Beautiful hotel in the centre of Stone Town. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Extremely friendly and helpful staff who helped to organise tours and ensured we had everything we needed for a great stay!

The hot water did run out quite quickly and wasn't enough for 2 showers in a row.

Absolutely loved my stay at this hotel! The service was impeccable and so impressive. The hotel manager Franktiba was in contact from the time I booked and got my details upfront to ensure check in was fast. He made sure he offered transport and site seeing options. Upon checkin the welcome was so warm and great. Staff at reception and throughout the property were so friendly and attentive. The room was beautiful - I loved the furnishing, big shower, powerful AC and fans. The location is so central was perfect!

Breakfast was quite basic but it was fresh

This place is as described. Staff is good. Room is clean. Bathroom and shower were really good. Close to the beach. This is a 183 year old house which is remodeled. Ambience is great. Food is delicious.

This place offers two small bottles of water for brushing but did not offer water for drinking. At 9:30 pm when asked for drinking water, they said the cafeteria is closed and asked us to get water from nearby store. At the outside store, the water is 50c, but since we didn’t have enough cash we couldn’t get the water. In the morning when we asked for water, they told us to get it from the restaurant above. I felt little off, as this place is a hotel and not an airbnb, should be able to offer 24/7 drinking water and it would have been nice if they got the water from the restaurant instead of asking us to go get it. At the end they charged us 3$ for water bottle, which is only 50c outside. I highly recommend getting water from outside store.

The room was immaculate, the people were amazing, the breakfast was top notch!! Frank, the resident manager, was super nice as was everyone else. They let us keep our luggage there when we went out to explore as well so that was helpful. The location couldn’t be any better! When my boyfriend wasn’t feeling well they let us have a late check out and gave us some tea… I was very thankful for that! Asante sana!

The only thing that bothered me a bit was at 5 in the morning on the last day I was there, I heard people talking on the floor of my room so it woke me up but it wasn’t for too long. Also the room didn’t have a lot of lighting at night, but it was a really nice room and good value in regards to American standards.

Unique heritage property with clean, modern facilities Exceptional service from the gregarious, friendly and professional staff. Charles / Esther / Shande/ Rama are to be recognized; tremendously helpful and went out of the way to help with tours, food recc’s, airline scheduling and just answering questions about everything in Zanzibar. Also please recognize staff at breakfast whose names I regrettably cannot recall. I asked if I could sample a traditional breakfast one day and they surprised me with it !! One of my best experiences Kudos to manger Frank as well who coordinated plans and helped out when my pre-arranged taxi did not show up !!

Would suggest a ‘secure’ free Wi-Fi connection as one area to be worked on !!

The bathroom is really clean, spacious and nice. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant where we eat breakfast and the quality of the food are also excellent.

The room I stayed in was the cheapest. That's why all the windows were blocked, so it was stuffy. I don't think the hotel is responsible for the noise from outside. And since it was a room next to the stairs, it was noisy when other guests passed by, but I don't think that can be helped. However, the refrigerator was so noisy that we had to turn it off. Lastly, although there's not much to see, the TV is not in good condition. I think the more expensive rooms would be better.

Room was beautiful. We had a suite. We had dinner in the evening on the rooftop which was delicious. The staff all round were wonderful especially Shezna, Steffano and Happiness. Staff were caring and attentive. Really lovely. Beautifully renovated house with a history. The suite was comfortable, very clean and bathroom had all you needed.

Totally respect that there was no alcohol on the property (and you can bring your own if want it) but as a holiday destination - always nice to have a bar or options and rooftop would be nice place to have a cocktail. The hotel is not suitable for those guests who have difficulty with stairs - there is no elevator (as property very old and it would no doubt destroy the charm having lifts in the place) - all rooms are only accessible by lift.

My recent stay at this hotel was an absolute delight. The location is a traveler's dream, with all the major attractions just a stone's throw away. Place is beautifully decorated with history of zanzibar stone town . Bed was super comfortable after a long tiring flight The staff deserves special praise for their exceptional service - they were not only helpful but also accommodated an early check-in, making my trip even more convenient. This hotel truly knows how to make guests feel welcome and appreciated. Highly recommended! All utilities are near by

Location can be complicated if arriving on your own as stone town has narrow lanes and first timer can have difficulty finding it …

The property is a beautiful historical house, tastefully decorated and well appointed. The room was large, clean, comfortable and was oozing the Zanzibari history and spirit. The bathroom was equipped with amenities including a wonderfully scented bath salt... everything was just relaxing, comfortable and "pole pole". The staff was extremely helpful, polite and efficient. I had my laundry done and couple of local errands arranged - all arrived spot on and on time. The location is central and easy to access, yet away from the noisy part. Staying in Kisiwa house was a joyful experience and I can highly recommend.

10 out of 10 point, and I don't give them often. We were positively surprised by this really beautiful boutique hotel in the center of stone town. The house itself, a historical building, is worth a visit. The rooms are beautiful and comfy. Bathrooms have been renovated recently and are totally new and modern by European standards (best shower in Tanzania by far for us). Staff was very helpful. We even could park the car in the backyard and they ensured that the camera was pointing at it. We wanted to go to the Emerson spice hotel, but (fortunately) it was booked out. Our luck, since Kisawa house was just perdect and a bit more affordable. Fully recommend this one.

No elevator, but that's to expect with a historical building. Breakfast could be a bit better.
