Beautiful, spacious, and clean room. Great AC and shower. Delicious food at the restaurant— we ate dinner there once and it was the best meal we had during our 3 days in Stonetown.

A couple minor complaints: Coffee was just instant coffee— did not match the quality of the rest of the meal. We asked for a crib but were told our 18 month old could just sleep on the sofa in the room. Would have been perfect if she was a year or two older, but was not ideal for her age. Maybe if we had pushed they would have brought a crib, or maybe they don’t have them, I’m not sure.

The hotel is very well located The staff is very welcoming I had a health issue and they handled it very well The character of the building The size of the rooms The authentic design of the rooms

The restaurant should improve to make that place amazing. It does not affect your stay since you surrounded by good restaurants.

The hotel location is great as it's walking distance to the beach, restaurants, shops and museums. The staff were friendly and the room was comfortable and clean. I arrived late at night and the hotel receptionist was friendly and check in was seamless.

The room I booked was on the second floor and the steps were steep and really high. On a positive, it was a workout getting to my room but if you have any mobility issues this will definitely be something to consider. They had limited alcohol beverage options, most of which were out of stock but then again there was the option of dining in another nearby restaurant.

Location is excellent in a little quiet tree filled square just off the main street in Stone Town. Hotel is very clean, fab room, bed, good shower.

The indoor pool is a 5 minute walk away through alleyways, I needed a member of staff to guide me there and back. There is no sun lounger in the small garden adjacent to the pool.

Excellent location with wonderful staff. They were very attentive to our needs, especially when we had a small medical emergency at one point. Every staff member was also incredibly sociable and the interior was so tastefully done.

Part of the hotel's amazing location means that access to parking is a little difficult, even though the space in front of the hotel is offered for free to guests who drive. There is also no lift inside the building, which is to be expected given its age. This was not an issue for us, but it could be an issue for people with accessibility needs.

Everything worked great and the bed was very comfortable! There were enough surfaces in the room to unpack, bathroom was very clean and well maintained (with a cool shower), complimentary breakfast was delicious - it was a great hotel. Location was stellar! Right in the mix without being exactly on the water. Would absolutely stay here again at the right price!

Bed was too small, and smaller than expected based on the room description. Otherwise everything was great!

Beautiful room and a brilliant location. The staff were very friendly and helpful, helping with transfers and allowing us to check in early too following a very early flight. Having access to the pool at Jiko Garden was lovely and much needed after a sunny day exploring Stone Town. Breakfast was nice and plenty to set you up for the day. A great stay overall.

Great location, historic building. Welcoming staff.

Hard to say. Being a listed building, there are structural limitations to what can or cannot be done. That said, small details are the things that make the difference. Wardrobe in the room.. Ensure that the TV is fully functional.. A bedside lamp.. But these are details.

We were in room 101 and it was amazing with views to Kelele Square. The room was huge and really clean. Decoration and historial style was really cozy. The bed was very large, slighly high and hard. There was A/C and ceiling fan,, we were able to do early check in and the room was already clean and fresh. The ladies and cleaning staff is incredibly effective and efficient. The bathroom and especially the shower was really cute, like from a fairy tale. There was hair dryer, big TV, complimentary water, a kettle with coffee and tea, mini fridge... WIFI connection was great. The location is just perfect! Couldn't have chosen better. We would repeat the same if we'd ever come back to Stone Town. It's in a very strategic position where everything's really close, you walk few minutes from/to the main touristic points and the surroundigs are safe. There is a massage shop next door with very professional ladies. You can eat at the hotel restaurant or you can go to any of the terraces at 2min walking from the hotel, with direct view over the sea to see the sunset while having an amazing cocktail. Breakfast at the hotel is complete, fresh and home made. They also could keep our luggage after check-out. Everything was perfect and straight forward. 100% recommended!

The only bad thing is that you could hear noises from the street while sleeping and we got up a few times during the night.
