The Southfield i seasy enough to find and is located a short walk from the shops and other local facilities. My Room was clean and comfortable, bed was very comfortable and I ha d a decent nights sleep. I didnt bother going out to eat and ate in the small bar/resturant which was great value and with first class service. I was travelling by motorbike and I felt comfortable that my bike was safe and secure whilst I was there. In fact the owner of The Southfield directed me to a 'hard standing' at the rear to park my bike on. I stayed here a few years ago (I think in 2016 or so) and I would be happy to stay there again if travelling in that area. Wi-Fi was good as well.

There wassnt anything that I didnt like. As I have already said I would be happy to stay there again, which I suppose tells it's own story.

The breakfasts and dinners were freshly prepared and were delicious. It was a huge bonus having a restaurant and bar right there in the house - which felt like a home. The staff were friendly and truly cared about their guests. The location is excellent, the house is large and has wonderful architectural features. Plus there is off-street parking 💕

The only thing of note is the worn edges of carpeting on the stairs, which won’t stop me from staying there again.

All meals were excellent. There was plenty of choice at breakfast, both "full" and "continental" breakfasts were offered. The evening meals were exceptional - the quality, choice and value for money could not be faulted and they were LARGE! The hotel was clean and the room was large and bright with tea-making facilities and a good choice of beverages! The staff were unfailingly helpful and cheerful. Yes, I would recommend this family run hotel and yes, I would return.

It was very clean and staff were all extremely friendly. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good on the whole.

The kettle in the bedroom didn’t want to boil water. It kept switching off. Plastic glasses in the bedroom. Making your own tea and coffee at breakfast. I like a proper pot of tea and not a dipped tea bag. I would also have liked a chopped fruit option.

Nice old building with lots of charm. Good sized room. Nice breakfast and the only seemed nice.

The heating system was set to 28 degrees which for us was way too hot. we turned it down but it kept resetting back to 28 and we slept poorly as a result. it’s a pity because it was the only thing we didn’t like about our stay. I feel like setting it to default nearer 20 degrees would be better. I wouldn’t normally have a duvet on at that temperature.

We booked this hotel because it was quite near to a wedding venue that we were attending. We were able to check in early as we messaged them before, which was a godsend!! Sandra is amazing and so helpful!! Breakfast was soo good. Full English/Scottish and you couldn’t have asked for anything more. We will definitely stay there again. Wonderful wee hotel!!

Our first night in Scotland we checked into the Southfield. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The location was great to get to nearby takeaway and pub, or take a walk to the waterfront. We requested a cot and everything was set up when we arrived and the rooms were lovely and had private updated bathrooms. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and cooked fresh to order. I would definitely stay here again.

The hall stairs to the bedrooms could be challenging for some.

Quiet, comfy, clean room with en-suite facility. Restaurant on site providing evening meals and breakfast. Breakfast was exceptional - delicious with a wide range of teas/coffees to accompany the food. Great location with a short walk to the beach.

All of the staff at the Southfield Hotel whet to extraordinary lengths to make my stay comfortable. My room was upgraded twice to accommodate me. The same for breakfast; they catered for my dietary needs with genuine care and respect. These are the loveliest, friendliest and most thoughtful hotel team I have ever met.

Meals excellent. Staff friendly and approachable. Made to feel at ease, nothing too much trouble

Size of room perhaps although appreciate that really can't be helped and 2 chairs to sit on if room?
