and modern sanitary. I liked a lot that the room had tiled floor and not a carpet one. The breakfast was very rich, full of tasty options from cheese selection to omelettes and pastries, not to leave aside the amazing view. The view from our room was unique too, facing directly the Matterhorn. Our check out was to be very early so the receptionist offered us a breakfast box, as we would miss our last day's one. I would absolutely recommend this accommodation!

The spa was a bit dated

What an amazing view of the Matterhorn! We adored the view from our balcony. The rooms are quite small, but there is a lift to get your luggage to your room with no issues. The breakfast is by far the best spread we have had in Switzerland so far, they included hot and cold options. The hotel is very closely located near the gondola to get you to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. If you want to walk into town is it about 18 minutes, but there is also a free bus. We also loved meeting a fellow Aussie at the front desk!

The halls and rooms smelled of smoke - despite all the signs advising for guests not to smoke. We are not sure if the smell was from the cleaners or the guests next to us.

The best hotel we have stayed in Switzerland. The staff were very welcoming, cheerful, helpful and most engaging. A special shout out to Robin at Reception. Room was clean, modern and a spectacular view of the Matterhorn to wake up to each morning. The bathroom was fully tiled with marble and bight LED lights. The spa was a very nice bonus and is open 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm each day. The location was great - right next door to the cable car and also a 60 second walk to the free public bus which can take you to the station, village centre and funicular to Sunegga. To walk to the centre is around 20 minutes. Our Balcony was 3 x the size of our room which was also large! No buildings obstructing the view of the Matterhorn from the balcony, indeed whilst laying in your bed! 😁

Everything was superb.

The staff was amazing. Lucie at the front desk was so helpful and gave me such great recommendations. Laura in the restaurant was equally great, she remembered my coffee order each morning and was so kind each day. The location was spectacular, a 2 min walk to the Glacier Express Gondola, giving you easy access to the entire ski area.

The spa/sauna area had issues while I was there, so it couldn’t be fully used. It would be nice if it was open from 3-9 instead of just 4-8.

View was lovely, room was spacious and breakfast was excellent.

Location is great for the Matterhorn Express but a difficult walk with luggage from the Zermatt station. Taxi’s are available.

Great value for skiers - one of the closest lodgings to the Matterhorn Glacier Express gondola, and at a great price. Good breakfast, ski and boot room with street access. Fluffy, warm, down comforters and pillows. Clean. Friendly reception, helpful with recommendations. Discounted taxis (10 CHF) to the train station - just call on arrival and arrange at checkout. Taxi usually arrives in 10 minutes. Full spa with wet sauna, dry sauna, razul, cold and hot showers, 2 whirlpool tubs, and 9 heated lounge chairs for relaxation. Many rooms have a Matterhorn view. This is an older, classic hotel and because of its popularity its always booked so the rooms are a little worn from use and continuous cleaning. It's a charming place that we've stayed at on all 3 of our week-long ski trips to Zermatt. The amenities and proximity to the gondola for skiers are a great value.
