It was in the heart of the town, the turn down service was lovely with biscuits on the bed.
I didn’t like the over sell of tours and felt like I was being made money out of, and was in a difficult situation when I paid x amount and only some of that reached the person and they was saying it wasn’t enough. I just think offering a tour service should be there to provide a good service to clients with good deals.

Well appointed room, some nice design touches, very central location
Breakfast was on a beautiful terrace but the meal itself was disappointing. Awful coffee and not a great selection of food. The hotel is quite hard to find in a maze of streets.

The location was excellent - very central in Stone Town and a great base for exploring. The room was clean and nice, and was serviced every day. The rooftop restaurant was lovely and very convenient, with cheap cocktails and a good view! There was a good choice of food at breakfast, and we got to try lots of new things which was exciting (although don't expect European/American-style breakfast options). Other reviews have complained about the WiFi but I never had any issues with it. You can organise excursions from the hotel which is convenient.
The property is in the centre of Stone Town, so as is to be expected, it was noisy. You can hear people, animals and the call to prayer during the night/early morning, but this wasn't a problem for us because we took ear plugs. The safe in our room didn't seem to work, and the key card stopped working every day which was inconvenient and annoying (but the reception staff fixed this quickly for us). Felt ripped off by the Prison Island excursion. Would suggest exploring prices elsewhere first, you're essentially only paying for the boat trip over there (guide non-existent and entry fees not included!)

It is close to walk everywhere. I think the location of the hotel is not marked correctly on navigation apps as I have always ended up looking for the right direction. But no problem, the entrance is probably behind you or around the corner. ;) It is in the middle of the hustle and bustle so the noise is present. The prayer from mosque is too loud. But, caribu. That's the part of it. And the bathroom was quite spacious which I enjoyed. Cars don't go inside these narrow streets. But there is a tuk-tuk that can help get you to your hotel.
Everything was okay for me, but the noise sometimes..

The Spice Palace Hotel has an unbeatable location, in the middle of the island's vibrant culture. From the moment I arrived, the staff ensured I had everything I needed and always with a smile. For someone travelling on their own, it provides a safe space where local attractions are within an easy walk. A special thanks to Chris for always being available to arrange taxis whenever I needed.
If you are looking for a quiet location, being in the middle of Stone Town might not be for you.

Very nice, central location. Of course you have to walk, but that obvious, since it's in the middle of Stone Town in the walking area. It is central and good to reach. Once you know Stone Town it's easy to find. The breakfast was superb! Unlike many comments I can not share that feeling. Much variety, lots of fruit, freshly made eggs the way you like it, all served on their lovely tarrace. Staff was friendly. The room itself is spacious and nice. Water was very hot and the shower was fine. I would recommend this hotel if you want to stay central. For the value it was totally worth what we got.
We needed to wash clothes and then realised how expensive it was! They charge per piece, but the funny part is the pricing: $1 for a t-shirt but also $1 for underwear or a pair of socks... That makes no sense to me. As a recommendation, how it was handled in literally every country I've washed clothes so far, is to charge per kilo, not per piece. In the end the result was ok, not worth the price we paid, on top we washed our underwear and socks by hand. Also their exchange rate was very bad, worth than the airport, even though the message said otherwise. Better to exchange at the bank. Another thing was the noise, unfortunately you can hear a lot and on Tuesdays there seems to be party day. Since we slept early we had to bear the music. The bathroom had a bit of a smell and was basic.

Hotel is situated in the rush old center, we liked it. The hotel offers money exchange for better price than in the airport or the bank. The top restaurant is beautifull and the prices are much better than in other restaurants in the city. The room was ok for that price, working aircon, nice bathroom, clean. The staff very friendly. Free wifi. The pool is small, but nice.
The breakfast was not worthy that money, it was very, very poor and far away from continental breakfast. The chairs around pool was all broken.

I've been changed room after day 2 as the first one had 2 beds and it was crammed. not ideal. But as I mad e3 different bookings, it was complex logistically for payments. I's my 2nd time staying at Spice Palace hotel. I love the kindness and helpfulness of the staff, the location and working on the restaurant terrace which ahs sofas. It's good to cool off, work, real, best wifi on top and be inspired by the view. The room are clean and the bathroom are very spacious.
I moved room twice. I had to ask permission for my boyfriend to visit me during the daytime. I was charged 100 USD when asked for a late check out at 2pm. Since I stayed for 11 days I could have received a discount...

Staff is too friendly and helpful, receptionist make for us an early check-in and arrange our room when I told them we are honeymoonrs. Food is very good and they change the buffet every day. Room was clean, and there is no any mosquito or any kind of bug's. A.C is very good , hot water is always avaliable. Good for staying around couple of days.
We didn't able to connect the TV to mobile Quality of toilet paper 🧻 is poor But overall the hotel is very nice and this Is small notes
