Great location in the middle of Zermatt and very close to the train station (not even a 10 min walk). The staff (owners?) are great. I had a late check in and an early checkout but everything went very smooth. Got clear instructions when I arrived and they made sure some breakfast was available when I left. Also got some good info on what to do while I was there. The shared facilities were very clean, and the room was nice with a little balcony. Eventhough there was a lot of noise outside with the river and town inside it was quiet. Bed was very comfy.

The rooms are a little outdated but that didn’t really bother me.

Location was right in the middle of town and perfect walking distance from shopping, food, good overlooks of the matterhorn, and train station. Breakfast was really good! Many options and good coffee. We could store our bags. The room had a comfortable balcony and decent amount of space for all our stuff. Communication for late check in both pre-trip and day of was excellent and very clear.

No elevator, made it a bit challenging to bring our heavy bags up to the 2nd floor. If you prefer to pay for the ease of getting your bags to/from your room, feel free to stay elsewhere. We didn't mind.

It was our second time here, good quality-price (considering it's in Zermatt...) and very good location in between the main train/lift stations. The staff is friendly and helpful, buffet breakfast very good with choice of sweet and savoury and hot drink to order to the lady. There is a room for storage were they let you leave your luggage both before check-in and after check-out. We didn't find a room with private bathroom available for this stay, so we slept in one with common bathroom (a toilet and a separate shower for 3-4 rooms, if I remember correctly). The room was really spacious, with a sink, wardrobe, small table and chairs and even a balcony! Both the room and the common toilet very clean. Free wifi works good.

Not related to the hotel itself, but we weren't able to use the common toilet in the morning because it was occupied for too long...fortunately there was another toilet next to the hotel desk which was free ;)

I loved the room! It was a cozy wooden chalet like room and the shared bathrooms and toilets were very clean. Had no problems whatsoever. Decent views from my room and the attached balcony was nice too!

There was no staff on site for the most part and the reception wasn’t manned. So no one to ask for recommendations or simple questions. The breakfast was only half decent. Bread was super hard. If you can afford to skip eating here, I’d skip it. No elevator so all the bags need to go up by stairs 3 floors up.

You can't ask for a better location. Near to the center where you have access to many restaurants and shops. Very friendly staff. The room was comfortable and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The little balcony was also nice to have even though there was not much of a view. The shared bathroom and shower were extremely clean and since there is one on each floor, it was never very busy so it almost didn't feel like a shared bathroom. We were on the 3rd floor so it was a little work out to bring our luggage upstairs since there is no elevator. Breakfast was simple but good enough to get your day starting- don't worry, you won't go hungry. Bonus, coffee was fresh and there was also cappuccino available. We arrived late in Zermatt and the instructions to self check-in were well detailed and easy to follow. We really like our stay at this hotel and would definitely book there again.

Everything was perfect

Superb location. Great view from the balcony. Friendly and helpful staff. Beds were comfortable. The facilities were clean and spacious. Of course those are shared (at least for our room), but that was not an issue in any way. Would definitely recommend staying here. Good value for money.

The room was carpeted. This always feels a bit less clean than otherwise possible. Maybe it is part of the authenticity of the hotel, but I would recommend swapping it out for something with a smooth surface. This is only a minor thing, though. Even with a dust allergy the carpet gave no problems for me, so don't worry about that.

I stayed in a super comfy room with a cool balcony and amazing views. They even had a sink in the room for a quick face wash, plus plenty of fresh towels. Breakfast was yummy, and the staff was awesome. Even though I checked in late, they had my name on the key and showed me where to go. Their chat support was lightning fast too. Loved my stay – totally recommend, especially if you're flying solo like me

Not that I didn’t like it, but just a friendly suggestion: this hotel is situated uphill, and you’ll need to walk uphill while lugging your luggage. Some parts of the road are made of stone, so perhaps considering a taxi to the hotel isn’t a bad idea.

First of all big thanks To Max ....thanks for helping us with our suit cases... Hotel is very clean...and very friendly staff.... Big plus is we could see Matterhorn from our room windows..it is room number 111 on third floor...you got to look up between the buildings to right hand side and you find Matterhorn....and other window from our room. Looked to city centre and church.... We had good experience... Key systems is never seen before...you put your room key in and next to it there is front door key....you got to put one in to get the other one out.and no one can get you room key althoughit is very visible...... Our Bathroom old fashioned with bath but very clean and tidy... Breakfast is good... Very unique old building....gives you through feeling of old swiss...

No elevator....all steps to third floor.....but all other things in hotel is fine so it doesn't seem as a problem and you get used to it... Any way exercise is good for all of us....

I booked a room with shared facilities and it was pretty nice. The bathroom and shower are separated on the same floor and I think shared between 4 rooms. I never had an issue with using one when I wanted. The room itself was all wood and quite tasteful, with a sink. It was certainly warm enough and the bed was comfortable. There was a balcony but with a view onto not much. The check in was easy, though the reception closes at 7pm I think and after that they'll leave the key but you'd have to look around for them. Wifi password is posted on the wall. Breakfast was OK but for the price I paid in Zermatt I can't complain. The staff I met were all nice from the reception guy to the two ladies serving Breakfast. It's a 15 min walk from the train station, along mostly cobbled streets, so pulling a case isn't fun, but it's certainly doable. For the price I'd probably stay again. Zermatt itself is a 'proper' ski resort, and the falling snow when I arrived made it seem picture postcard perfect. Visit if you can!

There's no lift/elevator so you'll have to drag your cases up the stairs by yourself...

Breakfast was limited but it had all the basics: coffee, milk, juices, bread, jelly, jam, fruits. The rooms were small as expected but not a big problem, beds were a bit tiny and bit uncomfortable, however we did have a good sleep, no issues. Internet was a big issue for me. Location by far is the highest point of this hotel, very well located, right in the middle to the town with good restaurants walking distance, also train station and cable car station. Very friendly staff !!

I would had liked more options for breakfast and perhaps a little more comfortable in the beds. Definitely a better speed internet is required.
