Lovely location, breakfast has excellent choice. Room was small but comfy meeting our needs

It was quite busy for evenning meal, we had booked and there was nowhere to sit comfortably for a drink. So stood near the bar. When our table was ready we were shown to it but then left to look at menu with the staff stating they would take our order, 45 minutes later they came back after we tried several times to get thier attention. Food ordered it was 45 minutes later and my husband is a diabetic so by the time we ate he didn't feel too good. However the food was great quality just the service let it down on the night but could see staff were busy

The staff here are brilliant, exceptional cleanliness ( although desperately requires a refurb) . Breakfasts very good, cooked to order with a great choice. Time very attentive

Sadly although staff try to make the best of what they have the hotel is run down . This must be losing return clients. Owners, Green king are letting themselves down. This hotel because of the staff and location could be the jewel in the crown, a go to destination in Banbury. It was disappointing to learn that the planned refurbishment, long overdue, is cancelled for the foreseeable future The bedroom was rather dark , lighting could be improved

All the staff were very friendly and helpfull. We had a double room and a single room.In our double room we had a super kingsize bed with lovely white bedding, very comfortable. We also had a 2seater sofa and coffee table, Tea and Coffee etc.Plus a desk and wardrobe, Iron and Ironing board and fan.The single room was very small but adequate. The meal we had here was excellent and reasonably priced. The lounge had a lovely log fire and comfy sofa and chairs with lots of throws, very cosy. Beautiful xmas tree and decorations, felt like home from home. Very happy with our stay, would highly recommend.

There was nothing to dislike. The Cromwell Lodge hotel is a very old building with creaky floors, but that didn't bother us. The weather was cold but we were lovely and warm inside..Our room was decorated with grey walls, furniture and carpet, which was not to our taste but it was in good condition, very clean, nice and warm. We would certainly stay again.

Location in central Banbury was excellent & we also drove to Oxford for the Xmas market which only took 30 minutes. The breakfast was very good value for money with an excellent choice. The hotel was very festive & beautifully decorated. I need to mention the staff. They were without doubt the friendliest & most efficient team I have ever come across in a UK hotel - a real credit to Green King. Thank you all for such a great stay!!!

The stairs were quite steep & the roof a little low but what can you expect in a Victorian building.

We’ve just come back from a weekend away staying at the The Cromwell Lodge Hotel & wasn’t disappointed. The location is great as it’s situated in the heart of the town. Our room was functional for a night/weekend stay and cleaned everyday. The food was great all cooked to order, we had an evening meal every night & cooked breakfast every morning. The thing that was most impressive was the staff, caring, helpful & nothing to much trouble. We have to mention Jess, wow what a member of staff she is, she’s extremely dedicated to her job & making sure the customer is happy. Whatever she’s paid its not enough as she’s a true asset to the business. Jess checked us in and help us to swap rooms so it was better for our little dog Levi. Our last meal even though she was run off her feet took the time to bring Levi a sausage, we were very touched & grateful for this & of course so was Levi. He looked for her everywhere & wanted to say goodbye on checkout but sadly she wasn’t working, hopefully taking a well earned break. We will come back again Matt, Dee & Levi

I booked one night here while I was in town for a wedding, because I had a music composing deadline I had to hit before the event. I stayed up most of the night and still had work to do when I checked out the next morning, and not only did the staff let me hang around the hotel to work, they set me up in a quiet room and checked in on me regularly, offering me coffee and offering words of support and encouragement. I couldn’t have hit the deadline without their help, and I was really touched at how willing they were to help me out. Can’t recommend this place enough! Also the room was really nice, had a good desk, a perfect spot for what i needed it for, and the food kicked ass, I had fish and chips for dinner and full English breakfast the next morning.

Nothing!

I requested the room with a bath . Was greeted as I walked in allowed to park as arrived earlier to an expected . Staff were lovely and extremely accommodating. Ben at the bar was a credit to your team and just lovely helpful chap . Breakfast in the morning was well worth the wait and money . The staff couldn’t do enough to help make your stay go as smoothly as possible . If in Banbury again I will be staying here that is for certain . Shame I had to shoot off home or would have stayed for the roast as well .

The staff were great especially Andrew he advised us places to go. The breakfast was lovely we had all different things all were very tasty, the evening meal was really nice also especially the pie. The room was small but nice the beds were very comfortable but very high I had a problem getting onto it but they gave me a stool to help me which made it easier, the shower was nice. A lovely friendly place to stay.

Would have been great for me if they had twin beds on the ground floor as well as double as the stairs were a problem.

We stayed for 2 nights, we really enjoyed our stay. On arrival we were greeted by a really pleasant lady who booked us in and and gave us all information we needed. The rooms were clean and tidy and nice and warm as it was freezing outside. There was a party on both nights we were there but the hotel did email to warn us the week before, we didn't mind we were enjoying the music. Nice little added extra in the hospitality try that my children were very impressed with was the hot chocolate. The showers were very good with nice hot water. All the staff were really helpful and friendly. We didn't have breakfast either day but we did book a festive meal with family which was excellent. All in all a very pleasant stay and we would definitely return :-)

Nothing all was great

The location was perfect, a short walk into the town, and close to the railway station with a short ride into Oxford. The room, number 3 was lovely with lots of space to move around. The bathroom did look a little tired, but it’s an old listed building and the staff are working hard to renovate it. The food, especially the breakfast was amazing, with lots of choice, and the plates were hot!! a definite bonus in our opinion. Above all , the staff were fantastic, especially Jade who welcomed us and gave us first class service, all the team were a credit to her. We would love to return sometime

We did notice that the toilet had a leak but it wasn’t enough to spoil our stay and we mentioned it when we left
