I really like this property of many reasons. It’s got character and it’s location is perfect. A bit away from the hazzle and buzzle of the city center, but still very close to everything. There’s a very secure ATM machine nearby, walking distance to the ocean, many nice restaurants and cafes, including an Ethiopian restaurant and a very good bakery, the post office and also to the Forodhani park or to the Darajani market. Everything is nearby, still this very area is a bit quiet and beautiful with the hospital nearby and the park just outside…the breakfast was healthy and good, good service by very nice polite kind and helpful staff. The management is excellent on guard 24/7. The style of the place is a little bit unusual with a very personal touch of mixing cultures, African art together with contemporary art. All in all a very good place to stay, even for a bit longer stay, it almost became like home for us

Don’t want to complain about anything because the property is well kept and clean, and if something goes wrong, the management together with the rest of the crew are very quick to fix things. Also it’s an old house and what has happened to the house is only normal for houses that get old in Africa. Yet this is being in control

I like the property very much of many reasons. It’s location is very good, close to everything. There’s an ATM machine nearby, the ocean of course (very important!) many good restaurants and cafes, the post office, even a very good bakery…it’s walking distance from everything but still not in the middle of the city center. It’s a bit run down at places, but still very well kept with a lot of charm. The room was big with enough space for everything…good healthy breakfast and good service. Very good management and the rest of the crew or staff are equally nice polite kind helpful. The property has got its own personal touch when it comes to a mix of African art and contemporary art, a very nice a little bit unusual combination of things…all in all a very positive memory of Stonetown.

A bit run down and what happens to old buildings especially in Africa, but the upkeep is very good and if something is not working, you only have to tell the management and it’s being sorted immediately. The beds were a little bit hard but nothing to complain about, especially not for such a short stay

This is an olde worldly hotel with lots of character, African artefacts and paintings on the walls. It was quiet at night. The breakfast was next door, just take an umbrella in case of sudden shower even for short distance. Lovely fresh fruit cereal toast, choice of how you want your eggs cooked. David was very helpful and advised local restaurant etc. I personally recommend Ethiopian restaurant 10 minutes walk away from hotel. Non alcoholic. Lovely views from Verandah of gardens. Wi-Fi in communal room upstairs. Mosquito net provided around bed.

Nothing not to like. Just be advised that if doing personal laundry it may take up to 3 days to dry due to humidity.

I like the fact that it’s so close to everything, both to the beach, restaurants, cafes, small local shops and even a very good bakery, ATM machine just a walking distance away. At the same time it’s a bit off from the huzzle and buzzle of the city center. It’s cosy and quiet with a little bit of green area nearby as well. The property itself is nicely decorated, with a special personal touch on everything and the staff are very friendly kind polite and helpful

I like the location of the property. It’s close to everything, an ATM machine, the ocean, shops, restaurants, cafes, even a bakery…it’s walking distance from everything, yet not in the middle of everything. It’s beautiful, nice surroundings a bit quiet yet very good location. Nicely decorated, with a personal touch of a mix of old and new, African art with a slightly European touch of style. Very authentic in its own way…

Extremely good value for money, 21 usd for two people. Air-condition, breakfast with fruit bread eggs and juice and coffee and pancakes. My own bathroom and shower. Nice quiet location with calm walk into city center, maybe 5 mins until the heart. Nice bed although a bit thin mattress. And retro nice old building, historical. Relaxed rooftop terrace with bring your own food/drink it seems. Nice stone town experience, and quiet as opposed to if you stay in the narrow streets of stone town, where the mosque awakens you at 0530 and people are speaking loudly outside from early. I expected little but this blew my mind, 10/10 for the price. Nice staff, and many friendly guests. Different parts of the houses are on display and has retro furniture that matches the age of the building. Very cool place, please go there and don't expect a lot, and you will be so very positively surprised.

Mattress a little thin.

Room size was good. Great location. David was absolutely superb! Great Colonial ambience.

Mosquitos in the room. Shower not particularly clean and falling off the wall. A bit musty. Staff at breakfast were not great at understanding English which isn't a major criticism but made things a bit difficult.

The location just a few minutes to the centre of Stone Town. An old building decorated in retro style, with a top roof place for breakfast and relax. David, the manager of the location was very helpfull with advices, arranging trips and helping with the luggage. Thank you David. Confortabile bed, the AC works very good.

Nothing to complains about this location. Highly recommendef

Great value for money, excellent breakfast, room cleaned each day, towels and bed sheets changed each 2nd day, big rooms with air conditionning and fan, and most importantly excellent support and flexibility from Abdul and Omar to organize and manage daily trips over the whole island and make sure we experienced the best of Zanzibar in the time we spent there.

The water leak from the sink in one of the rooms was never really fixed, not a biggie though as it was an easy workaround to use the shower tap instead.
